This is usually crowded but still worth to see Pocitos beach and neighbourhood from there. Also a good photo to take.
The sign is usually in White colour but they paint it for different events that take place in the city, which I think it's nice.

It was painted red, white, blue and black and had smudges of dirty on it. The crowds come and go. But they are generally nice if you want to take a picture on it alone. It looks a bit grimy though. The City of Montevideo should clean it up a bit. Maybe add some grass around it.

I've seen so many photos of this sign being white but today is primarily blue. My guess is that it regularly is repainted. It's hard to miss for us since we stayed across the street at the Hyatt Centric Montevideo.
If you want a photo with no people - you should get there early. It's very popular - particularly on the weekends.
There is usually a guy with a drone who will take your picture from above which is pretty unique. We just opted for the regular pose early in the morning before breakfast when nobody was there.

Very lively area of the city. We took the car there and being a weekend afternoon, the parking lot was full of groups of young people listening to music and having a drink.
The panoramic view of the letters with the beach in the background is very beautiful. The letters are very well preserved.

We enjoyed a quick visit to this sign. We decided to combine it with a stroll along the Rambla, so we used Uber to get to the sign and then walked south from here. Note that we originally had a hard time finding the location on Google Maps - it's named "Letras de Montevideo" (searching for Montevideo Sign brings up a different location in a park on the west side of Montevideo Bay, which we didn't visit).

There was a large tour group at the sign when we arrived, but we enjoyed the views while we waited for them to leave, and afterward it was a lot easier to get a picture without a bunch of people in it. There isn't much to do at the sign beyond taking a photo, but it was fun to people watch a little, and enjoy the view over Playa de los Pocitos before we started our walk.

Fun place to visit and a must do. it can be crowded, so, you may need to wait to do a selfie. Great city and beach background for this concrete sign. The sign is now painted purple. only issue is parking. the best place to park is at the bottom of the hill.

Good luck getting a picture without scads of other people present. There's always a crowd at this tourist magnet. Nonetheless, the view of the Pocitos Rambla is beautiful from here, so it's well worth the walk to get here. There are also nice sunset views near here. And the sign is beautifully lit at night.

The edges of this landmark is worn and chipped as people climb all over it. Stop people climbing on it.

Every major South American city seems to have a sign like this (typically in a main plaza), but this location on Pocitos beach is particularly perfect for photo opportunities. Worth the visit while in the Pocitos area on a nice day.
