Our guide, Rodrigo, was enthusiastic, friendly and knowledgeable about the important parts, buildings and parks of Montevideo. Our tour lasted about 2 hours on a sunny day and very low key. He even made suggestions of places to eat within the area we were and around Montevideo. The day was very warm, but Rodrigo kept us along the shady sides of the street so it was pleasant. He was a very good guide.

The tour was good, the guide knew a lot about history and was entertaining. However, I found it quite disappointing that at the end the guide "suggested" a 500 pesos tip (USD 12.50), which is quite steep for this kind of tour. Especially when the tour web page specifically states that the suggested tip is 200-400 pesos. They should either update price, so one is prepared to pay that much, or ask the guides to stick to the suggestion instead of increasing it after the tour.

Despite the small group at the 3pm tour, Rodrigo kept us engaged and entertained with interesting stories and history about both Montevideo and Uruguay as a whole. He spoke clear English with a cool local accent and gave us great insight into Uruguay’s cultural traditions and points of pride. Would definitely join another tour through this company.

When I go to a new city I always enjoy doing a walking tour, in most cases you see some hidden gems that you'd otherwise miss or get interesting snippets of info about major sites that don't make Wikipedia or the guide books, unfortunately there was nothing of that nature with this tour.
I arrived in Montevideo the day before the tour but missed it as it was a Friday and the tour is at 10:30 (I think) on weekdays but at 15:30 at weekends, so I had to wait for the Saturday tour. I was staying in the old town so naturally had a look around myself on the day before and morning of the tour, it's a small enough area so I was worried that I'd seen everything myself already but hoped that there'd be something I had missed or some new information to gain from the tour, no such luck.
The tour guide was very pleasant and friendly but her English wasn't good enough, in my opinion, to lead an English language tour. I'm a native English speaker and struggled to understand her at times, others in the group were from France, Italy and Eastern Europe so I'm sure they struggled even more, so much so that a few quietly sneaked away from the tour before the end.
The tour lasted about 2.5 hours but covered only a small area and you won't see anything that you wouldn't pass by on your own. It felt like the guide had memorised a script and was just rattling that off, I asked a couple of questions which weren't answered, not, I suspect, because the tour guide didn't know the answer but that she didn't have good enough English to answer. It seemed like anything off script couldn't be answered.
Unfortunately this was probably the worst walking tour I was ever on. I saw or learned nothing new in 2.5 hours,

My wife and I took the historical walking tour in the old city with Juan Pablo AKA John Paul and had a wonderful experience. He has an excellent knowledge of the History of Uruguay which he loves to share.
Would highly recommend.

I did the free walking tour of Ciudad Vieja with Jacqueline not long ago. Jacqueline knew much about the history and shared interesting facts and stories. I really appreciated her expertise and knowledge about Montevideo's and Uruguay's history.
However, Jacqueline's English skills were not up to par, which could make it difficult to follow along. After the first 10 minutes of the tour, everyone lost interest and we wouldn't ask her any questions to not put her in a difficult position, as we'd see she was struggling. It was a shame because we could see how positive and funny she was. I would suggest that Jacqueline should not conduct English tours until her language skills improve.

Went into the tour knowing close to nothing about Uruguay and Montevideo, but our guide Juan Pablo helped fill in the gaps and more. The tour covers a wide range of topics, including the history and culture (including nightlife culture!) of Uruguay. The tour was held at the right pace for me, and since we didn't have a big group we were allowed quite some degree of flexibility. Juan Pablo was a friendly and funny guide who conducted the tour in perfect English. It was a great introduction to Uruguay and Montevideo.

It was a very interesting Tour. Rodrigo was our guide and he was very confident and well informed while talking. Totally recommend him. He also left enough space for asking questions during the tour and even took the time for a talk after the walk ends. Five stars! 🔝

We did the free waking tour that starts at Plaza Independencia with Rodrigo this past Sunday. It was a great tour and Rodrigo taught us many things about Uruguay’s and Montevideo’s history. Be aware that one of the sites (a church) they normally enter is closed on Sunday. Tour is still great, but if you really want to see the church inside, come a different day.

I have taken multiple free walking tours but this one with Rodrigo did not go very well.
We did the tour in February and we did not move from the main square for 30 minutes. The tour was being dragged on and on although it was advertised for 2 to 2.30 minutes it got dragged on to 3 and 3.15 hours. Also not a good experience from Rodrigo at the end of the tour

Written August 28, 2019
Hello!!
Thanks for your mesage.
Its only a 20 minute walk. You have to walk both pedestrian streets, Perez Castellanos st and Sarandi St, and the you will meet the main square (Independence Sq).
Hope you have a nice trip!!
See you then!

No se sugiere monto alguno. Yo le di 20 euros por y por mi señora en total ya que crei que se lo gano despues de 2 horas. Sin embargo otros chicos le dieron monedas.
