The Museum underneath the Centenario Football stadium is much better than the corresponding one in Maracana. It has a small boutique shop, with really very few to buy, but two stories of trophies, pictures, banners, posters, original balls and even the tactics drawn on paper prior to the game. It feels really like going back in time and get a feel of the 30s and 50s. You can spend around 45 min there. I really likes it.

As a football fan, this is truly a must visit. Greatly underappreciated - I was the only person there. Access to the stadium included with the museum pass. The museum itself, its an outstanding collection documenting the history of football in uruguay with tons of trophies. Only downside - perhaps if there was more interest, an actual guided tour of the stadium would be possible. If they win the rights to the 2030 world cup, this stadium will have to be gutted and renovated. Visit now.

Historic venue with accompanying museum containing original artefacts and memorabilia of Uruguay as a footballing nation. Excellent value relative to the relatively small entrance fee.

For football or non football fans it's well worth a visit. It's cheap to visit (at the time of writing it was 150 pesos) and they have little bits of football memorabilia from Uruguay and around the world as well as other sporting memorabilia from Uruguay. You also get to go into the stadium. The guy who served us at the entrance was really friendly and helpful and luckily for us also spoke good English. For a bit of football history (a sport which is so important to South American culture) I would definitely recommend.

Huge display of historic memorabilia, photos, footage, paintings and more showing the history of the World Cup and Olympic Gold medal winners.
Was little hesitant on knowing there was no information in English but it really didn't matter. Also included a wander around the stadium.

I couldn't visit the football museum because it was closed. During a holiday in the summer time and this place wasn't available to visit. The worst thing they don't update the website so it's not possible to get information.

Took less than 20 minutes to look around the museum. It’s a trip back in time. My main gripe is the free WiFi is so inadequate that when you scan the barcode next to an exhibit you’ll be lucky to open up the YouTube link. This is a great shame and detracts if you don’t speak Spanish.

A history of Uruguayan football is hand-in-hand a history of the World Cup. Well, sort of. Located at the crumbling Estadio Centenario, this museum is fantastic for anyone who loves football. This was the very site of the first World Cup in 1930 and this museum charts the story of the Uruguayan national team since that time. You can see original trophies and walk out into the stands of the stadium to see the famous pitch immortalised in football history. Easily accessed by bus or a 30 minute walk from central Montevideo.

The museum is small and just a random collection of flags, shirts, a few trophies and photos, mostly about the Uruguay national team, with no chronological or thematic order. The entrance to the stadium is included in the museum ticket price (150 uy$), for 60 pesos extra you can take the elevator up to the tower and enjoy stunning views of the stadium and the city. Museum: bad. Stadium and tower: fantastic.

The museum is a bit dusty and forlorn, but worth the visit nonetheless. If you are a football fan this is the place; amazing documents and photos of glories past and present.
