Went to see the ballet, Don Quixote. Very new theater. Not a bad seat in the house. Great acoustics. Not many bathrooms. Nice lighting. Excellent audience who really appreciated what they were being shown.

Located right on 18 de Julio in Montevideo. The performance was the end of year concert of the Sodre orchestra. The orchestra played Franz Peter Schubert, Alfredo Minetti and Astor Piazzolla. Simply amazing and only cost $6.25 for a seat near front row.

Very impressive, great facilities but too vertically built and if you sit in the 4th segment wow! It is almost like watching a performance in the street but seen from the 7th floor of a building. ! Was not impressed with seating at that location. You see performers from the top of their heads.

We went to a concert by the Sodre juvenile symphony orchestra (mostly teenagers) conducted by Giselle Ben-Dor. They performed several works by Dvorak and Aaron Copland and did a pretty good job of it. The auditorium, which has several levels, has good acoustics, and despite being in a side aisle (on level A) I could see everything. A nice venue.

An unexpected wonderful, high performance and cheap attraction. The Uruguayan ballet company is very good and use this theater to do its performance. The auditorium is very comfortable and allow to see all the act with no restrictions.
Have to check in advance when the performances will happen and make reservations. Really have very cheap prices for an amazing shows.

Modern, comfortable seats, no columns, a few steps from Independence square in the centre of the city. I recommend the "platea alta" for ballet, is the best place. Not recommnend the upper levels because you can miss a bit of the upper side of the stage.

Geat experience.
I am a regular visitor of this theater; both popular and selected cultural spectacles are featured here. I even buy a Regular User Bonus Ticket by February/March, which allows me to choose 5 out shows of all the programation for the whole year with a 30% discount on regular fee.

Strenghts: - well located, brighty beautiful show place.
- Located a couple of blocks far from Plaza Independencia and 18 de Julio Avenue.
- Only shows of the highest quality are performed here.
- Not too expensive.
- You might be able to find tickets at the counter - even though prior reservation is encouraged. (You can do it through your hotel´s front desk or concierge).

Weaknesses: - The neighborhood has become a little bit dark and "dark" in terms of the feeling of safety, due to the hour most shows are held - after 7 p.m., i.e. already dark, or dusk at least. (I haven´t heard about inconvenients involving police or violence in all these years, but anyway, the feeling when you leave the theatre near 10:30 or 11:00 p.m. is not the one I would wish.
- The industry of "looking after your car" has proliferated in the country -and mainly arround theaters and movies. So the level of the population arround the theater is not the highest. (A tip of a dime or even less - $ 5 or 10 Pesos - will be enough to fulfill the car watchers´ expectations, in case you go with your own car. My suggestion is a taxi, Uber or so. Cabs stop at the entrance).
