I was very fortunate to be at the Theatre when it was letting out after a performance. The tour didn't begin until 4:00 and it was 2:40. Was able to go inside and take some photos and it is stunning. There are tours in English, just check ahead. The interior is huge and although I can't vouch for this, was... More

If you are visiting Montevideo, this is a place you can´t miss. It is a very nice, historical remodelled theatre. There is a wide variety of options to see, for all sorts of taste and age. You can see opera, classical music, and dance to modern music, black theatre, comedy, drama, shows for kids and many others. I suggest buying... More

It's the best Theatre in Montevideo. Good Plays, Opera and Singers have been there! It has wonderful accustic and architecture with luxury furnitures, lights and rugs. You may visit only or choose a play to see and also visit the Theatre.

You cannot miss this historical theater, recently renewed has all its magic back! If you can assist to any show it will be a great experience, but if time doesn't allow you, you can take a guided tour to learn about this amazing place. There is a gift shop and nice and fancy coffee shop.

I went on a tour of the Theatre and it was very interesting. The students who take you on the tour are very knowledgeable and love to practise their English. The Chandeliers are amazing as is all the beautiful wood and marble. I was sad that I could not catch a performance here.

If you want to see the first theatre in Uruguay you should go there,it's an amazing building where you can go and learn about uruguayan culture and also see some good shows, nacional and international. There is a gift shop and it's located in Ciudad Vieja, where you can go for a walk and visit some typical bars and squares.

Historical and amazing theatre in the heart of Montevideo. You basically can't leave the city and say you visited without at least make an outside visit. FYI, the sound design is one of the best in America.
