My god it is packed with locks. The picture in this post ( the initial one) must have been from years ago. There are so many locks there now. Its cute but you can do it in 3 minutes with taking pics.

You usually find this kind of tradition in bridges, like in Paris, but the idea of a fountain was very kind and this one is a lovely spot for pics.

Clamping locks to a fountain is a thing I cannot understand. But calling this an attractions, is worse. Forget it! A waste of time.

I had read about this fountain (there are similar ones in many cities around the world as well) in a popular guidebook. I actually passed it several times before stopping to see it. Not sure why it's an official attraction. It is probably of interest if you're a teenager in love. When walking on Avenida 18 de Julio it's worth... More

We just happened to find this while walking around Montevideo. Found it interesting...but still don't quite understand why people are so intrigued with putting locks on structures.

I don't know if you can really call this an attraction? I wouldn't recommend this to anyone but someone who has an obsession with putting their and their significant others initials on padlocks and locking it on public property.

I didn't understand this at all. I'm in love, but why a padlock should symbolized love? May be you're a possesive person and you'll love this.

It is a copy of an original, it is very dark in the evening, so you can walk by it and not see it. Could be something but it is like no one cares !

For couples: if you are in a couple trip in Montevideo, bring a lock with your initials on it and lock at the Fuente! Next to this fountain, there is a nice cafe (Facal) you can have a mate/cappuccino/cafe or anything in a little romantic place! I LOVED IT!
