After dinner I headed the other way on San Jose and then turned right and lo and behold I ran into this cool little park in the center of the town.... it's actually quite impressive and it seemed the locals were enjoying this place... just a stones throw from the high pressure, highly populated sidewalks of the city.... it's a... The Plaza Fabini is a beautiful area of grass, trees and fountains on the main boulevard in Montevideo. It is a scenic place to sit and enjoy people watching and also the sounds of the fountains and the city.

Many locals resting here and visiting on benches, a cool oasis in the city. We enjoyed it very much!

Also known as "El Entrevero" (the melee), this powerful oversize ensmble pictures an all out clash between several mounted gauchos and indians. Each figure (including the incredible horses, is giving its all to the act of spearing, macing or otherwise destroying their chose adversary. I have seldom seem such passion in an action statuary.

it is worth to walk around or simply just sit down and relax. You can find little cafes or restaurants close to this place. But if it is sunny it is really worth to relax here.

If you are going to Plaza Independencia, just walk for 5 minutes here and go on. It is only a regular fountain. Do not waste tour time, there are more interesting things to see in Montevideo.

It has two names: “Plaza Fabini”, from an engineer and politician named Juan Pedro Fabini (1876-1962), who was a high rank official in the “Municipio de Montevideo”, and also “Plaza... More
