This hotel is lovely and quickly became our favorite during our trip to Peru. The rooms and grounds are gorgeous and the setting is on the river. The staff was warm & welcoming and the breakfast buffet was delicious. We had a light dinner/snack in the bar and the food was good. Also had a massage for a full 60 minutes fro the equivalent of around $75 USD! Highly recommend this hotel, it was a pleasurable experience.

Just as the other reviews say, the hotel's setting is just perfect and pictures don't really do it justice. The town of Urubamba is not much to write home about but there are a couple of good restaurants (Casa Colonial, El Huacatay).
The dinner and breakfast at Hawa was excellent and Irma and Willie (among others) took great care of us.
Jossie at the concierge desk was a highlight of the stay as she was extremely helpful, spoke great English and really focused on our preferences for the trip.
I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking to experience the Sacred Valley.

Tambo was a great oasis after a long international travel to reach the Sacred Valley on our way to Machu Picchu. The staff are all very attentive. The room was huge with a nice patio to relax in the sun.

I enjoyed the free local beer tasting and the rest of the family enjoyed the aqua-circuit spa treatment. The indoor-outdoor pool is quite unique and actually very warm.

Buffet breakfast was diverse and huge. Dinner was quite nice by the large fireplace and the “chocolate soufflé” for dessert was the perfect yummy finale.

A tad pricey but a great stopping point on an amazing journey.

We stayed here for 3 nights. The location of the hotel is great. Next to the Urabamba river and on a 6 acre private land. They grow their own spices and vegetables which they use in their restaurant.

The staff is incredibly friendly! We got the pleasure to enjoy a 90 minutes couples spa treatment (highly recommend). The tables are very comfortable and the therapist well trained. The 90 min treatment consisted of 25 minutes exfoliation, 5 min shower (in the private couples massage room) and 60 min massage. To be honest, one of the better massages I've had to date.

Thanks for the amazing stay: Andrea (concierge), Nelly and Milagros (massage therapist), Gonzalez (doorman).

Over the past few years, Peru has put in a handful of good spas especially, as you might expect, in and around Cuzco (11,500 ft a.s.l.) Three or four of these are in the Urubamba Valley, 9,600 ft. a.s.l., halfway both in height and distance between Cuzco and Machu Picchu whose hotels in the pueblo of Aguas Calientes are at 6,600 ft. a.s.l.

The best of the spas in Urubamba, actually in the whole Cuzco area, is the one attached to the Hotel Tambo del Inca Luxury Collection, a riverside five-star hotel on the edge of Urubamba, a lively market town an hour and a bit drive from Cuzco itself. The two thousand feet lower height makes the Valley that much easier on the head, lungs and stomach for new arrivals.
The Tambo del Inca, run by Peru’s Libertador chain with a franchise from the Starwood ‘Luxury Collection’ opened six years ago and has become the numero uno of this dramatic valley. The Tambo del Inca has fine views of the snow peaks and glaciers of the Cordillera Urubamba.

The spa itself was designed along European lines and features an indoor-outdoor 20-meter long pool heated to a Caribbean 29-30C degrees. This spa and pool recently featured, I believe, in TripAdvisor’s Top Ten Spas in the World. It is, like the rest of the hotel, well-run and friendly; comfortable rather than pretentious.

What sets it apart is the indoor-outdoor design, where the west end of the pool, with its fountains and channels is on a ceramic deck where you get sunned when it’s sunny and rained on if it’s raining. This is charming to the point of exciting. From the warmth of the constantly-moving water you look out over the canopies of great pisonay coral trees full, depending on the time of year, of flocks of chattering parrots up from the nearby jungle, colourful, chirpy broad-billed tanagers, and the dozens of others, led by giant long-tailed humming-birds, of the rich sub-tropical valleys of the Andes.

From the pool you can see, too, not just the Rio Vilcanota, an Amazon tributary, which 45 miles downstream will roar past Machu Picchu itself, but some small caves which house Andean owls.

The warm pool is sparkly clean with some ecological disinfectant that does the job without chlorine.

The Tambo del Inca spa provides the usual features of a health spa. For instance, there is a four-hour Regeneration & Relax' thermal circuit which includes a coca body wrapping, Maras salt exfoliation, massage, and hydration facial and reflexology. There are several versions of this. There is also a sauna and steam room, a gym, and the usual massage and facial services.

Access to the pool is free to guests lodged at the 128-room hotel, which has a total of 30 acres of riverside gardens and woodlands. The hotel features its own riverside railway station with a daily service to Machu Picchu, leaving at 06:50, returning at 18:30. The spa is open to non-hotel guests for S/.75/day (US$22) and is least busy in the morning. I’m lucky enough to live next door and take advantage of it almost every day. nicholasasheshov.com

The only thing I can say about this place is that I cannot wait to go back. What an amazing and unique resort! The building itself is amazing. It has the woody feeling of a ski lodge. The building is beautiful with very very high ceilings which gives you the feeling of a very open space. The rooms were large, well ventilated and beautiful. We had the rooms overlooking the mountains and they had a little porch in the front which allowed us to stay out in the morning and bask in the sun. The food is out of this world. Breakfast has an amazing variety of food, I have never seen a larger buffet and on top, you can also order from the menu at no additional cost. Dinner is also excellent and I personally preferred to dine there rather than to go out to the local restaurants, some of which were quite nice and a lot less expensive. But nothing can replicate the feeling of openness and romantic ambience of the hotel. The concierge service was also amazing, helpful in every detail and allowing us to get the most out of our trip. Good concierge service adds to the trip and here we have experienced the best service by everyone who manned that desk. It was not the case of one person only, but the whole team. The hotel has also a great bar serving snacks and drinks which has a huge mural. Our package included the hydrotherapy, which was quite an experience. For an hour you go through all kinds of water treatments, sauna etc. The only area that I thought could improve was that the pool is half in and half out of the building, which tends to make the while environment a bit cooler. Overall, really an amazing place and a unique experience.
