Friendly staff

Normally you don't need much help in Ollantaytambo as you probably have your tickets to Machu Picchu already sorted out and you see the ruins from almost everywhere in the village so you will never get lost. Anyway you may want to have a map or ask help to go for a hike and the friendly staff can help with that.

Located at Calle Principal, near main square. This is basically a tourist information center. Do not expect to get much information if you do not speak Spanish. But the staff was nice and friendly.

Went here in June 2015. Not sure if anyone spoke English when I was there. I just pointed to the ticket package that I wanted and then paid for it. Great location Great ruins.

A Great Help
Sep 2015 • Solo
I found both the gentlemen to be more than helpful here at the municipal offices in the center of Ollanta. Yes, I had to use my Spanish, but that was expected, as was the lack of colour brochures...though I must say the photocopied map was excellent and the highlighted walks gave some good and quieter alternatives to the citadel itself. Also, being able to buy hand spun/woven and dyed 'gifts' made (and signed) by local indigenous ladies brought back fond memories of decades ago. We must remember this is a tiny place, and I'm sure the local government has lots more to pay for, like general amenities and services for tourists rather than glossy tat which probably would end up being litter.

Muchas gracias Ollanta...y hasta pronto

Municipal Tourist Info. with maps and good information

Just off the main plaza. You can get maps, directions, suggestions. They'll outline some short, self directed walks into the surrounding countryside. Very nice, good English.

If you after a map this is the place for you, otherwise do you homework before you get here.

Unhelpful staff as far as we were concerned which is a shame because at all other places we have visited they were so helpful.

Went to get a map

Went to get a map and they were out. Asked when they would have more. They said they didn't know. They are not helpful and act rather put out when you ask a question. Information Center, not hardly.

We received good information from the people in this office, they organised a very reliable and friendly taxi driver to drive us to Moray & Salinas. His name was Jesus Gerrado Calcino Yana. Jesus acted as a tour guide and provided us with plenty of relevant information on various sites, etc

It's not a tourist center. It's a place to get a map.

Do not expect a lot of information. This is just a guy sitting at a desk handing out a local map. Do your own research before you arrive.
