A must on your bucket list! The Sun Gate can also be reached without doing the Inca Trek by following the signs after entering Machu Picchu and heading UP! my breath was taken away by the spectacular views. We were lucky and had few clouds. It was incredible to be so close yet still so far from Machu Picchu and... More

A couple of logistical things to consider. Many people... More

By far, the highlight of our trip - not for the unfit and so many unexpected gifts like waking up to our guide Ricardo's pan pipes music and a hot cup of cocoa tea

It was a lot of uphill walking with plenty of steep sections. After about 50 minutes, I had reached the top. It was an easier hike than the one up to Huayna Picchu. I went on a cloudy day and there was no view at the top. Advice is to do this hike on a clear day. On the way... More

The hike to get there was moderately arduous, but the destination was well worth it! The scenery kept our entire group entranced and upbeat the entire journey.

After trekking the Salkantay, hiking the 1:00 to the Sun Gate was almost like child's play! The views are exceptional!

The gate of the sun was a fabulous point from which to take in Machu Pichu after hiking all day on the Inca Trail. However, the hordes of young tourists knocking each other out of the way for pictures was less than ideal.
