We recently booked a trip to Machu Picchu, scheduled to leave in June. We've had nothing but problems. First I indicated that we needed to update our passports prior to G Adventures securing our trekking permits. They indicated that as long as they had the passports prior to mid-to-end of January, everything would be fine. Then, out of the blue,... More

I did the four day 3 night trek. It was breathtakingly spectacular every step of the way. It was gruelling and exhausting and definitely not easy, but it was worth every moment. The final trek into Machu Picchu is something I will never forget. Not for the unfit or feint of heart.

As you come up from the ticket office, you hike along a trail which enters this gateway. And there it is! Wow!

I didn't do the Machu Picchu Cusco Trek, but did walk some of the Inca Trail and the Sun Gate is the highlight. Regardless if you walk the trail, or take a bus to Machu Picchu and follow the signs to the Sun Gate, it is a viewpoint worth seeking! On one side of the Machu Picchu site you can... More

A must on your bucket list! The Sun Gate can also be reached without doing the Inca Trek by following the signs after entering Machu Picchu and heading UP! my breath was taken away by the spectacular views. We were lucky and had few clouds. It was incredible to be so close yet still so far from Machu Picchu and... More

The area around the "sacred valley" is pretty large. Most travelers will fly into Cusco, which was the Capitol of the Inca region. The plaza area merits exploring, as there are a great number of museums, historical sites, and buildings. Most people are after the "big thing", which is Macchu Picchu. A couple of logistical things to consider. Many people... More

By far, the highlight of our trip - not for the unfit and so many unexpected gifts like waking up to our guide Ricardo's pan pipes music and a hot cup of cocoa tea

It was a lot of uphill walking with plenty of steep sections. After about 50 minutes, I had reached the top. It was an easier hike than the one up to Huayna Picchu. I went on a cloudy day and there was no view at the top. Advice is to do this hike on a clear day. On the way... More
