No words can describe how beautiful is the view from up of this place, I know is very risky to walk all these crazy dangerous stone stairs, but is rewarding

Impressive Inca site
Sep 2019
Last Inca site before Macchu Picchu. The site has impressive terracing and is a good example of Inca planning and architecture. Great views, big steps to walk up and down but are in good condition.

Impressive site

I did the hike from KM 104 and this is where the point meet with the 4 days hike to Michu picchu. Impressive site and this serves as the last stop before arriving to Micchu picchu. The ruin has some of the best Inca terracing and great example of the ingenuousness of the Inca architecture. Fab Mountain View’s. Big steps to walk up and down but stairs in good conditions

If you ever get the chance to hike the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu take it! The hike is amazing and the site itself is out of this world...certainly on top of it!

Amazing Terraces
May 2019 • Friends
We camped at Winay Wayna our third night of hiking the Inca Trail and hiked the short distance to the actual ruins. The terraces are amazing, and provided supplemental food for the residents of Machu Picchu. We were blessed with a spectacular rainbow literally from the Temple of the Rainbow. As it was near dusk, we had the entire ruins to ourselves so it was a bit of a zen experience in preparation for our actual arrival to Machu Picchu the next day. Winay Wayne translates to Forever Young, and in a sense, that's how we felt. If you're hiking the Inca Trail, you need to visit these ruins.

Worth the effort
May 2019 • Couples
Though the views are likely better towards the Sun Gate, the effort to climb and see the Sun Gate to the Urambamba River, with the Machu Picchu Monument in the middle is awe inspiring. I'm 62 and did the up in 1 hour and 1/2. I stopped often to catch my breath and let others pass. It was shaded most of the way. Do not do this if you have fear of heights as the top part is a bit exposed. But I never felt unsafe. If you have trouble take big steps up or down then you might ought to train for this hike. I took one hiking pole and left one hand free for holding on to the railing or the wall.

Beautiful Terraces of Winaywayna
May 2019 • Couples
Along the Inca Trail (short or long trek) you enter the serene beauty of Winaywayna over looking the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Beautiful preserved terraces provide a panoramic view point nestled at more than 8,000 ft, showcasing the ancients masterful ability of agriculture.
This historical site is only accessible via the Inca trail and requires some preplanning and utilizing a trekking company. Only 200 permits a day. I highly recommend KUSA trek as your guide. Also, this day trek takes some work and effort, as you hike 10 miles with nearly 2500 ft in elevatin gain. Make sure you are in shape before taking on the journey.

Amazing, not to be missed
Mar 2019 • Couples
We stopped a Winay Wayna during our 2D Inca trail and were blown away by its beauty. Backed by a waterfall, dense forests and llama's grazing in the ruins, it was a sight to behold. There are steep steps to climb so be prepared. But it is totally worth it! It was an unforgettable experience forever etched in our memories.

Spectacular
Mar 2019 • Solo
This is about the half way point if you're doing the one-day Inca Trail and, I believe, close to where you spend your third night on the four-day trek.
