Right between avenues "Pedro de Osma" (at its very beginning) and "Almirante Miguel Grau", and in front of the "Iglesia de la Santísima Cruz" and the "Biblioteca Municipal de Barranco", you will find "Parque Municipal de Barranco". It is a typical neighborhood park, with a central pond, some marble statues brought from Italy, a small stage for public festivities and a few seating benches. As a matter of fact, a quite tacky park and should not be object of a specific visit. But, if you are strolling along "Barranco", with its so many important attractions, such as "Museo de Arte Contemporáneo (MAC)", "Museo Mario Testino (MATE)", "Museo Pedro de Osma", "Puente de los Suspiros" and the nearby pedestrian "Boulevard Sanchéz-Carrión" (a strip of restaurants, bars, cafés and clubs), just a quick stop, a few pictures of "Parque Municipal de Barranco" and you are done. Enjoy!

Love this area, it used to be my neighborhood when I lived in Peru. Bohemian, old and beautiful. Many bars around, close to Puente de los suspiros.

After walking the Barranco neighborhood we took a seat in the park to relax and watch the city move on around us. There are many things to see just a few blocks in any direction from the park so a good home base for larger groups wanting to walk around Barranco.

A fun and lively park right in the middle of Barranco and near the main square. Mostly locals loving their neighborhood there. Many many photo ops and great views of the sea below, the square, and the neighborhood itself.

Well worth checking out if you are in the area. I loved it.

This square shows at the highest degree the original features of Barranco district. Together with the Bajada de lo Baños and other nearby places, it talks us about the time when the neighborhood was formed, as a spot for residence or a seaside resort of Lima middle class. It’s then a place that well nurtures the nostalgia, with its low buildings, so discreet, but full of personality (like the Library), the central tree-lined space, many clues that tell of a bourgeois decor, dating back to an era in which the bourgeoisie was - especially in countries like Peru - a tiny part of society.
However, one can not interpret this place in terms of decline: Barranco, and in particular this area, have been able to reinvent themselves and, to what I understand, today is a bohemian, lively and animated district.
Unfortunately, the time at which we visited it (mid-morning on a weekday, during the austral winter) was not the most suitable to capture these lively features: the square was semi-deserted.
It was however one of the nicest spots of our visit in Lima.

OK, some people might say that's it's "just a park". However I think that it is without doubt a very romantic and ideal place to walk around a bit. If you are in walking distance, make sure to pass by and enjoy the atmosphere.

This is one of the nicer parks/squares in Lima. This is the main one in Barranco and has beautiful trees and palms, nice flower beds, plenty of benches and is fronted by the municipal library, several restaurants, coffee shops and the Church of the Holy Cross. It seems very placid and is clean -- a nice place to relax.
