Peruvian souvenirs at Avenida Petit Thouars in Miraflores!
Nov 2019
"Avenida Petit Thouars" - while in Lima, remember this avenue in the Miraflores District. It is famous for its markets selling the typical Peruvian souvenirs, although some may have been made in China ... a phenomenon that - sadly - is happening all over the world regarding the souvenirs commerce. "Inka Plaza" is one of the markets found at "Avenida Petit Thouars", with endless little shops selling whatever you may imagine. I like the fabrics, the colorful ceramic little bulls (locally known as "Toritos de Pucará", meaning home protection, happiness and fertility in the Peruvian culture) and the silver picture frames, for example. Take your time and stroll along this interesting market, remembering a little haggling is always possible. Enjoy!

Nice Tourist Market
Jan 2020
This is a nice tourist market in a safe area of Lima. Most of the things sold here are made in Peru but there are some things from China here so beware. Bartering is acceptable at many of these shops. We were there from a cruise ship but early in the morning, so it was not very busy. It did get much busier later. We found some very nice items - all hand made in Peru.

As in many markets to me the most touristy stuff is when you first enter, you have to go to the further back stalls to find stuff that is a bit more original. These markets are generally use to tourists prices need to be negotiated. Quality varies so do not buy at the first stop, there is a bit of hard pressure sales and if you buy something it is usually a no return policy. Just smile and say thank you when you want to go to the next shop. But I always start in the back as the people seem nicer and the stuff more interesting and original in the back section. This market is just across from the Indian Market which is a bit bigger, best to walk through both to see everything before buying anything.

I visited Inka market and Inka Plaza. Although there are great items, beware that most of the items are mass produced from China. I purchased a "Baby Alpaca" scarf and upon arriving home, I noticed the small tag that they probably forgot to remove that says, 100% polyester, made in China. I guess you get what you pay for. There is no way you can buy Baby Alpaca scarf at those prices.

I want to return something I just bought a few hours ago as my boyfriend bought the wrong item but the seller doesn't want to give me my money back and I don't like anything from her store to change it; besides she is very rude and told me she wasted her time with my boyfriend; store 199

Full of peruvian jewelry, stones, all kinds of art and clothes made of wool from the native animals, lots of manufacturers, ceramics, but, I found the prices not so much different than the shoppings at miraflores , larcomar , etc...
the tents are too simple for the prices to be almost the same as in a mall , but is worth to bargain with them !

My husband and I were after some souvenirs to take home. This is the place to go. We weren't after anything of high quality or expensive - we found pens, christmas tree ornaments, figurines, socks. All decent prices. Most of the stalls have the same, or similar, items. Seemed safe, decent location.

End of trip shopping for good quality handcrafts
Apr 2017 • Friends
Wide selection of traditional and modern flair handcrafts available from many vendors for best price. I didn't buy a lot on my travels to save space and weight en route so stocked up here. Good variety and value.
