This is a very special museum housed in the former and foremost Bolivian sculptor, Marina Núñez del Prado, who was married to a well known Peruvian writer. She dedicated her life to honor her Andean roots through her very impressive large size sculptures. She explored several media, wood, stone, bronze or iron and skillfully managed to transmit various aspects of the andean life she cherished. After her death the house and her works became part of a foundation which has recently being open to the public. The house sits in the middle of a lovely garden exhibiting some very large size sculptures which Marina intended for passers by to admire.
Parking can be difficult but one can enjoy a lovely walk to El Olivar Park and include the Museum as well. Bikes on the other hand are welcome and can be safely left inside the museum grounds.

This museum is in the middle of a beautiful park, with ancient olive trees. The museum is light filled and airy, set in a lovely garden, and perfectly showcases the beautiful sculptures.

We were shown around by a very special lady who was incredibly kind, helpful and informative. We have very little Spanish but somehow she communicated the history and context of the work despite the language barrier.

It is well worth a visit to this sanctuary!

The house and the are is not bad, mostly to escape from the noise of Lima. The museum doesn't have much. I would have liked to have a bit of history about her.

While researching places to visit during my time in Lima I read a review of Museo Marina Nunez Del Proado as an "undervisited gem.". The museum is located in the beautiful Bosque el Oliver park of San Isidro. After registering with the guard we were warmly greeted by Mariela, our wonderful guide of the property. Since our spanish is in training and not many Peruvians speak english we were pleased with Mariela's excellent english. The tour of the artist's home (now museum) exceeded expectations. Her sculptures, inside and outside, were fantastic. Her vision and use of multiple mediums had me capturing every aspect of her art. The house was in the original style and contained many beautiful personal items and gifts of art from her colleagues. You will not regret including this treasure in your itinerary. Thank you Mariela.

Living in Lima, I'm always looking for great new places to check out. I discovered this museum via the website of the municipality of San Isidro under its tourism section. It's located near one of Lima's best parks, El Olivar.

Fantastic sculpture work and out guide was really top-notch. Get this: the museum is free and the guide was, too. She refused to accept a tip!

Highly-recommended.

Totally useless. Websites say it is open, the sign on the gate says open but caretaker now says it is closed indefinitely. Do not bother.

Located in the Parque El Olivar (a true olive orchard) in the San Isidro neighborhood, this museum was the home and studio fo Marina Nunez del Prado, and incredible sculptor. Her sculptures are mostly of women, birds and bulls. Very evocative of Quechua women, often depicting stylized representations of women carrying infants on their backs.
Beautiful setting, many works and a lovely tour from Teresa, a painter herself who is curator and was a friend of Marina.

We, too, stumbled upon this house museum while walking in the El Olivar section of Lima and saw signs for the museum in the park. Her sculptures are very engaging and thought provoking. We received a nice tour in Spanish but weren't hurried. The house itself is beautiful and worth touring.
