I've been to Lima a few times now and never have I ever had such an awesome, authentic, fun, delicious tour. The guide (David) is awesome and super knowledgeable, the spots he has hand selected to visit are super authentic and quant, and the experience is just awesome. In just one day, I felt like I had seen everything in Lima. Absolutely awesome. If you're in Lima, you HAVE to do this tour.

Check out this video I made of the whole experience :)

A delicious tour of fun and excitement, if you are visiting Peru for the first time or making a re-vist you must make a reservation with Da Taste of Peru for an outstanding personal food tour of some of Lima's finest food discoveries. Your personal guide David will greet with a big Peruvian smile and welcome you with a quck start of the tour with fresh brewed coffe. From there you travel around Lima's finest sights and go deep into the city to experience the true nature of Peru. The tour takes to an open market not flooded with typical tourists and experience the taste of Peru's exotic fruits and vegetables, also see the authentic local food market at its best with fish and meats and all other goods. Then you travel to Barranco, the environment is an old western city but the delights are heightened by the culture of the city way different then the touristy Mia Flores area. The Lucia milkshakes a native favorite is far the best I've ever experienced! From there you arrive at the Plaza de Armas, there you experience your pisco sours at Bar Cordano and make your own ceviche a Peruvian favorite. The tour was one of the best highlights of my trip. David was not only well knowledgeable of the Peruvian history and food but he was well diverse in English and gave you the feel that you known him for years. So the experience was but both amazing and awesome to have a friend show you around the city keying in with all of the sights and attractions. The finale to our day tour was a ocean view lunch at Cala. A great meal to end tour with. A highly recommended tour for two or more it is worth the value and time. David was like a good friend and makes you feel very special as you tour around Lima to experience as you may never do on your own!

Thank you so much for choosing to tour with us during your stay in Lima. I was really thrilled when Peru won! They deserved it! You are right! The Huaca Pucllana is really breathtaking! We can stay forever looking at it. Thanks Laury & Douglas.

David met us at the Belmond Miraflores Hotel and proceeded to take us to one of the greatest restaurants in South America, to an iconic coffee place, to the sights we knew we wanted to see and others that we realised we should have known about. He is charming, intelligent, empathetic, knowledgable, friendly - all that anyone could ever ask for. Bravo.

Visiting Peru for a work trip and decided to take a pisco sour and ceviche class with a friend. This was the wrong class. First, it was in a dodgy part of town in a very small, random cevicheria with soap operas or something playing on a tv in the corner, That could have been ok, but then poor David (the guide) mixed up the ingredients for the pisco sours. Instead of lime juice, he used fish stock. I am not even kidding. It was a fish-head sour.

I went to the washroom (i thought I was going to throw-up), but then had to leave quickly given the stench of urine. In the end, neither of us could really enjoy the corrected piscos or the actual ceviche because of the fishheadsour. David only charged us for the ceviche, not the pisco and I think he was pretty embarrassed. But needless to say, this is not recommended.

It was really really gross. really.

(English) Everyone enjoys when he/she is willing to live his/her own experiences, and these experiences, at the same time, will have diverse conditions. If I feel I am willing to do something and I observe that that may be improved, then, I will not be a disqualifier, but a promoter, and I will help with my comments. Unfortunately, some people tend to be disqualifier, instead of being helpful, and many times without solid grounds. They rather segment reality, and expose their ideas as they want others to see them, looking for allies who support their disqualification. If there is willingness, there is a meeting point. If we want to enjoy, we will do our best. We are always willing to improve. Si queremos disfrutar, vamos a hacer nuestro mejor esfuerzo. Nosotros siempre estamos dispuestos a mejorar.

So I had my boyfriend come from New York to visit and meet my family back in Lima and he knows the one thing I talk about the most about Lima is the food, so he was very excited to learn, cook and eat everything he could.
I was looking for a small company that could help me show him everything worth seeing and eating in Lima and would take the responsibility off me and I could not have made a better choice. We arrived from New York and after a day with the family went to Cusco, on our way back to Lima we had a slight delay of about half an hour and then had to wait even longer since our bags were the last to come out but David was there waiting for us which was awesome since I was worried about how long we were taking, and neither me or my bf have phones that work in Peru, so no way of communicating.
The tour was so personalized, with small groups of no more than 6 people you definitely feel u can just stop and enjoy and we really appreciated not being rushed from point A to point B And have time to stop and take pictures or shop. I learned a lot of stuff I didn't know, including how to make ceviche and we even got aprons for the class and got to keep them which was a nice touch.
All and all we enjoyed it SO much and my bf is recommending it to all of our friends back in New York, he really can't stop talking about it and feels so proud of himself for being able to now cook "real Peruvian ceviche" LOL.
Thank you so much David, the English was also great so I didn't have to be the designated translator which was a hassle for me in other locations we visited 😊 THANKYOU!

So glad your boyfriend and you had such a great time with us. Well, I gave you my word I would be waiting for you at the arrivals terminal. So, nothing would move me from that place:) I am very gleeful to hear that your bf is able to cook Ceviche. Thank you Mayi!

Really enjoyed this tour. David, our host, did a great job combining his experience and knowledge of the city to bring us to various locations which any visitor would want to see. Got a great feel for several areas of Lima by visiting various neighborhoods, stopping at a large fresh food market (eating some new fruits) and walking down historical streets. This tour includes a stop at a small restaurant where we threw an apron on and made our own ceviche and pisco sours. What a better way to learn about a culture than immersing yourself in the food. Highly recommend this tour for anyone.

Da Taste of Peru Night Tour is one of the best tours I have ever taken, all for one simple reason - our tour guide David. We spent a wonderful evening visiting the best parts of Lima, and of course eating absolutely delicious food . David took great care in planning the itinerary and even added a gourmet cafe halfway through when he found out how much we love coffee. We learned so much about Peru's culture and history, while enjoying many foods we had never had experienced before. David gave us many tips we used later on in the tour, and our entire trip was better for having taken his tour.

For anyone travelling with celiac disease, I would like to note that David personally visited all the restaurants we visited beforehand. He made sure that the food would be gluten free and that the kitchens took the appropriate steps to avoid cross-contamination.

David is a superb guide. He was able to accommodate us on a short notice and gave us a personalized tour. Due to a holiday, we were unable to go to the historic district so David tailored our tour around it. He took us to a traditional market where we had the chance to walk around and taste delicious, unique native fruits and he waited patiently when we decided to buy a few things. We also went to a specialty coffee shop, Origin, not in an elegant district but just an extraordinary coffee shop were they grind the coffee in front of you. The smell was amazing and the taste of Peruvian Andean coffee even better. We also had amazing empanadas. Later on he took us to a little restaurant and we learned to make and enjoy our own Peruvian ceviche and pisco sours. We also learned about and tasted different types of Pisco, a Peruvian liquor. As a gift, David gave us our own Taste of Peru aprons. Throughout the tour, David’s knowledge and camaraderie was excellent. Will recommend this tour to anybody that would like a unique tour to the beautiful city of Lima with an excellent cooking lesson.

David was an excellent guide and this tour was a highlight of our trip to South America! We were picked up promptly and shown through several neighborhoods. David provided a lot of history about Lima and the culinary aspects of the city and region - he was very knowledgeable of Peruvian culture and shared his knowledge in a warm, conversational style. The tour of the market was very interesting and we saw and tasted some of the local fruits and other food items. The cooking experience making ceviche and pisco sours was the best - both were delicious and it was a lot of fun learning how to make them. We expressed an interest in obtaining some pisco while in the city and he willingly stopped by a store for us to purchase some. He was genuinely concerned and went out of his way to make sure we were enjoying our time in Lima and our tour. He is a tremendous ambassador for Lima and provided a wonderful tour. I highly recommend Da Taste of Peru!
