Most definitely one of the most beautiful parks in lima, although it's off the tourist track so it does not often get the mention it deserves. This park has a working mini steam engine, and buying a ticket will get you two trips around the park with a guide that tells you some interesting facts about the train, the history of Surco and it's arch. The arch itself is quite beautiful, and if you're feeling up to it you can take the stairs all the way to the top. Next to the arch there is a large pond for paddle boating and feeding the fish and ducks. Near the entrance you'll find a reasonably sized kids playground which is fenced in nicely and has an adjoining childrens bathroom. A thoughtful touch, if you ask me!
In the center of the park is a square which features small eateries, specializing in cuisine from the four corners of Perú, as well as a Caja China, and a good assortment of cart foods.
If you'd rather have something a bit more formal, there is a small restaurant near the train station that offers a "menú" (set daily lunch specials) that offers good food at a reasonable price. Tried the "arroz con pato" last time and it was great!
The park is also a hub for the municipality, and so there always seems to be something fun happening here, whether it be a pisco festival, open air theatre, or any other number of events.
Well kept & always beautiful, this park should become a must see on Lima's tourist circuit, or at least for those of us who have the time to enjoy it.

I love this park, I've been there more than 10 times with my family. Is a perfect place for a fullday. They have their own restaurant, a small lagoon with ducks, burds and fish. You can feed them also. You can access the Arch wich is a gift from the Spain Goverment to Perú. The best part of course is the Old Vapor Train, it works with water, you need to enter the Old train station and wait for the train, is a very beautiful experience for kids and family. There is a zone with many restaurants, like a mini boulevard. There is a theatre, games for kids all over the place and great views. Is a must for a family day.

Excellent family friendly park in the centre of Surco District. We enjoyed the train ride around the park and the kids, the cheese pizza at La Piccolina Ristorante.

Nice relaxing park in a busy area in the district of Surco! Many activities for kids, nice paths for walks, ample supply of restaurants and many places to sit and pass time with friends or family. Free entrance and the lawns are very nicely kept, however you can not sit on the grass and they need a few more benches and outdoor tables. Pretty at night as well!

I visited with my family, on a Thursday; we were three adults and one 7 y.o.boy; and each one of us enjoyed the place. The pond with the paddle boats has ducks, swans, South American coots, etc. The small train goes around the park while a guide tells the story of Santiago de Surco, which is the name of the town where the park is located. We fed the doves, we had cremolada (shaved ice with syrup, but deliciously Peruvian, mine had a combination of granadilla and cherimoya syrup), it was a great afternoon for a little amount of money. It's open for business between Tuesday to Sunday from 8am to 10pm.
