This company operates under the name Caral Tours Travel Service or simply Caral Tours even though the official name is Allpacoto Travel. Their tours are not necessarily private tours. I took a one day tour from Lima to the Caral archaeological site with this company. I had specifically requested a tour of Caral, and they sent me details of a tour including both Caral and Bandurria (another site), which I booked. When the tour commenced I found that it was going to Caral and another site called Vichama, but not to Bandurria. (A brochure produced by the company shows that they offer a combined Caral/Bandurria tour and also a combined Caral/Vichama tour, and also other tours combining Caral with something else, so they must have made a mistake in telling me which one was actually running on the day when I wished to travel.) This was actually not a problem for me, because I had only requested Caral and I did not mind which other site was included, but anyone with a particular interest in the other site would be advised to check carefully whether the tour they have been offered was indeed the one which is running on that day. At Caral, all tour groups are required to be accompanied by a local guide who speaks only Spanish. Caral Tours provided an English speaking guide who accompanied our tour and translated for me (I was the only English speaker in the group), but I think that she did not translate everything that the local guide had said. I do not blame her for this as it would have been impossible for anyone but a professional language translator to capture everything the Spanish guide had said, and of course Caral Tours employs people trained as guides, not trained as translators. I am sure that the same issue would arise with any of the other companies who run tours to Caral.
