Wide selection of different chocolate products. The local guide spoke so quietly that nothing could be heard. Prices, of course, as for tourists.

Fun place that's delicious, informative and great for young kids(or the young at heart)

This was a great adventure - albeit a tame, sweet one. My 3 and 6 year old adored this experience. We all agreed that the best part was the wonderful guide and the choclate making (and tasting) itself. Grownups in the group liked the tour, too, and it wasn't overwhelming for the kids (it's just a couple rooms and takes just a few minutes). We ate lunch in the cafe beforehand and they served us easily - we are vegetarians with a child with a tree nut allergy. No problem for this place. Try the make your own hot chocolate.

Tasty experience, learned lots about chocolate!

Did the Bean to Bar workshop in Miraflores and my husband and I enjoyed the private tour/workshop. Fun evening activity and value for the money - we left with bundles of custom-flavored chocolates and got to try different kinds of hot chocolate while learning about the history of the customs/traditions. They need to update their website though - we first went to the Barranco location after emailing them (with no response) and found that it's now closed.

Worth a visit

It's not so much a museum as a small shop that has plaques to explain how cocoa is processed. It will take you n more than 10minutes to walk around it. There's a small but nice area to have a drink in. There was a workshop in process while I was there and they seemed to be having fun so might be worth considering.

Waste of time and a lot of money

So from the shop, I hunted down the little 'museum' and 'workshop' a few streets away.

The free museum is a couple of photos and sentences.

Really, the whole thing is a setup to try to sell you very expensive workshops and chocolate products. I do mean expensive. Total tourist trap!

Fine if you want to spend a bomb on very little but not so much if you were hoping to learn something interesting and buy something in return - as I was.

I can't tell you if the chocolate is worth the price as I didn't buy any

First priority on list of museums in Lima
Mar 2016 • Solo
Enrique at ChocoMuseo gave me an excellent personal tour of the chocolate museum. It is a compact but rich place where I gained a finer appreciation of how cocoa beans are grown organically in 4 main regions of Peru and crafted into delicious high quality chocolate. I had a short tour and made various flavours of chocolates that I took away to eat. There is a wide selection of chocolate liquors, tea and other chocolate and cocao related products on sale at the museum/cafe. It is suitable for all ages including children as young as 4. Highly recommended.

Had a blast at the "From Bean to Bar" class. Definitely a highlight!

For less than $25 USD, I took an almost three hour class/happy hour with a group of friends from the Spanish school I was attending in Miraflores. We made a last minute decision to head there and were lucky enough that they held a class for just the five of us (it was a scheduled class time). We learned about how and where chocolate is made, which was interesting to me, as a tour guide in the US.

Our guide, Enrique, spoke Spanish and English and offered the class completely in English. I was comfortable enough to start speaking with him in Spanish and we bantered back and forth while roasting chocolate, etc. He was such a fantastic part of the experience!

We made three different drinks and then our own chocolates, with plenty of extras to add into it. If you enjoy chocolate and would love to spend some "touristy" time having a great experience and learning about Peruvian culture, definitely take this tour. Bring some friends!

Fantastic Chocolate Workshop
Mar 2016 • Friends
I would give a five star review for the Bean to Bar chocolate making workshop in Miraflores, which was phenomenal,
but have tacked off a star for the "museum" component, which was pretty lackluster.

We made three different drinks as well as our own chocolates, actually starting from the beans which we peeled, roasted, and ground. The instructor also gave quite a bit of background on the development of the chocolate industry, with particular emphasis on its history in Aztec culture and the role of Peru.

The museum itself is just one big room with a few different informational graphics and a gift shop. There is also a cafe, with some outdoor seating. I didn't try any of their menu items (other than of course all the chocolate during the workshop) but did have a delicious local chocolate Pilsner while waiting on my chocolate bars to cool down in the fridge.

I highly recommend attending a workshop but wouldn't go out of my way just to see the museum or visit the cafe.

Great workshops!
Jan 2016 • Solo
I did the bean to bar workshop at the chocomuseo in miraflores and had a fabulous morning! Very interesting to find out all the information, to make the bars from scratch and to find out everything that goes on in the process. They guys/girls working there are very knowledgeable! It's lovely to see how they support the local cocoa plantation workers to and how everything is natural and home made! Best of all you get to make your own chocolate bars to take home with you! Fantastic, fun and tasty!!
