To the south of Chorrillos is the headland Morro Solar. You can get transport up to get a spectacular view across southern Lima. Here are a number of attractions but its mainly the view. It is rather bleak and windy. There is a war memorial to an unknown soldier killed in the Peru, Chile war of the 1880's. The huge pylon is a cross built for Pope John Paul II's visit and is lit up at night. Beside this is a shrine to the Virgin Mary. Further up the hill is the recently added Christ of the Pacific statue and beyond that a Planetarium.

A giant cross sits on the top of the Chorrillos mountain and at night is well lit, to see it it from a distance. The view from the top makes you aware of your personal situation in life.
The very wealthy live a life of luxury and next to them, the very poor live a meager lifestyle, hopefully they are blessed with optimism and the strength to live a full life.

Chorrillos is predominantly a fishing district. We visited the shanty town on the hill behind and found it very interesting. The cross and statues of the virgin on the headland are worth a visit and the view from the top of the cliffs nearby is stupendous

Rented a car, was driving through this city when someone grabbed me and my phone through a half-cracked-open window. This was ironically just after passing by the Christ statue. Please do not keep your smart phones or anything valuable in sight if you value them. Met a few people in peru with similar stories of stolen phones. Stay safe :)

The beaches in summer are impossible to go due to the huge crowds and garbage laying in the sand, specially on weekends

Chorrillos is great historical district of Lima. It has history, architecture, best beach in Lima, artesanal fishmarket with pelicans and food, it has number of great restaurants, one of Limas best one as well. In Chorrillos you can find nature and legends, view and authenticity of people. Make sure you take a walking tour to not miss all it has. On the south side of the district there are swamps pantanos de villa where you can escape from the city totally...

We stayed in Barranco first but had to change hostels and ended up in Chorrillos without knowing much about the place. Alex, a local tour guide showed us around for free and we discovered a different Lima with more nature and really offering a seaside and cool places and restaurants! It is still close to Barranco to go out and not far from main attractions using the subway.
Enjoy!

Nothing special really, I found it in my way running at the beach.
After 6pm no many people walking there, is noisy because of cars, but good to run close to the ocean and enjoy sunset.

My aunt has a restaurant inside a mercado across from Plaza vea so we would come here on the Metropolitano from Los olivos

Olá. É verdade que você pode comprar peixe e ele pode ser preparado na hora por outra loja dentro do próprio mercado ?

Ciao a tutti!
Ringrazio già in anticipo chi mi risponderà ! 😊
