I HIGHLY recommend Eternal Wave Surfing. I have been surfing 2 others time in my life (Costa Rica & California) and this was by FAR the best experience I have had. The lesson in the beginning is wonderful and then in the water Carlos (or another one of his team) individually helps you catch a wave, gives you tips and will even help push your board (give you that extra boost you need). I absolutely loved it and say this is a Must-Do activity while you are in Lima.

Carlos and his team is incredible. They’re great at teaching you the right technique to get up on the board, and having fun out there! I have surfed a few times before and my surfing got exponentially better in my 2 lessons with Eternal Wave. I’m sticking with them for the whole month I’m here. I highly, highly recommend them.

We traveled from New York to visit family in Lima. Carlos and his assistant were so helpful for our first time surfing!! We met them on the beach and were provided with swim shirts and surf boards. Carlos’ speaks excellent English, which was very helpful, considering our terrible Spanish. We started by stretching and learning the technique of how to stand up. I am totally clumsy, but they gave me the confidence to do it! Both myself and fiancé stood up the first time
and rode several waves!! It was such a wonderful experience and I would highly recommend it to anyone!

Surfing with the boys from Eternal Waves was one of the best experiences i ever had. If you are in Lima and want to learn how to surf than you should definietly go to Eternal Wave. I was in Lima for just one day and I wanted to have some surf lessons. Carlos and Alonso had spontainisly time to give me a lesson. It was more like learning with friends instead of learning with teachers and it was so fun. I would just go back to Peru to learn more from them.

Not recommendable. This surfing lesson and experience would have turned me off surfing had I not learned to surf in Ireland before. Both myself and my boyfriend can surf but we underestimated our surfing experience so we would get beginners lessons at a beginner beach. Instead we were brought to a beach which was facing a stone wall and which the waves were crashing so much it was hard to get in and out of the water. The water was dangerous and really there should have been two surfing instructors for each of us. Worst was Carlos was surfing himself throughout our supposed lesson. To surf with Eternal wave you will pay 390 soles. This is in comparison to the 60 soles you would pay for the same private instructor in Miraflores beach. Our 390 soles bought us a eternal wave sticker, Carlos's business card, bottle of water and lousy surf experience in peru.

I am really sorry you guys did not have a good experience with Eternal Wave. The beach we surfed, Barranquito, is the ideal beach for beginners. Although the barricade seems a little intimidating, it is in fact what makes the beach safe. It acts as a blockade from the much bigger waves you will experience as you head further up the coast. As far as the price I run this school by myself. That means all equipment, gas, time comes from my pocket. The prices you refer to in Miraflores are run by larger companies (many chains) and are able to set up tents next to each other on the beach for the entire day. Convenience wise it is great but the quality is not that great. I try to cater my lessons to each student personally. If you are ever in Peru again I would love to change your mind about Eternal Wave and show you a better experience. Thank you for your comment

Carlos was incredible at teaching my sister and me how to surf. He accommodated our schedule and we went for a wonderful afternoon surf! I thought he was professional and safety was taken into consideration. The time was great and he even drove us back to our hotel in Miraflores. I would HIGHLY recommend doing this while staying in Lima!

This was absolutely a highlight of my whole trip in Perú! I'd always wanted to try surfing but the opportunity never came up. So I decided to just do it and I'm super glad my first time was with the guys at Eternal Wave. I learned a lot, developed a love for a great hobby, felt safe and watched over, and Carlos, Jesus and Mauricio made me and my group feel like we'd all been good friends for forever and were just hanging out and catching some waves.

I wrote Carlos last minute the night before and he gave me all the info I needed to know how to arrive and how to reach him. I did the "Before Office" morning group session and was recognized and welcomed as soon as I arrived. Our group was given a brief but thorough 20 minute warm-up, stretch, instructional and practical lesson on how to stand on the board and then we hit the waves! Jesus and Mauricio were friendly and knowledgeable hands-on instructors and we surfed one at a time with one of them guiding us and giving tips. It was such an awesome rush! Carlos was on the walk taking pictures and video of my group members and I and he was cool enough to toss me some water when I asked for it! Throughout the lesson, the instructors were very vigilant for our safety, which was reassuring. When we were through, we all hung out for a bit, had some cake for Jesus's birthday and Carlos drove me home a couple districts away. Super chill time.

Some advice: Use common sense! Surfing is tough and there's inherent risk in any water sport. It was a full body workout and exhausting to learn so you need to be a good swimmer and in moderately decent shape to be safe and get the most out of a lesson. Also, if you're prone to motion sickness, just know that you might be affected by the waves and salt water. Be aware, too, that the waves can be big so pay attention to your surroundings and be alert for the oncoming waves. Make sure you bring some water, a change of clothes, a bag for your wet clothes and a towel. And have a blast! You're going to hang out with some of the coolest people, you're going to fall, you're going to get tired and sore, you're going to actually stand a couple of times and it's going to be amazing. You're not going to forget this experience!

I found Carlos and Eternal Wave on Tripadvisor and contacted him through his website. When we arrived in Lima I touched base with him that we were on for the next day and he was prompt in responding. The next morning my fiancé and I were picked up by Carlos and one of his other instructors. They were a real delight. I enjoyed their conversation and chatting with them on the way to the beach. When we got there we got to ride a few waves and it was a very cool experience. Later that evening Carlos picked us up for a tour of downtown Lima and Barranco. Both were really cool and we even went to water lights show which was a cool unique experience we would've never had if we didn't meet up with Carlos. All in all, it was the most fun we could of had in Lima because Carlos was our guy!

Very surprised and a little sceptical about all these 5 star reviews after my experience! There is no doubt that Carlos is a good teacher but our experience left us feeling scammed. My friend and I received max 5 mins theory even though we expressly said we wanted to improve technique (shown how to pop up only once), had one instructor between two people and were taken to a beach where the waves were very strong and crashed us into the wall on entry and exit. I have surfed before and am confident in the water but felt quite unsafe, at one point I was knocked off my board as I tried to avoid Carlos surfing a wave coming toward me. It was mentioned that the other beaches were more crowded, we checked out miraflores later in the day and there was only a handful of people there. We were also offered the exact same package less transfers for 60 soles pp, Carlos charged 185 soles. Feel ripped off. The other reviews worry me as we booked the service based on these and feel mislead!

I am sorry you had this experience man. I work really hard to try and make sure my students are not only safe but also receive there moneys worth. As far as the waves it is difficult to control these things and of course with all extreme sports there is a always a little risk involved but I am sorry you felt unsafe. For the price, I work for myself, by myself. The classes are cheaper on Makah because the schools have the ability to sit in a tent all day and wait for tourists so the market there is more competitive but not necessarily of higher quality. I hope to change your mind about Eternal Wave if you find yourself in Peru sometime in the future. Thanks!
