This bridge is super charming and sits in the heart of the Barranco surrounded by so many great restaurants and bars. It's part of a beautiful park with cool sculptures and near a tunnel full of awesome graffiti. In fact, the whole neighborhood as amazing graffiti. AND this is your gateway to the beach, so leads to many wonderful things beyond.

The Bridge of Sighs is a nice place to go see in Lima if you are in the neighborhood. The surrounding area is also a nice place to wander around. Nice bridge and a lush area surrounding and under the bridge. Walk dow below to get a different view.

The story says that young brides were supposed to cross the bridge holding their breath to find their true love. When they reached the other side and they started breathing again, a sigh was heard and relief was brought back to their lungs.
Once you have tried, hoping to find your true love, don´t forget to go back and stop in the middle of the bridge and look to the west, a beatiful view of the street below and the constructions on each side that will tell you part of history of Lima, beautiful houses, an old church on your right, and don´t miss walking along the street that opens to your right, it will take you to a nice cafe and restaurants hidden away from the crowd, coupled with a magnificent view of the coast.

There is a few thinks to see around and it's a path to the seashore.
Nice green square where you can walk and find nice graffiti, some cafes and galleries, hippies selling their crafts and two churches falling apart :-(.

Barranco is a really pretty spot. The Bridge of Sighs is so named because the tradition is to think of a wish, then hold your breath the entire way as you walk across the bridge, and "make the wish". You need to take a big breath. By the time you get to the other side, you let out any air left in your lungs, so you can take a breath in ......thus you make a sigh!! :-)

This place is a must visit if you love to hang out in the evenings / night. There are many bars in this area. The pub culture out here is great. The atmosphere out here is great. You can sit for hours here. The people of Lima are friendly. You can strike a conversation with many and enjoy your time here.

Firstly the bridge is under construction, so this might be an unjustified review since technically there was no bridge. But repairs aside, I honestly think this was more romanticised because of the legend behind its name.
I didn't enjoy the atmosphere as we were walking down the trail. There were these restaurants with hawkers, and it genuinely felt like a suffocating tourist trap. The end of the trail provided a beautiful view of the ocean though.
Despite my growing disappointment with the "heart of the bohemian neighbourhood", I discovered that it was best to divert your walk to the surrounding areas away from the bridge. This was when we discovered the charming restaurants, bars, coffee shops and art galleries that this district promised to deliver.

There's a cute story behind why this bridge is called the Bridge of Sighs. But the bridge itself and the area near it isn't anything breathtaking. If you're in the area, it's worth a stroll but don't go out of your way for it.

The Bridge of Sighs is located in the District of Barranco (south of Miraflores). It has long been regarded as a romantic place where couples gather. There are restaurants and pubs in the area. Some are good; others range from average to poor. By walking along the upper right side of the cliff towards the sea, you can find two pubs with a good view of the ocean and torch-lit areas.
