I used Peruvian Local Friend for 2 excellent tours while in Lima. Cindy was my guide for both tours and she was fun to be with and able to share a lot of local history and information with me. I did the 5 hour Barranco & Miraflores walking tour where we visited local artwork, parks, sea vistas, markets, as well as an extensive visit at Huaca Pucllanta. A few days later I enjoyed the 8 hour Lima Centre walking tour. We walked by the exterior or visited the interior of many places including Las Nazarenas, Casa de Osambela, Pargue La Muralla, Iglesia y Convento de Santo Domingo, Jiron de la Union, Government Palace, Changing of the Guard, Plaza de Armas, Cathedral de Lima, Chabuca Granda park, Museo del Convento de San Francisco, Mercado Central, Chinatown, Iglesia de San Pedro, Palacio Torre Tagle, Mucen/Bcr Museo, Iglesia de la Merced, Plaza San Martin, and the Palacio de Justicia. Also, communication before and after the tours with Sandra and Alfonso was fantastic and super helpful. Note that I used Peruvian Local Friend while in Cusco and have posted a separate review under Cusco Tours.

Peruvian local friend was a GREAT company to use for our first trip to Peru! They were awesome in helping us create a perfect itinerary spanning both Lima and Cusco. Email responses were always quick and comprehensive. Customer service was top tier. They did a great job of giving us options to explore what would be the best for us. I would highly recommend using them to plan a trip! It made the trip so much smoother having all of our guides and transportation pre arranged. Evelyn in Cusco was a particularity good guide! Thank you!

With a 12-hour layover in Lima, we decided to take a tour with Peruvian Local Friend. We were met at the airport by our driver and joined our guide in downtown Lima. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the history and architecture of the area and we appreciated his flexibility and ability to alter plans to meet our interests. We spent some time in the beautiful Barranco and Miraflores areas before heading back to the airport. Lima is a very large city and takes a lot of time to drive through. I would not recommend trying to navigate this city on your own. This was a very good value to complete our time in Peru.

An excellent tour of the city for our entire family of varied interests. We arrived in Peru early morning 3/6 from Dallas and about 2 hours after landing, we took this tour. We of course knew nothing about Lima, beyond what we'd read online so we were eager to embrace the culture and history. We were met in our hotel lobby by our guide and our driver, and our tour began. It was a beautiful day, allowing us to do as much walking as we desired, with the flexibility to hail our driver for any areas we wished to either bypass, or just see from the vehicle (we were a bit tired!). The experience did not disappoint! We saw some of the prettiest aspects of the city - the artist areas (including the beautiful bath slope), markets, statues, palace, parks, churches, the river, the pyramid, and more. We stopped and had hand crafted ice cream where the owners allowed us to taste each and every flavor and they were all incredible. Our guide was so wonderful in taking family photos, encouraging us to experience the culture through trying our (terrible) Spanish and walking through shops, stopping to see, hear, smell, taste, and touch so much of Lima. We talked about the history of the city, the people, learned about the different neighborhoods and how people associate the city with their particular neighborhood. We saw SO much in this 5 hours and felt very lucky to have had this experience. Our guide and driver both left us with a yearning to spend more time in the city and see areas we didn't get to see (there was a park we would have liked to have had a picnic in, and will do so next time!). The funniest part was around the palace there are riot police. Our guide talked to them and got them to take a photo with us - which would be unheard of in many places in the world. Truly a terrific tour and incredible value for the money. Would do again!

We met our guide in a convenient meeting place in Miraflores and toured the area before heading to downtown Lima. Our guide was extremely well versed in the history of Lima and provided a number of suggestions for our self tour the second day we were in town. The driver was extremely safe, which was appreciated given the traffic in Lima. The downtown area is full of historical buildings and square and was very worthwhile, but I wouldn't want to do it on my own, or would miss much and possibly end up in areas where we'd be uncomfortable. Next time I'm in Peru it's Machu Picchu and Peruvian Local Friend will be our guide.
