Our Machu Picchu, Sacred Valley & Cusco trip with Adventures to Peru was amazing. Before the trip I had a lot of anxiety about traveling during the covid-19 pandemic, but once we arrived in Peru everything was super easy since we didn’t have to worry about transportation, tickets, or the endless small minutia that a trip like this requires. Adventures to Peru did an excellent job handling it all for us.
Sean and the staff at Adventures to Peru were really easy to work with and planned the trip to meet our needs. My high-school age daughter was primarily interested in language, food & culture. We were able to visit many archaeological sites, different types of markets, and we even stopped and sampled local foods, like roasted Guinea Pig. Despite a very full itinerary we never felt rushed, and had plenty of time to enjoy the warm and friendly people, beautiful sights, and culture in the areas we were visiting.
While we were planning our trip I expressed concerned about adjusting to the high altitude. To make the adjustment easier Adventures to Peru arranged our trip to start in the Sacred Valley, followed by Machu Picchu, then Cusco last as it was the highest elevation on our trip. We had no problems, which was a big relief because I’m married to someone who becomes severely ill at far lower altitudes than we visited (spouse was not along on this trip).
The majority of our trip we were led by our fantastic guide Rene, who has a very impressive knowledge of the history, culture, building methods, horticulture, food, etc., for all of the areas we visited. Rene also took care of getting me to a local medical clinic for a few stitches after I walked into a wall one night (he really is a nice guy!)
At the time of our trip we were required to double-mask and there were occasional face shield requirements. I was impressed with the how compliant everyone was in following the rules. Our guides also made sure we were socially distancing as much as possible (although hard to do on planes, buses and trains filled to capacity).

In short words:
ATP is 100% professional: perfect planning, prefect support (prior and during the trip), perfect ideas, great flexibility. We were positively shocked by the great service received during our fantastic tour to Peru!
Full story:
We were thinking about the itinerary long before Covid era, we started talking to Sean in 2019. We contacted several local agencies, and we quickly noticed Sean is the guy to move on with. He came with quick response, and interesting itinerary. We exchanged tons of e-mails, we were adopting the plan to fit our needs. We were always getting quick, professional replies, our questions were always well understood, Sean was coming with great ideas and suggestions as well. We ended up with perfect itinerary, paid deposit and was waiting for July 2020... Everyone knows what has happened in March 2020…
We cancelled the trip, got Airlines to pay us back for tickets, got voucher from Sean (no issues with that too, all was handled in very professional way) and was waiting for better times. We ended up buying next tickets for July 2021, but these got cancelled too…
And then since we were both changing our job, we got 3 weeks of extra vacation which had to be spent in October 2021. Covid conditions were fine at this moment, and we came with an crazy idea to go to Peru (we live in Norway)! We called Sean in the middle of September and asked him: “Sean, can you fix entire trip, so we can come to Peru in about 2 weeks?”… He said: “Let me check…” He checked and said: “Let’s do it guys”. We immediately booked tickets and started packing. These 2 weeks were full of messages between ATP and us, since Covid caused some re-adjustments were needed. I can’t find a words to say how thankful we are for extremely hard work being done these two weeks… Just amazing!
We landed in Peru late September 2021 and had one of the best trips in our life! Peru was amazing. Logistic during the trip was outstanding. There was always a guide meeting us in hotel, explaining what we do next day. Someone was always there, we were constantly moving from one place to other, staying in single place no more than 2 nights. This trip was a masterpiece of logistic. Some adjustment during the trip were necessary due to Covid, they were handled excellent. ATP was coming with excellent flexibility and support.
Guides were all amazing! We met so many excellent people there! If you are about to visit Cusco area, ask about Manolo, he is one of the best people we have ever met, he stole our hearts in a moment. What a star he is!
When it comes to Covid, apart from ATP full flexibility, all guides were wearing a masks, all having antibacterial gel with them, using it very often. Hotels picked by Sean were representing very good level of cleanliness and showing great consideration.
All in all, there is absolutely nothing to complain about, just pack you things and go, they will take care of you like a mother cares about her children!

Hello Michal,
Thank you my dear friend for this incredible insights of your recent trip! I'll bet you guys are genuinely missing our country. Yep, that happens often :)
Peru is finally starting to resemble the pre-pandemic days of 2019.
I hope things are normalizing your neck of the woods, too.
Good times are on the horizon!
Very Kind Regards,
Sean

Our party of six would not have amazing experiences in Peru without the ATP! Sean and his professional tour guides consistently made us feel very safe and comfortable throughout the trip of a lifetime.
It is hard to trust someone first time searching online and make a trip deposit fora party of 6, Sean’s professionalism and detail oriented planning take away most our fears, During traveling, we appreciated your one-day advance text messages and domestic flight check-in before each transit. In your good hands of planning, our minds only focus in enjoying and experiencing the Amazon, Inca sites, food and accommodations. Thank you for picking perfect accommodations with crisp linens & clean towels and even going above and beyond to contact and extend our hotel additional 6hrs in Lima due to our late departure for LAX.
Tour guides, Monica, Blanca, Tom (Tree Lodge) & boat driver, Elvis, Edir and other drivers have given us private tours, kept us safe and kindly shared the Peruvian cultures and food with much enthusiasm throughout. We can’t thank them enough and highly recommend the ATP to families and friends after our experiences!

This is a superb way to go if you want to optimize your time in Peru and have a wonderful, customized experience. My family of three saw the Amazon basin, Sacred Valley, Cusco, Lake Titicaca, Machu Picchu (damn, did I get the c's right?) being expertly ushered through planes, boats, trains, vans and hikes. Guides were uniformly excellent, charming and showed a real passion for the history, culture and wildlife. The trip was structured to allow for acclimating to the high altitudes, which is really important - ATP his happy to suggest and/or tweak the itinerary according to your time and preferences.
Because the guides are local, you really get exposure to some remote and authentic experiences that you would not get otherwise. Particularly recommended if you can swing it: the 7-mile Inca trail (lite) into Machu Picchu, Aranwa resort/Sacred Valley (oh man...that massage!) and Amantani island/Lake Titicaca. Reserve some time for just kicking around Cusco in the San Blas neighborhood. Talk your guide into getting chicha (corn beer) at a locals bar and have a game of 'sapo'.
Peru is a wonderful country and this was a superb way to see it. In general I'd say the pandemic precautions are superior to the US. Now is a great time to go, with tourism down due to COVID worries. We'll cherish the memories.

Sean prepared the best trip for our family! We were able to avoid the big bus tour and have a private driver and guide for about half the cost of the big tour companies. Unbelievable!! He personalized the experience for our family and we couldn't be more pleased. We highly recommend you give him the chance to work with you! First class service!

Traveling during the time of COVID presents some unique challenges, for both traveler and tour guide alike. Luckily for us, Sean and his Adventures To Peru team handled and arranged our whole trip flawlessly despite some unexpected obstacles. My wife and I had an eleven-day Peru excursion organized by Sean to the Altiplano, Andes and Nazca Lines, and despite various closures and curfews, we visited all the sites we had planned to, including Machu Picchu, Lake Titicaca, the Sacred Valley of the Inca, Ica and the Nazca Lines. We feel that Sean and his team of guides went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure our trip was great. Two guides I would like to commend in particular are Edgar (Sillustani, Puno, Lake Titicaca) and Rene (Sacred Valley, Cusco, Machu Picchu), these guys are not only experts in their specific fields, but well versed in history, botany, astronomy, agriculture, architecture, religion and science. Sean arranged all our transportation throughout Peru, but I would like to commend one driver in particular; Raul, who drove us from Puno to Cusco to Ollantaytambo.
Bravo to Sean and his Adventures To Peru crew, thank you for making our Peru trip so wonderful

Hello Chris and Bruce,
I'd like to thank you immensely for being our first post-pandemic visitors to Peru! An enormous 'muchas gracias' is in order. I am overjoyed that our guides, drivers and staff exceeded your expectations. That speaks volumes!
Tourism in Peru is coming back albeit slowly. Much of the recovery will depend on travelers such as yourselves with a willingness support to the industry and country in general. Viva Peru!
Thanks and hopefully we can cross paths one day in the US.
Very Best,
Sean

Sean from ATP was great to deal with. He was very helpful in making a personalized itinerary and was always quick to reply to our mails and gave great advice. The trip we made was superb and we would definitely recommend ATP to everyone wanting to travel to Peru. Prior to and also during our hoiday Sean gave us updates and checekd if everyting went well. Everything of our trip was well arranged so we never needed to worry about anything, it made life a lot easier. At every location there would always be someone waiting for us at the airport or bus terminal to bring us to the right place with always great guides for our activities. A special mention goes out to our Cusco guide René with who we spend almost a week. He is very knowledgeable a out the history of Peru and Inca's but never made it boring. He was with us for almost all our activities in Cusco area and Machu Picchu and made every trip from A to B and adventure and interesting time, something we think is a big advantage compared to planning activities on your own and using a taxi from A to B.
Everyone who wants to travel to Peru in an organized way should book with ATP to have the best trip possible and be free of worries.

Great trip and great service from Adventures to Peru! We had never used a full service tour planner before, but I am so glad we did on this trip. Sean was very easy to communicate with, gave us many choices and options to fit our budget, and provided great suggestions and recommendations. I would not have been able to plan this trip without his help. ATP took care of all the local transportation, tickets, tours, and hotels. Before our trip, Sean sent us a detailed itinerary covering each day so we were ready to go and had everything planned out for us, while still leaving plenty of free time to explore on our own. Our driver and our guide were always on time and were very professional and knowledgeable. I highly recommend ATP and look forward to booking with Sean again.

We couldn't have asked for a bette more thoughtfully planned trip by Sean for our first experience in South America! We were well taken care off throughout our trip and our guide Rene must have had his PHD in the history of ancient civilizations and culture. In fact his heritage is Incan and he made history come alive for us. He took us to spots w have only seen on TV. We were in Cusco for the festival of Sol on the winter solstice where saints come a-marching-in from every county dressed in glittery fashion and people parading to band music. We ate like natives at the big market enjoying chicken and corn fritters with a little guinea pig thrown in.

Peru was a once in a lifetime trip and it would not have been possible without Sean and the team at ATP. When planning the trip Sean worked with us to tailor the vacation to exactly what we wanted, and had great ideas and suggestions to make the trip more enjoyable. It was so much easier to have ATP handle all the logistics since getting around Peru is not easy! The itinerary and guidance for the trip was excellent and we felt very prepared before we left. It was also extremely affordable considering everything we squeezed into 10 days!
Once in Peru we were even more grateful we booked with ATP. With the language barrier, having a tour guide and drivers kept us more at ease. We do not know what we would have done if we were on our own! The drivers and guides were great, always on time, and very knowledgable. Our guide Jorge was with us every step of the way in the Cusco region. Mother nature threw us a curve ball during our trip, but Jorge was with us the whole time making sure we were safe and that we were able to keep enjoying our trip. Also, Sean was always available by phone whenever we had questions or issues. He always made the time to answer which helped so much.
The hotels that were booked by ATP were also all great - clean and comfortable. Some were in very beautiful locations.
If you are looking to go to Peru - you should definitely pick a tour company to plan and assist with your trip - and that company should be ATP!

Dear Nicole,
This review goes above and beyond, thank you so much! That 'curve ball' was something else, right? Thankfully, Jorge is always on his game and is know for his superb decision making. Glad you didn't mind the extra adventure, either!!
I also want to thank you and Brent for actually deciding to travel to Peru during these uncertain times. Coming to Peru helps our recovery tremendously. You could have just as easily decided to stay home, so again thank you.
Take good care and we'll be in touch.
Sincerely,
Sean

We have made hotel reservations in Aguas Calientes for 3 nights which follows 4 nights in Ollantaytambo this coming October. We plan on landing in Lima 2 days prior to this. We are hoping to make it all the way back to Lima (where we will spend 10 more days) from Aguas on the last day of those 9 days.
We are obviously hoping to see the Sacred Valley on the first 4 days, and Machu Picchu on the last 3 days. Can you help us with tours and transportation? We’d like to take the train from Cusco to Ollantaytambo (not hike), but otherwise hike through the ruins and villages during the day.
We haven’t made any airline arrangements as yet. We prefer an American air carrier, but Aero Mexico and Avianca are more convenient and much cheaper. We worry about trip cancellations and other problems with the Mexican airlines. Any advice on this?
Does it make sense for you to get involved with our trip?
Thanks
Vic Silvestre

We decided to skip Iquitos since it was to far and we didn't want to spend too much time on the road. we had 13 days of travel and we dedicated 4 days to the Amazon jungle, 5 days to Cusco and the sacered valley and 2 days to Ariquipa, 2 days to lake Titikaka.
There is so much to do and see, but you can't have it all in 10 days, so you need to decide where you want to concentrate.....
I would skip Lima if I had to choose 1 thing to give up.....
