Don Lucio is one of the greatest men I’ve met. He has a wealth of knowledge and is revered by all that know him and work for him. The ceremonies are incredible... other worldly. The icaros (chanting) and attention given to each participant is enough to bring you to tears.
There are two other shamans, Anderson and Luis Jr who are also exceptional and staged a ceremony when do Lucio couldn’t attend for health reasons.
It isn’t as strict a diet as many of the other retreats and the food is incredibly healthy, nutritious and tasty.
Contrary to many of the other retreats, don Lucio and his team brew the ayahuasca in the true form and do not cater for the ‘tourist’ crowd. According to some sources, other retreats add things like angels trumpet which can be lethal in order for the participant to have an even more crazy trip which is unnecessary and can be dangerous.
The love and care that you experience here is second to none and I have no hesitation in highly recommending this retreat. It helped me a lot.

Thank you for trusting us with your Ayahuasca experience. You are correct, we are NOT touristy and we seek to help those in need with the powerful and teachable medicine of the Amazon Jungle. Selva Madre is happy for you to be a part of our family as you are not a client to us but part of us forever. Many blessings from your entire family at Selva Madre.

Something special!
My partner and I did 8 days 4 ceremonies here. Just being out isolated in the jungle is an experience in itself. Lucho, junior, Anderson and his team are very special magical people 💚They made us feel like family and were very gentle on us for our first time. We are still in the integration process so the work is continuing. We felt very supported. The food was yummy and the excursions were great plus the accommodation is perfect. Ayahuasca is different for everyone, myself had a blockage which I need to work on. Overall it has definitely made positive changes to ourselves and are so grateful to have experienced the work of these wonderful Shamans, we will most likely return one day.

Dear Emma & Luke,
Thank you so much for sharing your heartfelt review of your experience at our retreat. We're absolutely delighted to hear that you and your partner had such a special and transformative time during your 8 days and 4 ceremonies with us.
It warms our hearts to know that you found the isolated jungle setting to be an experience in itself. Lucho, Junior, Anderson, and the entire team truly cherish the connections they build with our guests, and your kind words about them being "special magical people" mean the world to us.
We're thrilled that you felt like part of our family and appreciated the gentle support, especially as it was your first time. It's wonderful to hear that you're still in the integration process and feeling supported throughout your journey.
We're glad you enjoyed the delicious food and exciting excursions – our aim is to provide a holistic and enriching experience. Ayahuasca journeys are indeed unique to each individual, and we're pleased to have played a role in helping you make positive changes in your life.
Knowing that you're considering returning one day fills us with joy. We'll be eagerly awaiting that opportunity and can't wait to welcome you back with open arms.
Wishing you all the best on your continued journey of self-discovery and growth. If you ever want to reach out or share more about your experience, we're here to listen.
With heartfelt gratitude and warmest wishes,
The Selva Madre Team

Wonderful experience, great shamans (which was the main concern for me going in) but I was able to trust them really quickly because they were sincere with their goals. Also I want to thank Weyder, he was great in being around and helping with everything needed. The group I met there was great and made the experience more enjoyable. The experience took some getting used to because of the weather & no wifi & other amenities but after a few days I adapted and felt present with the environment. The Ayahuasca was both uncomfortable and very comforting at times & I learned to accept both. I still feel the medicines healing effects even weeks after and have more clearity in my thought processes so I will definitely be back for more.

I highly recommend going to the Selva Madre. I went there when El Niño had a strong impact on the jungle life. Supporting local communities during this time is vital. Do not overthink, go there.
Shamans are very smart, caring and give you a lot of freedom to be yourself and essentially have a unique experience.
I particularly enjoyed the fact that they are flexible with dates, they accommodated me when I needed instead of offering pre-arranged dates from the retreat.
I also was pleasantly surprised to learn they are the most affordable ayahuasca retreat in Iquitos area.
Thank you for everything!
If you want to feel connected with yourself, others, nature and be a part of a jungle family, this is the place for you.

What an amazing retreat! I don't think I could of picked a better place. The Shaman Don Lucho is extremely knowledgeable and has helped me tremendously. I had so many health issues and the ayahuasca diet was so delicious and healthy. I actually ate more there than when I'm home and lost weight! (not on purpose). The entire family has their part in the retreat and really makes you love them. They are so hard not to love. It is the right place. I found out that the money from the retreats actually goes to the villages and people in need from the surrounding communities. Don Lucho the main Shaman really cares for people and and soley interested in helping others. In the 10 day retreat you get 4 Ayahauasca ceremonies which were so helpful for my healing and understanding of myself. Best experience Ever!!!!!

I went back after a year to do a second retreat bc I felt I had to finish my personal work I had started there.
I already left a great review the first time I came. Nothing has changed. This place is still as beautiful as before. I love the work the shamans Don Lucho, Luis jr. , and Anderson do. They really are great shamans and have helped me a lot.
The entire facility is still beautiful and great and just about what you need for a good detox in the amazon. The food as always was a lot, various and great!
Everybody is so nice and friendly and has a great positive attitude and mind. It’s really a place to heal and I’m so happy I choose this retreat and this shamans in the first place and now again. I will be back one day. Thank you so much to everybody who workes at and for Selva madre. You made my stay great! 🙏🏼 much love Jasmin 💓

I realy enjoyed my first ayauahasca experience at Selva madre retreat centre. Even if the ayauahasca wasnt so strong that I expected, I was taken deep in my mind to explore my thoughts and memories. I realy appreciate amazingly positive Don Lucho and his beautiful icarus. Also other shamans Luis jr. and Anderson did an amazing job.
During our free time we were treated like a gods by always helping Weyder, our chef Bermudes and his daughters.
I can realy recomend this retreat! Amazing vibes, comfortable accomodation, good food and safe aya experience!

I had an amazing Time at Selva Madre, i definitely recommend it. A few years back, when i was battling my depression, i was in a Dark spot in my life and didn't know how to get ahead and continue my life without constantly thinking about all the bad things about my self. I knew about Ayahuasca from documentaries on the web and decided to make a Journey to the Jungle myself.
Once i arrived there i was greated by all the Facilitators one by one, and they are such nice People and very patient with newcomers from the West.
Their long Experience with Medicinal Plants is reflected durring the Ceremonies, they know how to adjust themselfs for each individual needs, and sing beautiful Icaros that can clear the Mind of negative thoughts. At first i was a bit skeptical, but that was just my own fears and thoughts that blocked me from letting go.
Once i learn to trust the Process and trully let go and allow the Medicine to work its wonders on me, my whole Perception just transform, and from that Moment i knew i was in very good Hands that they really want help me overcome my Difficulties and Improve my Quality of life. It was definitely a boost in my own Personal Evolution and i am looking forward to come back at the Retreat.
My advice to anyone embarking on a Journey like this, is trust the Process, learn to let go and if you are affraid it is perfectly normal, not to worry, things will work out, but most important, make the Diet prior to visit the Retreat.
Blessings to all

The three shamans of Selva Madre - Anderson, Louis and the Maestro himself Don Luchi all say my issues when I came to the centre. They were not late to adress my problems and after the fourth ceremony I felt thoroughly relieved so I could go home to Sweden with feelings of genuine joy, mental clarity and an open heart. In 7 days my life has totally changed so I now can live my life as intended. Selva madre is a long way from Sweden but I do not care - I am returning as soon as possible. Thank you so much.

I found this Maestro and his family in April 2021. It was great and I will go back! The best shamen in Iquitos. The food and the family are great. Right in the middle of the Peruvian jungle and there are four ceremonies. Healing ceremonies.

Good morning
I am Nam Won and Korean.
I am the first foreign traveler.
Should I arrive at Iquitos airport and go to where you are?
Where do I stay?
What do I have to prepare?
Written March 16, 2018
Dear Nam Won. I m in EuropeI dont work for Selva Madre but I ve been there in October so I can reply :) If you book the retreat they ll explain everything. You cannot access alone Selva Madre. What happens is you get to Iquitos one or more days before and you meet everyone in front of the "Dawn at the amazon cafe" bar and they ll take you to the retreat with everyone. All arranged by them and you wont pay extra on it.When you arribe to Iquitos airport get a taxi to your Hotel where you ll stay the night before the retreat starts. What do you mean what do you prepare? Please make sure that you follow strictly the ayahuasca diet2-3weeks before the retreat : no sex, no alcohol, no salt, no red meat, no oils no spices no medications etc. That s superimportant!!!Other than thats bring your camera and cloths and shower gel erc. You wont need anythinf particular there. You ll be fed there😊. If more questions please feel free to ask. Szilvia

Hi, I would like to know if you do Huachuma (San Pedro) as well or is it better to do Ayahuasca first and then explore Huachuma?
THanks in advance :)
