Amazing. It’s only fair to start this review with this proper description.
In a nutshell everything was great!

They picked us up from the airport to their office, where due to our early flight we had to wait a little bit.
But they started the experience since then.
I met one of the owner and he was very friendly. We chated, he served us with some fresh fruits, water and also shared us his personal hotspot internet to find something. Not to mentioned that when coming back, he helped us with the transfer back to the hotel.

Next... the tour... amazing! As mentioned in the itinerary, we did everything from navigating to spot pink dolphins, visit a monkey rescue center, piranha phishing, day&night jungle exploring to spot some fauna and flora (birds, monkeys, spiders), visited a local tribe, etc

Last but maybe the most important aspect: our guide!
Anthony, my friend, you rock!
Very knowledgeble from fauna, flora, history and a friendly chatter. His english was very good and he always made the extra mile for us to have the best experience together with his friend Paolo.

I do travel quite a lot so my expectations were quite high in terms of experience, but these guys were exactly what you need from such a vacation!

This was the experience of a lifetime. I went with 2 friends on the 3 day 2 night Pacaya Samira Preserve excursion and I can't recommend it enough. All three of us wish we could've stayed longer. We were grouped with 5 other travelers (total group was only 8) and really enjoyed getting to know them as well. Our guide William was incredible and made sure we knew what to expect at every turn. Our local guide Robert was also amazing and they were each so good at spotting the wildlife and helping us see it as well. Just being out on the river so frequently was incredible (especially at night with the stars!!) and our jungle walks were very cool and educational. The food was delicious and they were very conscientious about any dietary needs. The lodge was very nice, and I was very impressed by our campsite and camping gear as well. It was not difficult to keep the bugs out of our nets or tents, and when we were out and about, our guides were great at making sure we knew what insects/wildlife needed a wide berth to keep us safe. I would love to go back, and will recommend this to all my friends.

This was such a fantastic experience. If you’re looking to go into the Amazon’s (and not just around Iquitos / nanay), this is your chance, and do it with this company! Everything from the booking being extremely professional to the tour guide we were paired with just blew me away. Pickup was seamless (they came to our hotel, brought us to the office to get rain boots, meet our tour guide, and explain our adventure). The trip itself was more than we could expect (we did 2 days and one night and I would have stayed longer). The food was incredible (you have your own private cooks, all organic, nothing in a can/frozen, and proper meals cooked over a fire). Our tour guide, Augusto was genuine and attentive to us at all times - he simply wanted to make sure we had a good time. He was knowledgeable, humorous, genuine, and speaks really good English. It’s beautifully rustic (not too grimey) and all the services we received was is a reaaaaaally nice treat we don’t often get. Enjoy it!

My wife, parents, and I did an overnight stay at the Amazon Experience Lodge. The experience was great overall, and it started with the booking experience with Wolfers. He was very helpful throughout, and even gave us a discount for one person being vegetarian.

First, they were able to accomodate our flight getting in later than their normal tour start time. We were picked up from the airport directly and taken to their offices, to get an orientation and head to the boat. Driving up the Amazon River was beautiful, and our guide, Jhon, explained a lot along the way.

Jhon was our guide for most of the two days, and he was extremely knowledgeable about the area, plans, and wildlife. Our two days consisted of a visit to Monkey Island, Pink Dolphin watching, piranha fishing, visiting a local tribe, and a night hike.

The lodge itself was pretty basic as expected. Be prepared for bugs, mosquitos, and a lot of heat (it is the rainforest!). There is electricity only during certain times, and no fans. Meals were very tasty, and vegetarians were accommodated without problem.

Thanks again to Jhon, Carlos, and the rest of the team!

We booked a 9 day trip to El dorado lake. The experience was fantastic. They brought in a boat operator, a cook (both local from the villages that run down the amazon) and a very experienced and motivated guide. They brought everything to make you feel comfortable with very varied food, taking care of the specifics of your diet beforehand and a plethora of local vegetables and food.
The guide, Lisser Emanuell Tananta was very knowledgeable of the local area, and of all of the fauna. He promotes respect for the local fauna too, trying to not disrupt the ecosystem at all.
He took us on day and night hikes adapting the schedule to better fit our type of trip (we wanted to maximize chances of wildlife photography). His guiding was based on the smell, sounds and footprints that he found on different spots along each of our campsites and paths within the amazon.
Some parts of the river were more complicated to traverse by boat during the summer, so they explained the risks beforehand, and they did their best efforts, and tried to amend the changes in itinerary with other hikes and other campsites. They really care about the tourist experience from the first moment that we met in the hotel for pickup.
We totally recommend this tour agency, and specially recommend this guide.

Thanks so much for writing in such detail about your experience going into El Dorado lake, in the deepness of Pacaya Samiria. We couldn't be happier with what you write as it portrays what's important for us: To deliver an authentic and safe experience while also considering the surrounding environment by being respectful to nature. We are glad you enjoyed how the trip was organized, the food, and of course looking for wildlife in Pacaya Samiria. Thanks again for your kind words, for choosing Amazon Experience, and for recommending us. Feel welcome back any time! All the best.

We had a fantastic adventure with Amazon Experience. My family of 5 (two adults and 3 teenagers) as well as my 73 year-old father spent 3 nights & 4 Days in the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. Fantastic way to see and adventure in a very remote area of the Amazon Jungle. Frank was so knowledgeable and personable and very dedicated to making our experience the best possible. Our two favorites were the many pink river dolphins we saw and tracking the howler monkeys to get close enough to see what makes that impressive sound. It is a lot of time in a boat, but isn't that the best way to see the Amazon jungle? Food was authentic. We ate what locals eat. Nothing fancy, but tasty. The village accommodations were simple but very adequate. Camping on the banks of the river was great... sleeping pads aren't what you would get in the Marriott, but it was camping after all!

Overall, we all would highly recommend Amazon Experience and especially our trusty guide, Frank.

We are thrilled that you got to experience the Amazon jungle with your family, enjoying the different animal species like dolphins and monkeys (howler monkeys do have an impressive sound!). It makes us very happy to know that you enjoyed this experience camping deep in the jungle with us. Thanks again for choosing us and for your recommendation. All the best, Wolfers.

3 day/2night Our guide David was very knowledgeable, passionate and a very good host, making us feel both welcome and safe. Walking deep into the jungle on 2 day, when met with fallen trees from the storm the night before, he had no problems in navigating us back to the route. He was great at spotting wildlife and filled with knowledge that he was more than happy to share, with great English too.

However, the tour is quite repetitive - lots of ‘walks’ to see the same thing. 2 day/1night is ample if your looking for a short experience. The accommodation is poor and whilst we were prepared for no air con/limited electricity, there were no mosquitoes nets on the beds which resulted in a lot of bites at night. There is a fan installed but the switch has been removed on purpose so it cannot be used. The food is low quality at best, and limited in quantity. After a long day in the heat, on a expensive experience you are expecting plentiful food to be on offer, which is not the case.

The drinking water ‘fountain’ hasn’t been cleaned for many years and was full of ants, meaning water was full with ants. This happens of course in the jungle however, as the owner of the accommodation provided very little else, clean water should really be a priority. The owner of the lodge made us feel like we were a bit of an inconvenience being there. To call it basic, is being generous. It’s not been looked after for years.

The tour takes place very close to Iquitos so don’t expect to see a lot of wildlife that is exotic. The monkey Island is great but ultimately manufactured and this is where most of the wildlife is seen. The tribe on day 3 feels incredibly fake and uncomfortable and would have rather have just spoken to the local people who actually lived on the river on day 2.

Overall a pretty underwhelming experience. The price paid in £$ converted to ALOT of soles and fail to see where the money has been spent.

Dear Kara, thanks for writing us this review. We are happy to know you enjoyed sharing with the Amazon crew members while spotting wildlife and exploring. Regarding the jungle walks, in each walk there is the chance to see different species (animals, birds, insects, etc) but that is entirely up to the jungle (and mother nature). More days means higher chance to see more diversity of species. We’ve taken notes of all the points you mention regarding the lodge and those will be investigated so it can be improved. Thanks for bringing these to our attention. We try to always cater to our passengers different food-related needs by offering a self-serving modality, so everyone can pick up based on their likings. Please accept our apologies if what was offered wasn’t of your liking or in enough quantity, as our aim is for everyone to be satisfied. The lodge is about 1 hour and 20 minutes by motor boat from Iquitos. For higher chances of more exotic wildlife sight seeings adventuring into Pacaya Samiria (camping tours) is adviced instead. We apologize if this wasn’t clear when setting up the expectations for this tour. It makes us a bit sad to know you partially enjoyed this experience with us, so for any shortcomings or unmet expectations you might have felt during the tour, please accept our apologies. We’ll keep striving for constant improvement! Thanks again for choosing us and taking the time to write about your experience in detail. All the best.

An amazing experience, truly! My wife and I spent one night at the Amazon lodge around 30 km down river from Iquitos. Our tour guide, Antonio D'La Silva or Anthony of the Jungle was a terrific English speaking guide. He was at our hotel on time the day the tour started and was professional and courteous. We called him the dolphin whisperer because he seemingly conjured up Amazon River Dolphins on two separate occasions for our group, which was the highlight of this tour. Antonio has a vast and intimate knowledge of this area and the animals and plants that live within it. He is a very personable and funny guy. Also, the monkeys on monkey island were another highlight. The monkeys were so cute and playful. Watch your water bottles though, the capuchins are clever enough to open them. Lastly, watching sunrises and sunsets over this beautiful portion of the Amazon is something to behold. My wife and I strongly recommend using this company for your Amazon and Antonio D'La Silva as your English or Spanish speaking guide.

We did 4 days 3 nights Amazon lodge experience and I would highly recommend this company. Everyting was well organized and our guide Anthony was the best. He speaks very good English and has extensive knowledge about the jungle, animals and plants. He really loves his job. Accomodation in the jungle lodge was better than expected - private room, shower, room was cleaned every day. Only one thing - there is no hot water in the shower but that's ok since temperatures are very high. However, the owner of the lodge was very weird, the guy believes that Earth is flat and all other conspiracy theories... :) Food was delicious, one of the best we had during our full month Peru trip. Amazon jungle is a must see while travelling in Peru! Although, if you wish to see more jungle animals, you should choose a further place, since this lodge is only 40 km away from Iquitos, so very close to the city.

We had so much fun with our guides, Ricky & Augusto. We saw snakes, pink dolphins, birds, wild monkeys, tarantulas, tree frogs, and incredible insects. We got to spend time in different villages and the human interaction was a real highlight for me. The amount of organization required to make this tour happen is actually kind of astounding, so I was happy to pay the asking price. It’s not just boat rides and lodging. It’s boat rides and then hiking to a swamp to find another boat that the guide then pilots. Pink dolphins at sunrise before the other groups get there and the light catches them in a warmer glow. Adapting so we could camp for one and eat breakfast with a local family. Those little things matter. The Lodge was cozy enough and the food was always good. I thought four days in the Amazon would feel very long but it actually went by so fast. We also did walks & canoe rides at night, getting to see all the incredible nocturnal life.

Ricky & Augusto made us feel safe and taken care of. I fully recommend them and hope one day I can return for a tour of the reserve with them.
