Flashpacker Connect built us a customized itinerary for an unforgettable two weeks in Peru.
My friend and I had been wanting to see Machu Picchu for years, and in early 2019 decided now was the time. We also wanted to see the Andes by trekking/backpacking. One thing led to another, and we decided on a Peru trip that would include not only Machu Picchu but also the Cordillera Huayhuash.
When we realized how much logistical planning was involved we began looking at tour companies and decided on Flashpacker Connect. We're glad we did. Flashpacker worked closely with us to answer our questions, give us good advice, and make all of our travel arrangements once we were in Peru. This included all the transportation and accommodations in country: Bus from Lima to Huaraz, a trip to Huascaran National Park, and a shuttle to the remote mountains for a guided trek through the Huayhuash Circuit.
After 10 days in Huayhuash, we took the bus back to Lima for a flight to Cusco, where a Flashpacker representative brought us to our hotel. Everything was so easy and laid out for us. Over the next several days we toured the Cusco area, including Rainbow Mountain, a shuttle through Sacred Valley, and of course, a train to Aguas Calientes and Machu Picchu.
The value that Flashpacker provided was on many levels:
1) Excellent staff and guides. LeAnn and Brandon did fantastic work in planning and booking our itinerary. In Huaraz, Marco, Edith, and Darwin all took great care of us in Huascaran and Huayhuash. In Cusco, David Villena was our guide for everything, and he really knew his stuff. Not just the details of the "curriculum," but also any questions we had on the fly, he knew the answer. He was a real joy to spend the trip with and a credit to the Flashpacker staff.
2) The itineraries were "dialed in." The schedules were on point, particularly with getting to all of the attractions in the Cusco area early on in the day, before they were mobbed by other tourists. The hotel accommodations were excellent, in Huaraz, Cusco, and Aguas Calientes.
3) The logistics. All the schedules, the transportation, the booking of tickets, it was so nice not to have to do all of this ourselves. Ours was a very ambitious itinerary, being on buses, cars, trains, planes, hotels. Flashpacker booked it all for us.
This review is less on the attractions, which were all amazing, than on Flashpacker's making it all happen for us. When you see your itinerary on paper it's one thing, but when you're actually there you really see how important it is to have everything scheduled ahead of time. I look forward to working with Flashpacker again on future trips.
Thanks, Flashpacker!
