Worst trip booked to date. I wouldn’t normally write a review but when you’ve booked something as precious (and Expensive) as a trip to Machu Picchu I think it matters. I don’t know where to start, super o organised and unprofessional. It seems once you’ve handed over your money, you’re someone’s else’s problem. -never met off the train as promised - our accommodation hasn’t even finished being built -specifically asked to take the 1st tour at 6am, now because we’re the only two in the group speaking English, we have to enter later. - told them I was vegetarian yet when I get here, only 2 near dishes are offered so I had to eat next door. We’ve decided to ditch the remainder of our booking with Marcelos and do our own thing. Costly but you can’t buy back time.

We waited for 40 mins after 7am agreed departure time. Initially the agency phone was switched off and then they put the phone down on us twice !! We were taken to a dirty barn with a filthy toilet. The quad bikes and helmets were dirty. We enjoyed the ride but be aware it’s very dusty. The salt mine and maras are interesting they would have been even better if we had the proper guide we were promised ! Our advice book with another operator!

We booked two tours through Marcelos Travel upon arriving in Cusco. The first was a full day tour of the Sacred Valley (Pisac, Indian Market at Urubamba, Ollantaytambo, Chinchero, Moray, and Salinas de Maras). For the sacred valley tour, our guide was Deigo and our driver was Jorge. Hands down Jorge was an incredible and very safe driver. He navigated the windy roads and on coming traffic with great skill. I never once felt like we were in any danger. Deigo was a good guide, very knowledgable and conducted our tour in both Spanish and English. He did a great job of communicating throughout the tour so that we knew where we were and what was coming up next. He also did a great job splitting the Spanish and English portions of the tour. We would arrive at a site he would say I am going to do the English version first everyone that doesn't want to listen to the English version is welcome to look around and meet back here in 10 minutes. Then he would swap and do the Spanish version and everyone that didn't want to listen to the Spanish version could look around and meet back in the designated spot at the appointed time. We paid 50 soles per person for the tour and transportation. That didn’t include lunch (15 to 30 soles per person), Boleto Turistico del Cusco Parcial (Partial Tourist Ticket (70 soles per person)) and entrance to Salinas de Maras (10 soles per person). We were very happy with the tour. We had a limited number of days in Cusco so this was a great way to get out and see the highlights of the Sacred Valley. If you have more time you may want to spend more time at each of the sites and this might not be the best option for you. All in all a good experience and one I would repeat. It was a full day, we got on the bus at 7 am and didn’t get back in town until about 7 pm. We also booked a guide for Machu Picchu through Marcelos Travel at the same time. With this purchase we got 2 entrance tickets to Machu Picchu (a 256 soles value), 2 round trip bus tickets from Aguas Calientes up to Machu Picchu (a 48 US dollar value) and an English speaking guide for about 2.5 hours. This one cost $160 (US Dollars). This is where they earned 4 stars instead of 5 stars. Our guide (I can’t remember his name but he was from Grupo Pedro) had a basic knowledge of Machu Picchu but in eavesdropping on other guides while we explored Machu Picchu I would say that he was not the most knowledgable and that you would be best to go with another tour company for Machu Picchu. Also, he really wasn’t a professional English speaking guide. He’s English was ok (far better than my Spanish) but he openly admitted that he had only been speaking/learning English for about a month and a half. All in all it was an ok guided tour but if I had it to do over again I would be tempted to purchase the tickets to Machu Picchu and the bus tickets myself which you can easily do in Aguas Calientes during November and then hire a guide at the gates of Machu Picchu. There were several guides that approached us at the gates many of which spoke better English than the guide we had hired. All in all not the worst experience but it could have been better.

10.10.2016, Me and my friend looked for an ATV activity around Cusco, we found and agency, Marcelos agency (Address: Portal Comercio 145 | Plaza de Armas, Cusco,Peru - recommended by signs on the door) that soled us a deal. We where told we need to surrender our passports to the guide incase “police stop us”. We insisted to keep the passport on us and in the agency we got miss information saying “it is not a problem”. Morning of the trip, getting in to car followed by a woman handing us a monstrous contract not mentioning surrender of an official document and not stating the conditions of surrender(though illegal). She never looked at our eyes, always down repeating herself and lied that she called our agent instead she called her boss that came on very aggressively. I am sorry I didn't’t take a picture of the contract! The contract states there is NO INSURANCE on ATV. Hens, if someone hits me the company can ask for money from me(victim) too!! Because in a different line it stated we soly responsible for the ATV and also I am bound because they hold my passport so go fight with them!! I offered to give a copy as you do when renting a car or as they take in the hostels. I offered a deposit too but they didn't listen. The boss kicked me and my friend out of the car saying “you Israelis are all the same” - I gently replied that “we are, because we are smart and know the law”. I was told by Diego the agent in "Marcelos Travel - Day Tours" that the name of the ATV agency is: “"ATVS Sacred Valley"”. cannot find the site butill add a link when i find it. Me and my friend, highly don’t recommend using this incompetent, misleading agencies and recommend you to ALWAYS ask to see the contract in advance, ask about passport surrender and DO NOT agree to it! Use a different company and save the legal complication in a corrupted country.
