Would definitely recommend the Inca trail by Lares, we chose Colibri and we couldn’t be happier with our decision, the entire trip was enjoyable, educational, safe, clean, and absolutely life changing. We had excellent communication with the company in the weeks leading up to the trek and they were more than helpful in answering all of the questions we had.

Once we arrived in Cusco, we met with our tour guide Kevin and assistant tour guide. They told us about our plans for the next couple of days and made sure we were comfortable and knew exactly what was going on. From the moment the hike began, both guides provided us with an incredible experience. Kevin has endless knowledge about the trail, Incas, and history that he shared throughout the trek, making it incredibly enjoyable! They made sure to go at our pace and take breaks as we needed them. When I experienced altitude sickness during the hike, both guides made sure I was okay and checked in with me constantly.
The food and accommodations throughout the trek were incredible. The horsemen were amazing and led the horses that were carrying all of our supplies ahead of us so that the campsites would be ready by the time we got there. The food was absolutely delicious. Both my friend and I are vegan and the chefs (Juan de Dios and Roberto) prepared the very best food for every meal. We had delicious soups, rice, vegetables, fruits, and an endless amount of coca tea.
The hike is a bit difficult, but at the end of the hike you get a wonderful view of Machu Picchu. Definitely worth the price and hike.
This tour is a great option for those who want to experience the Inca trail and Lares trek, the company combines the amazing experiences trough the Andes mountains and the short Inca trail.
All in all, this was an unforgettable 5 days! Choose Colibri, they are the best¡

Kevin is a pleasant and knowledgeable tour guide and I learnt so much about the history of the Incas from him. We did one of the Inca trails and Machu Pichu and he was patient and set a good pace for our hike (really appreciated because some parts were challening). This was truly an amazing experience and Kevin added to that which is what anyone would hope for from a tour guide. Also very big bonus- all of us want to capture these experiences and Kevin is a great photographer! My memories have been captured with some of the best photography tricks I've seen. Thank you so much Kevin.

What a memorable experience with Colibri Tours! From the initial planning of the trek to the hike itself, Colibri did not miss a beat. They took care of ALL of the logistics — picking us up from the hotel and organizing our transportation back to Cusco from Aguas Calientes (thank you to our wonderful driver, Freddy.)

The Inca trail is not for the faint of heart! We completed it in 2 nights and 2 1/2 days. The altitude was certainly a challenge. Lucy, our tour guide, was excellent as well as our 4 porters and chef. Lucy was a wealth of knowledge!! She had an explanation for all of our many questions. She even stopped along the trail to show us different plants and cactus leaves that are used for making the beautiful textiles in Peru. We really enjoyed learning about the traditions of the Andean people.

Overall, the trek was an excellent value. They provided everything we needed — nothing more, nothing less. Bravo Colibri.

Colibri organized transportation, guide, porters, equipment and tickets to Machu Pich and back - did a fantastic job, Family of five, with limited hiking experience, and none camping out. really no hitches, everything went smoothly, everyone involved was very helpful. Equipment was in very good condition, guide Lucy was great, porters were very friendly, and the cook was tremendous. Food was surprisingly good and plentiful given everything had to be carried.
The hike is a great experience, amazing views and sites, and really good for family with teenagers. Just keep in mind this is not quite as easy as first appears - hike is at altitude, includes a lot of long treks up and then down, and is over a fairly uneven ancient pavement. Tough on knees as much as lungs. Don't need to be in unusual shape, but the less fit you are the tougher the trip is going to be.
