Excellent experience!! Our guide Odon was prompt with pickup time and extremely friendly. The drove to rainbow mountain was smooth. We did the horseback ride up the mountain, and Odon was right there with us. The actual hike up, he provided support, laughter, and information about the region. Amazing experience with an awesome guide. Thank you so much for the wonderful experience.

Kondor path tours arranged a couple of private tours on our last vacation in Peru. Our first tour was the Rainbow Mountains and the next day we did the sacred Valley Tour.
The administrative services were excellent, we met at our hotel the day before our tours and our head guide, Fredy, explained everything perfectly, including what to wear and bring for each tour.
On the tour days, our guides (Fredy and Juan Carlos) and driver (Juan Carlos) were great! very knowledgeable, considerate about our party, always helpful and ready to answer questions and meet the expectations (completely different expectations because we had different ages in our party (from 11 to 69 years)) of each party member.
The rainbow mountain is awesome and is is really helpful to go with a guide that knows about the area, but also about hiking!!!

We took a three-day private group trek to Choquequirao as a family of five. Kondor Path Tours organized a pick-up and drop-off in Urubamba instead of Cusco and did an extra stop at the Saywhite archeological site. Everything went very smoothly during the entire trip, meals and accommodation were as expected or better. The trek itself is quite demanding (particularly in three days), but the nature/ views/ Choquequirao/ dearth of tourists largely compensate. Anyway, we were looking for a physical challenge!
Our guide Oron was great. Explaining, motivating, solving potential problems/ demands. We would definitely recommend Kondor Path Tours.

The Vinicunca one-day horse tour was fantastic. The friendly and informative Freddy guided us for the entire bus ride and mountain trek. He knew where to stand to get the best photos and made everything fun and accommodating. The horse ride up made it much easier to enjoy the final hike. Lunch was large and tasty. Door to door service.

Kondor Path Tours are so proffecional and easy to work with. We went with them on the 2 days short Inca trail to Machu Picchu with our three children. The correspondence was great and everything was perfectly planned in every detail. Our guide Alfredo was so friendly, knowledgeable and pleasant to be around! Thank you Kondor Path Tours - we couldn’t have asked for more!!

We had a last minute change of plans when it came to our tour. We were supposed to visit the rainbow mountain but with the recent protesting we called to see if we could change last minute and they were very accommodating. Odon and Fernando were amazing! They took us to see multiple attractions and made us feel very at home. And kudos to Renee for the amazing driving. I would highly recommend using this company for a tour. We will definitely use them if we ever come back!

My girlfriend and I spent a week in Peru and heard a lot about Rainbow Mountain. We heard everything; good bad and the ugly.

I will say right off the bat that the elevation definitely plays a role. We are both in our late 20's and in good shape, but definitely be prepared for less oxygen than normal. We opted for a tour with horseback and I think that is the way to go. Many people like to hike the entire length of the trail, but during our journey we saw many many people struggling.

I've seen a lot of reviews bashing rainbow mountain, and I wanted to set the record straight. Will you be blown away by vibrant colored mountains? No. Are they still incredible and worth making the trek to see? Absolutely. If you see photos that are photoshopped, this shouldn't deter you. No they aren't as vibrant as portrayed on social media, but they are still gorgeous.

As for the altitude. I saw some reviews that read more like a war story than a review of a tour. The altitude is no joke. We had Coca Leaves on hand and used them throughout the trip, which seemed to help. That being said, the altitude is real. You have to be prepared for that. Bring whatever you need in terms of water and snacks, and then pack more. Take your time up the hill, it isn't a race. I'd say however that horseback is the way to go. There's no shame in that, and it'll save you a headache (literally).

The weather can play a big role as well. THERE IS SNOW. We went during their summer, but at 17,000 feet above sea level, there is snow. It is pretty chilly and windy up there so pack a sweatshirt. The weather is very finicky up there, so be prepared for sun one second, and rain the next.

Our guide Fernando from Kondor was the best too. Highly recommend. He was amazingly helpful and funny. He knew everything about the culture and heritage of the area, and anything else you could imagine.

To sum up, I would definitely recommend the Rainbow Mountain, especially with a tour guide. Don't let the negative feedback deter you, you just have to be prepared. If you don't know what you're getting into, like anything else, you won't enjoy yourself. But if you prepare and understand the elements, it is 100% worth the hike. ENJOY!!

Kondor Path is by far the best private tour company i've worked with, and i've traveled to over forty countries. Patricia organized our trip and she was so responsive, answered all of my multitude of questions, and carefully organized 7 days in Puno, Cusco, and Sacred Valley. She gave us recommendations as well as let us know expectations in terms of booking the more private hikes in Machu Picchu. Even during our trip we were exchanging e-mails with her, and she followed up with us throughout our time in Peru to make sure we were ok. A+ to Patricia, she was such a pleasure to work with.

Fernando was our transfer guide throughout our time in Peru, and he was incredibly friendly, accommodating, and just full of knowledge. He went out of his way to book a few restaurants for us to have dinner at in Cusco, and physically walked to the restaurant to secure a booking to ensure we enjoyed the best restaurants. During our trip, we had a little mishap with an outside bus company who transferred us from PUNO to Cusco, and upon our arrival to Cusco, Fernando was on top of making sure our mishap was taken care of and even got us a partial refund. Such a pleasure meeting and getting to work with Fernando during our trip.

Jose Tito was our guide throughout Machu Picchu and the Sacred Valley and he was a pleasure to be around. Throughout our hikes he made sure we were ok, stopping for breaks as needed, and he even assisted in taking many incredible photos. On our last day in Machu Picchu, Jose insisted that we wake up early to watch the sunrise over Machu Picchu, and he stood in line for us at 3am and secured an early bus for us to the site. What a gentleman!

Honestly, we had such an amazing time in Peru and I cannot recommend more to use Kondor Path if you're looking to book a private tour. They can arrange the trip to fit your budget, and were able to adjust our accommodation and activities to fit our needs. We were so well taken care of during our week in Peru. On our last night, we took the Hiram Bingham train back to Cusco and accidentally left our phone charger on the train. Fernando and Patricia went out of their way to get a hold of the train company, locate the charger, and drop the charger off to our hotel first thing in the morning. I honestly have never worked with a tour company like this one who cares so deeply about their customers. If you're looking to travel to Peru, I highly HIGHLY recommend going with Kondor Path tours, you won't regret it!

The overall experience was amazing. Starting with Patricia’s extremely helpful emails and support in finding the right trekking experience for us. Everything was organized and set up for us all the way til the last meeting with our guide Jose and Sherpa team organizer Leonardo. The transport, walk on the Inca trail and visit of the sites were breathtaking. Our cooks did an amazing job at feeding us local food while always chatting and being friendly with us. I would strongly recommend that company and trip to anyone. Many thanks to the entire team: Patricia, Jose, Leonardo, and all the guys who carried our belongings. I would love to do it again with my kids one day!
