I had a few hours to kill before my flight out of Cuzco and decided to look for cooking classes on a whim since I knew they would fit my timeline. I found Peruvian Cooking Classes and went with a friend. We had a lot of fun and the class was excellent. The price was also amazing. The guides were interesting and fun and walking around the market while the guide explained the ingredients to us was a very unique experience. The food we made also tasted great and I will be making it again at home. Great value and a great experience!

We took part in the 'Full Classic Peruvian Cooking Class' and were lucky enough to be the only people taking part on the day that we booked, but rather than rescheduling us they went ahead and gave us a private session!
We selected Menu #1: Quinoa Soup, Aji de Gallina, and Chocotejas and learned to cook a truly delicious meal that I'm going to try and reproduce at home in the UK.
Mayia and Reyna were excellent teachers, taking us through each step and being patient (with me, as I'm a rubbish cook. My girlfriend got most things first time!). It also really helped that they spoke excellent English. We went out to the central market to buy fresh ingredients - a great insight into Peruvian culture, and on the way there stopped off in their sister school to try some free chocolate samples.
Overall it lasted a few hours including the eating and drinking, and was an excellent way to spend the afternoon. We've done a lot of trekking and looking at historical sights, so it was a nice change of pace, and I feel like I learned something.
The company sends you the recipes afterwards, and tells you to get in touch if you need any further guidance in recreating the recipes back at home.

We took a chocolate making class with Pedro, and had a great time. We lucked into being the only people in the class, and Pedro was very knowledgeable and more than willing to answer all of our questions as he took us through the steps involved in making chocolate. The final product was delicious, as was the hot chocolate that we made at an intermediate step. I liked that we made a pisco sour in the first 20 min of class, and that we had the option to make a passion fruit or classic lime version.
Only minor complaint was that the class seemed a little expensive, but we all really enjoyed ourselves.

Having done a few cooking classes in south America we were really disappointed in this one. The recipe options were very limited and the dishes really were all 'just throw it on' style recipes. We didn't really learn anything about Peruvian cooking and the only real plus was a tour of San Pedro market. The chefs were nice but the whole experience wasn't very impressive. It was also very overpriced.

I did the chocolate/ pisco class with Fredy and also the ceviche class with Yuli and their teams. They both turned out to be private classes for me. They were both super patient with all my questions even they may be a bit off topic, and kept the class going so we managed to get everything prepped in the allotted time. The actual doing was fun. It's rare to get to temper chocolate in a chocolate - making class but we did all that and learned the different process of chocolate making. The recipes were easy to follow and of course, the prepared foods, the pisco sours, the hot chocolates and the chocolate treats were delicious!
The tour to the market was not just to buy ingredients; Yuli introduced me to the huge varieties of local Peruvian produce. She is super friendly and bubbly. The class also started with tasting the variety of local fruits and I now have a greater appreciation of what I could buy and eat from the market. Thanks for a super cool experience.
The booking process was easy. Just go to their website and fill in the blanks. I got a response within 24 hours. Bring cash.
Highly recommend!

Luis and Lish were amazing. We started with some fruit tasting and also some Chocolate at the shop two doors up, then Luis walks you to the San Pedro markets where you buy what you need as he points out many of the local foods. On the way back he brought us a Churro made from Pumpkin and Sweet Potato and filled with Dulce de Leche. The best Churro I have ever had. Next its back to class to cook our food. Luis is patient and excellent at explaining things and we had a great time. Food was amazing and staff wonderful. Highly recommend this.

I had a fantastic time at the Peruvian cooking class with Javier as our instructor. We were a small group of 3 which was nice. We enjoyed visiting the market, shopping for our ingredients, and then prepared the dishes with lots of helpful instructions and information from Javier. There was a lovely assistant too which took care of the cleaning and washing and some of the more boring tasks. I wish cooking was always like this! The food was delicious and I definitely want to make it at home. You can choose between different menu options to cook, and either lunch or dinner time. There's also a quick option if you're very short on time. The class is great value at 140 soles, much less than others I saw online. You can just pop in and book direct. Highly recommended!

Had fun with our Chef Javier and his team, taking us on a tour of the local market to buy ingredients before returning to the test kitchen where we made Pisco Sours and a wonderful lunch. If you enjoy either cooking or eating you'll be happy with this experience.

I arrived to the class solo, and joined other people taking the class. Chef Javi took us to the market, we had a really nice tour with explanations, and bought ingredients for the cooking part. Then we cooked 3 course meal, had some fresh fruit to try, and made pisco sour. Very fun activity, great chef, and great food! I highly recommend

Pete was an amazing teacher and he's a great person too. I was in the class by myself and eventually got elevation sickness ans he helped me by providing some tea and took things slow.
Asides that, I really enjoyed the class and the food itself was yummy!
If you're considering this, do it!!!

We're planning to be in cusco for Inti Rymi and since my girlfriend is an avid cook, I would like to book a peruvian cooking class. How do I go about?
Written June 14, 2015
Sounds wonderful. How long is the cooking class?
Pick up & drop off at from Cusco hotel?
How do you make reservations? and how much in advance?
Written March 31, 2015
The class was about 3 and 1/2 hours. We booked directly with the school but I'm sure your hotel could do it for you. We walked to the school ( everything in central Cusco is within walking distance ) but if you happen to be too far taxis are plentiful and cheap. I can't exactly remember what we paid in advance, only that it was not very much. Hope you take the class - lots of fun, very well organized and informative.
