Wonderful short day trip from Cusco - these salt mines are a must see if you are going to the Sacred Valley. Gentle climbing, great vistas and good shopping for local stuff - including salt and chocolate. You will like this.

I didn't know much about this site prior to visiting, but am very glad I visited. The route to and from the site was also quite interesting and offered several photo opportunities. I highly recommend adding this to your itinerary.

Went here while traveling from cusco to ollantaytambo. The ticket is not part of the the bolero turistico, but it was only 10 sols pp. I was not wary visiting this as I was starting to feel ill from the altitude. Hubby nudged me to go to the terrace and it was with it, the salt terrace is not so... More

If you've never seen a salt mine, this ancient salt mine is definitely worth a visit, especially if you're already in nearby Cusco.

This is one of the most interesting places I have ever visited. Was able to talk to a local person that takes cares of the salt ponds. A must see if you go to Cusco and the surrounding areas.

It is a self guided tour where you will learn how the people in this area obtain salt. You can buy some salt to bring home, which is cool. It is a... More

We took a private tour here last year and it was definitely a spectacular sight to see. There are thousands of salt evaporation pooks nestled into the mountainside. I would highly recommend visiting!

This is the sort of place that I only recomend if you jave time to spare in the Sacred Valley and the season is right (dry). Makes a nice visit but I would skip to concentrate is some adventure tourism.
