We had a fabulous time on our Peru Trek 4 Good. We visited many places, Lima, Ballestas, Ica, Nazca, Arequipa, Colca Canyon, Puno, Lake Titicaca, Cusco, and, of course, Machu Picchu. We travelled in October and finished our trip in early November. The weather was terrific, sunny almost all of the time, warm, often hot, and so the sites we visited were shown to their best advantage in the sunshine. We booked a private driver for this trip and it turned out to be Yure Chavez, the owner of the company. He was terrific, giving us personalized tours of every site we visited except a couple of times when we had a different private guide. He was knowledgeable, friendly, willing to answer questions and offering information and insights about his country, from historical times to the present day. He is also warm, personable and very generous. I travelled with my brother and sister-in-law and Yure stopped for photo ops along the way, both planned and unplanned, and took photos of the three of us together at every site. I highly recommend booking a private driver for this tour. Having Yure was very special. The trip covers most of the sites tourists would like to visit and each of them had something unique and fascinating to offer. We took a plane up to see the Nazca lines, we had a boat trip to the Uros Islands on Lake Titicaca to see the islands made by hand of reeds and roots, and visited Taquile the same day, we visited many Inca sites, mummy burial graves, museums, the salt mines, circular terraces, and, of course, the best for last, Machu Picchu, in its awesome grandeur. It's a busy trip, but an excellent one. Having Yure as our driver and guide made it extra-special. Because we travelled by SUV, we went up to the higher elevations in a graduated way. That, plus taking our elevation medication and drinking coca tea and lots of water, made it easy to acclimatize to the very high elevations we encountered. The hotels we stayed in were very comfortable and well-located in city centres. Some meals were included, as listed, but dinners were not and because the hotels were in the city centre, restaurants abounded close by. It was good to have some free time to see the cities and towns and get a flavour of the local communities. We found that Peruvians are very family and community-minded and we saw lots of processions, Halloween parades and activities, and other rousing goings-on in the city centres. I know that I can speak for my brother and sister-in-law in saying that this was a very special trip to an absolutely beautiful country with diverse and stunning scenery. Choose Peru Trek 4 Good. You will not be disappointed.
