Ruben knows the perfect way to distract you from the strenuous Inca Trail with his mix of culture, history, and fun in his storytelling! He made my trekking experience in August 2011 so memoraable that I brought my family back for a Sacred Valley Tour in January 2020 and made sure to seek him out. It was truly unforgettable and Ruben was constantly looking for more opportunities to immerse us in the Peruvian lifestyle. I will definitely return and make sure to book through this fun-loving, experienced guide.

We are seven women from the ages of 51 to 76 years old. We booked the four day Inca Trail trek with Ruben and Kelly's company and our expectations were more than met! Ruben and Kelly took time to make sure we were fully prepared from our packing to lodging to restaurant choices. We had personal contact with a company representative from Cusco who helped us tremendously in more ways than one. Ruben and Kelly also kept in contact with us via texting and emails; the customer service was extraordinary and we never felt at a loss. Ruben made sure he knew our trekking guide and staff and we were very well taken care of. We were encouraged by the guide to go at our personal pace and one from our group had a difficult time getting up Dead Woman's Pass (el. 13,400') and the guide stayed with her all the way! The trek food was plenty and delicious and always ready when we hiked into camp. The porters were our heroes in carrying our extra gear and they always enthusiastically greeted us with high fives when we entered our camp for the night; they were a welcomed sight to see! I highly recommend the Inca Trail Trekking Company! You are not treated like a tourist, you are a family member!

We heard a lot of things about that Inca trail and Machu Picchu and decides that this year was the year...
Did a lot of research... read a lot of reviews, spoke to friends that made the treck...
Finally, I got in touch with Ruben... he answered all my questions and was extremely helpful in the preparation of the trip. He took care of every little detail from the very beginning to the end... he even come himself to pick us up at the train station to make sure everything was perfect and that we enjoyed the treck... asking questions on how he can improve, etc...

Make sure you have some time in Cusco before the treck to acclimate to the altitude... this can be hazardous if your body does not respond well to altitude... believe me...

42 km in the mountains was amazing..
First day is the « practice day »... challenging but accessible.
Second day, 10 km... through the dead woman, pass... 4 200 meters... you need a minimum fit ... thousands of steps... but the experience is amazing... altitude sickness may become a challenge... chew coca leaves, drink coca tea, make sure you have altitude medecines and everything will be ok.
The third day is the longest one but the most beautiful... mountains, trail, level of challenge, archeological sites, etc...
The last day, only 2 hours and you get out of the jungle at the sun gate, with a great view on Machu Picchu... a lot of emotion... and Machu Picchu is just amazing... can not say more... this is the gift after all those efforts...

Be prepared and fit and make sure you bring proper boots and equipements ...

Camping, toilettes (well.... you do what you can in the jungle :-) ) and cold shower... you need to be prepared for a little less confort compare to home... but ... deserved it very much.

The food was great...
Hot tea many times a day, good breakfast to get the required energy, snack, lunch, snack, diner... very good every time...
Very surprising if you take into account that porters have to carry everything from camp to camp... food, chairs, tents, propane, plates, etc..
Those porters are incredibles. I was barely able to climb the steps because I was exhausted... those people carry huge bags of material and they run to prepare the next camp, the food, the tents, etc... just amazing..

Finally our guide.. Jesus. Without him it would have been difficult to enjoyed. He was there, guiding use, providing advices, helping us while I was suffering from altitude sickness, adapting the rythme to us.
Knowledgeable about every archeological site, history, plants, animals. Solving every little problem we were facing, taking time to communicate with us.
He was an angel to us, making sure that we enjoyed our treck...
I saw many guides from other company and I think we were lucky to have him with us.

Would I recommend that company ? Definitively yes !!!

This was an amazing experience! We had 21 people on the trek (7 adults and 14 teenagers) and the guides, porters, cooks were wonderful. I am gluten sensitive and only had an issue with food on the last morning of the trek but other than that the cooks were very accomodating. Jesus, Joelle and Carlo were amazing guides. We stopped at other ruins along the trail and learned about the history and construction and the life of the Inka people so that when we arrrived at Machu Picchu it was all the more stunning with the deeper understanding we had been given over the previous 3 days.

Over all the trip with IntiSun Trek was phenominal and the company was very accomodating, understanding and had a great relationship with our group.

We took the 3 days Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. The owner, Jesus, who is also our guide is very friendly, knowledgeable and speaks good English (and several other languages too). We didn't hire an extra porter (to carry our stuff) when we booked the trip a few months ago. We regretted our decision but we read that it will not be possible to add a porter later. However, Jesus somehow managed to get one for us in the last minute. Plenty of food and it was almost like a fine cuisine tour. I certainly did not expect to have so many dishes of good food during a hiking trip! One good example of personalized service ... my wife wasn't feeling well for a short while and she had no appetite during lunch, she later casually commented that she missed a particular dish and Jesus was thoughtful to ask the cook to prepare that same dish for her during dinner. The cook changed the menu for her! 2 thumbs up for the portable toilet ... it makes a huge difference to the hiking experience, especially when the other companies are not providing the portable toilet. I strongly recommend Inti Sun Trek.

Jesus and his team gave us an incredible experience hiking the 4day inca trail. The company are well organised, provide excellent kit, outstanding food (thank you illeseo!), and have guides who have the perfect balance of knowledge, safety and fun!
We couldn't have asked for a better trip, thank you guys!!!

It's only appropriate that my first TripAdvisor review goes to Inca Trail Trekking Company. This was my 3rd Sacred Valley tour and it was by far the most thorough and fun. This was the most intimate tour I've had in Peru, with Ruben and Kelly adding personal touches like doling out homemade chicha morada (a traditional juice-like drink) to kick things off. After having gone on one mediocre and one straight-up terrible Sacred Valley tour, I can tell you with absolute certainty that if you're looking to experience Peruvian culture like locals do and feel the mystique and beauty that defines Peru, this is the tour for you.

We went with a group in July 2016, 6 of us, and another couple that joined the group. Poncho and his team met with us a few days before the trip, and explained some of the logistics, so there weren't many surprises on the trail.

As with most reviews, the porters are amazing, it's incredible what they do to haul gear and food up and down the mountain. They are truly amazing. The food on the trip was excellent, the soups very flavorful, the team was wonderful the whole time, I wish I could cook like that at home, much less in a camp setting!

If you can swing it, try to spend the first night off the trail in Aguas Calientes, we didnt really understand the city, and the way they booked the trains, we ended up with about 4 hours in Aguas Calientes, but were all dirty and tired from the trail. It would have been nice to have a hotel, where we could have showered and napped, then enjoyed the city.

It took a while for the video of our trip to arrive, though it's a small thing, since we all had photos on our own as well.

Overall, I would recommend Poncho and his team, and we had a great time on the trail. Just remember, no matter who you go with, there will be pit toilets, and the cleanliness is always an adventure :)

You can't go wrong with these guys. From the moment we booked our trip to the last step everything was great. The person we booked through ended up also being our guide, Poncho was incredibly fun and easy to work with. He made the trip for our group, from silly dancing along the trail to guided tours, to drinks after we finished, he was a trusted guide, a voice of encouragement when the hike was tough and a friend in the end. Our porters were incredible and the food was top-notch. The tents and seeping pads were great and everything was set up when we arrived at camp each afternoon. I think we ate better on the trail than we do at home. We had an absolutely wonderful experience with Inca Trail Trekking and would book them again in a heartbeat. I can't say enough about what a great experience this hike is, but I know that Poncho and his team were what made it so memorable.

We chose Peru Treks because of their commitment to their porters and local community; we were so glad they were also an excellent company to provide support on the Inca trail.
They got us to our campsites on time and everything was ready-- tents, tea, and food. On the second day-- the most difficult-- they set up a "second breakfast" complete with table cloths; such a help. And, the food was always amazing-- even a cake on the third day. Raul, our guide, and Edwin, our asst guide , were fantastic: caring and efficient. Thanks Peru Treks! We made it, and your company made that possible.
