Terra Quechua is a great company and we recommend them highly. They are a local Peruvian company and offer great services in Cusco, Sacred Valley & Machu Picchu. Edwin was extremely responsive via email and allowed us to fully customize our experience. We are a family of 6 and did the one day hike to Machu Picchu from the train stop at KM 104. Some people refer to this as the 2 day Inca Trail hike, but that is a reference to one day of hiking on the trail followed by a second day at Machu Picchu. We made all of our own train and hotel arrangements and Edwin did all of the work to source our hiking guide, permits, trail lunch etc.

Our guide Sam was amazing. We did this hike with kids aged 10, 16, 19 & 19. We were very worried that our 10 year old would not be able to complete the hike. It is a challenging hike but you can do it with kids this age if you have a great guide like Sam from Terra Quechua. The entire family agreed that the hike was the best part of our trip (7 nights in Galapagos and 5 nights in Peru). Sam was a big part of making the day special.

Sam was also our guide for a day in Cusco and that was an exceptional experience. He is extremely knowledgeable, personable and spoke perfect English. The kids loved him too.

We also used another guide from Terra Quechua, Roger, to tour us around sites in Sacred Valley. He too was outstanding.

We highly recommend Terra Quechua for anyone looking for guides, hikes or other adventures in Peru. Edwin and his team are professional, flexible, very reasonably priced and provide a first class experience.

If you are thinking of doing the one day hike to Machu Picchu from KM104 but you aren't sure if you can do it, you should definitely do it. You will be glad you did.

We closed a tour package to Machu Picchu with the Terra Quechua agency through Mr. Edwin. We were very worried about the possibility of not being able to visit Machu Picchu because even though we accessed the ticket website weeks in advance, we did not find availability on the dates we would be in Cusco. We found the agency by chance in person in Cusco and it was our luck. Mr. Edwin was very helpful and explained everything necessary to us so that we could purchase our tickets with ease. We closed a package with him so that, the next day, we could go to the city of Águas Calientes and buy tickets in person at the city's ticket office. The package proposed by Edwin included a transfer by van, tickets for the Inca Rail train, ticket to Machu Picchu, 1 night's accommodation in the city of Águas Calientes and a tour guide for the visit. We booked this package and embarked early the next day in the early hours of the morning, everything as agreed with Edwin, who throughout our tour was in contact with me via WhatsApp to guide me and answer any questions. Upon arriving in Aguas Calientes we were greeted by the guide who told us where to purchase tickets for Machu Picchu. We made the purchase and spent the rest of the day at the hotel selected by the agency. The hotel was close to the train station and was very comfortable, with breakfast included. We slept there and received guidance from the tour guide on the meeting point and visit to Machu Picchu the next day. Fortunately, we visited on a very pleasant day. The weather was cloudy at first but soon after the sun came out and we made the visit quite calmly, accompanied by tour guide Fábio. At the end of the visit, we waited for the train boarding time and returned to Cusco using the train + van route provided by the agency. We arrived in Cusco around 10pm and were dropped off in the historic center, very close to the hostel where we were staying. If you are looking for agencies to carry out your visit to Machu Picchu, I would definitely recommend Edwin's agency, who was very helpful and available to help us make the trip the way we expected.

The activities included within the Inca Jungle Trek were great - would really recommend doing this, just with any other company.

Midway through the trip, our guide told us that 2 of our friends didn’t have tickets for Machu Picchu, and would have to queue and possibly stay an extra day. Edwin, the owner, had made no reference to this before we left - despite him briefing us on two occasions. At this point, the expectation was that if we had to stay an extra day, the cost would be shouldered by us and not the company.

Two of our group queued at Machu Picchu for a number of hours, and the rest of the group was forced to wait with them - no access to the hostel was provided. Really put a dampener on our experience at MP town. Eventually they got tickets, but the time slot was two hours after the rest of the group, so we could not do it together.

On the evening before going to Machu Picchu, our guide told us he had a family emergency in Cusco and had to head back. As a result, we had no guide in Machu Picchu and no breakfast on the final day. Whilst this would obviously have been acceptable in the case of an emergency, it turned out that the guide had lied, and claimed to Edwin that he was with us the entire time.

Edwin refused to acknowledge any of our concerns, or any wrongdoing on his part. He lied about telling us about the ticket situation, and refused to refund us money despite the guide disappearing.

We bumped into plenty of people who were doing the same trek with other companies, having paid less. I’d recommend going with these other companies.

I have never written a bad review of anywhere before but would very strongly recommend using any company other than this one for a Machu Picchu tour. The main problems we had with them on the 3 day Inca Jungle Tour:

My friend and I booked on to the tour which 2 of our friends had already booked. Terra Quechua had tickets secured our friends’ tickets for Machu Picchu, but not ours, and Edwin at the tour company office did not tell us this before we went, even though we saw him there to pay the day before we left. On the first day of the tour, our tour guide Vicente let us know that we did not have tickets, and that we might not be able to go to Machu Picchu on the Saturday as we had been informed, but on the Sunday. We had already booked transport from Cusco, hostels and tours in Nasca & Huacachina, so an extra unplanned night in MP city would have been a huge problem.

As a result of us not having tickets booked, we had to get to MP city ASAP on the Friday to queue to register ourselves to buy tickets on the Saturday morning, meaning we missed out on a trip to the hot springs from Aguas Calientes, which was supposed to be an included activity. This queue took over 2 hours, and we then queued another 2 hours from 6AM on Saturday morning. Eventually we got 2PM tickets - our friends had 12PM tickets so we weren’t able to go with them. This queuing system obviously isn’t the fault of our tour company, but it was very dishonest that they took our money off us without telling us that we would have to do all this, while knowing there was every chance we may not get a Saturday ticket, and that there was a very good chance we wouldn’t be able to go to MP with our friends. At no point until we were on the tour were we told that our tickets had not been booked.

On the Friday night at dinner (before we had actually secured our tickets) our tour guide Vicente announced that he had a family emergency in Cusco and had to leave, so he wouldn’t be able to help us get the tickets, arrange transport to MP, or in fact actually do the guided tour of MP which we had paid for. We later found out this was a complete lie and he had told the tour company he was at MP with all four of us on Saturday.

The final issue with all of this is that ultimately we did get to MP (although without a guide at the top) and the activities we did as part of this tour were great. As a result, we went to speak to Edwin at Terra Quechua when we returned to Cusco, to let him know the issues we had with the trip and ask for some compensation. We didn’t really expect or even need to get much money back, but at the very least we expected an apology of some kind. Instead he offered zero apology, just kept insisting ‘you went to Machu Picchu so you got what you paid for’. Not only was he unapologetic, he lied to our faces (again) insisting that he had told us we didn’t have our tickets secured. We spent about half an hour in the office trying to get him to admit some responsibility, and he spent most of that time on his phone while we talked.

The first bad review I’ve ever written for anywhere as I don’t like the idea of using public reviews to trash a company, but this was probably the worst customer experience I’ve ever had and feel people should be warned.

I arranged a 2-day Machu Picchu tour for my wife through this company. Despite assurances from their representative, Edwin, the tour did not go as planned. The company outsourced the on-site organization to a local guide and failed to have a representative on location, unlike other tour groups we observed. This was particularly problematic when my wife had to spend hours in a long line trying to purchase an entry ticket to Machu Picchu.

The tour operator lacked transparency about the possibility of ticket shortages. Had we known, we could have allocated the significant costs of travel and accommodation to a more reliable experience. My wife ended up spending two days mostly in lines, without food or water, based on advice from the tour operator, who was not on location to assess the situation.

I cannot recommend this company. If you're considering a Machu Picchu tour, I advise booking directly through the government website and arranging a separate guide. We plan to return to Peru next year to ensure a better experience.

The Ministry of Culture is the main entity that does not know how to manage at all the number of visitors and can not have more spaces for those passengers who come with a little time to know Machupicchu. And the passengers are forced to stay 3 days, so that they can know Machupicchu, this are even whims of the people of Aguas Calientes so that each traveler is forced to consume in a restaurant or pay for 2 nights in a hotel. Based on all this what happened is that travelers have to take it out on us as travel agencies, they blame us for not having visited Machupicchu, they believe that everything depends on us, that we can handle this unfortunate situation in Machupicchu. They are leaving us a bad comment on our attractions, they should do it directly to the central government for being inept. this is the sales link to machupicchu. www.machupicchu.gob.pe This is where all travelers' complaints should go, not to the central government. The passenger Vidya Badrinath, knew that there was no income in the government system and was helped to organize her visit to Machupicchu in 2 days. With a reservation of one week in advance, taking into account the travelers who did have to wait in line to get the ticket to Machupicchu. Due to his management of the Ministry of Culture of the Government, in Aguas Calientes Machupicchu decide that you must make the purchase in a minimum of 3 days, due to lack of available spaces and mismanagement of the staff of sales of tickets to Machupicchu. It was suggested to the traveler to change or reschedule his flight to Lima, so that he could visit Machupicchu on the third day, but he did not want to agree. All this situation is not a problem of the travel agency, it is due to the changes that may occur at the time.

I throughly enjoyed my Palcoyo private tour organized by Edwin and his team. They are not only knowledgeable in organizing unique/customized tours but also genuinely enthusiastic, honest, and dedicated in providing the best customer services. For example they even went out of their way to bring me to a factory where alpaca products are made, out of my last minute desire to own a quality alpaca coat without sacrificing an arm or a leg. This wasn’t part of the tour package! Also, when I needed to take a covid test but couldn’t find a place that provided it at the preferred time, I called Edwin out of the blue as a last resort hoping he would be able to help me although this service wasn’t part of any tour TQP offers! And yes he has responded quickly with offer to take me to the clinic for the required test, like a friend, so I could have a peace of mind and importantly could board the plane to go home without trouble.

I highly recommend TQP and Edwin for your next visit. You will find a partner who not only helps enrich your travel experience but also looks after you while away from home!

I'm very satisfied with the company Terra Quechua Peru I did the 5 day Salkantay trek. The day before the trek started, we had a meeting in their office, where they explained the trip and what we needed. The guide was very nice and professional, he was always looking after our group, you can tell he loves what he does because he enjoys it and transmits it. The accommodation was very good, we slept under a dome which were located at different points of the trek! The food was fantastic, congratulations to the cook! ,
Overall, I would rate the company VERY GOOD and professional and would recommend it to my friends.

We did the 4 day 3 night dome salkantay trek with terra Quechua. Everything was very organised and the team were easily reachable even from the UK.
Our tour guide Abel was local to the area and was an expert in the trek, which made us feel at ease. He explained everything in English and Spanish and was very informative. Even when we couldn’t do certain parts due to land slides he found ways to ensure we still got to enjoy the area, such as taking us to different beautiful hot springs less known to the usual tourist route. He helped us when we were struggling with the altitude and motivated us to keep going. He performed a wonderful traditions ceremony at the top of salktantay pass which we really appreciated. At machu pichu he gave us a 3 hour personal tour about the history and future of the site. The chef was also incredible, providing tasty 3 course dinners with limited resources. The domes were clean and luxurious. The porters were also very friendly and helpful.
We highly recommend everyone, it was definitely worth the money

Our trip, booked through Getyourguide, operated by Terra Quechua Peru, met our expectations in almost all respects.
From the pick-up at the hotel, which was much sooner than expected until the departure of our guide everything worked fine and smoothly.
Mir Renaldo and Asencio we had two extremely lovable guides who were always approachable, took into account the needs of the individual and made sure that everything went smoothly. Our chef Javier did everything to ensure that different, varied dishes were served at every meal and even baked a cake at our last breakfast together.
The only thing we could not do as booked was climb Machu Picchu Mountain. Terra Quechua Peru had booked us the climb to Huayna Picchu, although it was agreed otherwise in advance. Hence a point deduction. Nevertheless, the view from this mountain was sensational and in conclusion remains to say we would book Terra Quechua Peru again at any time🙂
