I would highly recommend Cusi Travel to handle your bespoke plans to visit Peru. I worked with Amy on the travel details and she was incredibly detail oriented which made for a perfect trip from beginning until end. Cusi went above and beyond the call of duty and was there all along the way of our trip. We were teamed up with Puma as our guide and he was absolutely tremendous in his knowledge of Peru and the Inca culture. I was traveling with my mother and he helped here realize her dreams and he could have been better or more patient. I would highly recommend the entire Cusi team and I will be back to Peru and use them again. You need to look no further for your Peru planning needs. A++++++++++++++

My wife and I did a full day private Humantay Lake starting and ending in Cusco last week (end of May 2021). I live in Peru, and have done several treks with may types of tour operators. And, I must say that Cusi Travel have been one of the best, if not a best one. Jose, owner of Cusi Travel, was our guide. His English is far better than most local trek guides. His inspiring life story, passion and knowledge (from history to geology) of the region was an added value. A true test of the quality of an operator comes when things go wrong. On our way back to Cusco, there was a road accident that would close the road (perhaps for many hours). So Jose and our driver were quick on their feet to figure out an alternative off-road options though remote andean villages. A unique experience with the sunset and mountain views. We got to our Cusco hotel safe and happy. Thank you Cusi! Ric

Amazing, life-changing experience. This is a unique travel company, run by a local guide who decided to adapt what he had learned working for larger outfits to create a new company serving both adventure-seekers and the local community. First, the hike: Because we were not able to book 6 months in advance, the Inca Trail was full, so we opted for an alternative hike, “Caminata Mantanay” that ended up being much more natural. Our amazing three day hike up a mountain valley to some glacier lakes near Machu Picchu was both beautiful and serene—We only encountered to other hikers the whole time we were up there, and none on days two or three. We spent several nights in hidden valleys next to glaciar lakes, eating amazing food next to a roaring campfire. We encountered local communities in a friendly, casual setting, while enjoying amazing natural views. After three days on the trail, including with pack horses, we hopped the train to Machu Picchu, where out guide, Valerio, gave us an all-day tour. Second, the guides: Our guide Valerio spoke great English, and was very patient and knowledgeable, making sure we were adjusting to the altitude and answering our many questions about the local communicates, where he grew up. Indeed, what really impressed me about this company is it’s connection to the local communities. For example, the owners have created a scholarship system where each year they pay for the education of a few young people who come from these rural indigenous communities, then offer them internships and finally, if they do well, a job at the company. Thus, one the guides who assisted us was a young lady who was coming out of this internship, and I would compare her services favorably to those of any guide in town, including those from the U.S. and Europe who come here for the adventure and stay to guide other visitors from abroad. Finally, a random note about the food. I figured the cooks would keep us alive and that would be good enough. But instead the food was bizarrely good, prepared by a father-son pair who spoke a local dialect, but had studied at a local trekking-chef school (yes, apparently there is such a thing). Maybe I was just hungry, but I swear the steak and guacamole dish I had on the first night was one of the best meals I’ve ever been served. Anyway, I suspect you really can’t have a bad experience in Cusco, but I feel lucky to have found this little company that provides fantastic service and is also helping build up the communities that make Macchu Picchu and its environs a world class destination.

We had an absolutely incredible time on the Inca Trail hike with Cusi Travels. They were amazing, catered to our every need, and helped us make sure that we were prepped for the hike. Our tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable and told us about Incan history throughout the tour. The food during the hike was amazing — way beyond what I expected. Our team of Quechuas were amazing as well and made sure our every need was met and that we were ready for the hike! I would absolutely recommend Cusi Travel to anyone traveling in Peru

We had a great time during our custom 5-day trip in Cusco and Machu Picchu. Amy, Jose, Puma and Miguel are very kind, professional, and passionate about making sure we had a successful trip. And we did. The custom itinerary made for us were efficient and flexible. We learned a lot about Incan history and knowledge during this trip and good places to eat too! I didn’t mind having quinoa dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They were so good. And the box lunch prepared for us for the short inca trail hike from KM 104 was fresh, healthy and yummy. See for yourself in the picture attached. Amy, Jose, Puma and Miguel, thank you so much for such memorable trip.
