The best museum in Cusco.
Jan 2021
One of the best museums I have visited in Cusco. It is somewhat rustic and old but it has a large collection of objects that shows the pre-Columbian history of Peru in a chronological way.

Don't miss this museum in Cusco. Inka history is amazing. You can see the museum in about 1.5 hours.

Time can be better spent

Wasn’t impressed. Some nice artifacts but there are better museums to see them in. Not well organized and looks like I built the displays. Was champ and easy to walk through if you have the time.

Wasted Potential
Jan 2020 • Family
I was quite surprised to find myself bored in an Inkan museum.
The rich culture and heritage of the Inka empire is somewhat lost in its 20 rooms, with many displays of artifacts lacking any meaningful description. Moreover, some displays aren’t even translated into English- frustrating since Cusco is one of Peru’s most visited cities.
I would have liked to see more effort put into the displays- perhaps some interactive displays and more detailed descriptions.
Unfortunately, this was my most disappointing stop in Cusco.

Well recommended

Acknowledging that a visit to the Imperial city of Cusco is pretty much all about the Inkas, a visit this museum borders on the essential. The exhibits build up slowly from pre-Inka times and by the end you will have a good understanding and feel for the greatest empire of the Americas and its legacy. Allow one and a half hours; entrance charge is a modest 10 Soles for tourists, and S/.5 for Peruvian nationals.

Great potential
Jan 2020 • Family
This museum has great potential, nice old palace, interesting artefacts and information. However, it is neglected, worn down and desperately needs updating. Very few interactive displays, most of the interactive displays were out of order.

Our favourite was definitely the Inca’s mummies and the skulls. Shame that some of the description was in Spanish only, some of the description was so old and outdated. The lighting is also poor in some areas.

The ticket was reasonable (10 S).

Complements well the museum of pre colombian art
Dec 2019
Like museum of pre colombian art, Musuem of the Incas is situated in a beautiful palace and its is important tool to understand better this amazing civilization. In addition to particularly beautiful ceramic pieces, there are some interesting paintings, especially those showing the conquest by Pizarro of the Incas. It is quite fascinating that a group of 200 Spanish soldiers could conquer a mighty empire but the real reason was that Incas treated other ethnic groups with disdain, almost like slaves so there were plenty of those who joined conquista to defeat the Incas. There are some interesting panels of all Inca emperors.

Excellent presentation of high-quality artifacts
Dec 2019
This is the University collection of artifacts that are presented in a good timeline with good English and Spanish explanations. Artifacts are well-preserved and kept in humidity- and temperature-controlled cases.

Complete with mummies!

There turned out to be two floors of exhibits. There was some very nice pottery and other artifacts. There were even some mummies. Worth an hour or two of your time.

Poor museum
Nov 2019 • Friends
As an history enthusiast i was excited visit an inka museum in cusco, but unfortunately this museum is old and neglected. The findings are very unexciting, especially when there is very little information attached to them. The only reason i gave it 2 stars and not 1 is the cheap entry ticket, just 10 soles.
