Since we entered into the station, all the staff was really kind and follow all the protocols to avoid the increasing of new cases of Covid. My friend and I really appreciate one staff in particular, he's name was Diego and he kindly explained some cultural facts of route's places. We expect to visit it again another time.

My review will be split into booking (4*), picking up tickets (1*), changes to reservation (5*), and trip itself (3* pre, 5* viaje - ida y 3* pre, 5* viaje vuelta). When I was planning for the trip, I was trying to find train rides that could fit with my scheduled plans. There were not that many options for trips. For example, it was either taking a train at 12:30 or then wait until 5 pm. There just not that many options though IncaRail was significantly worse and that's why I chose PeruRail in the end. I kind of regretted it though. After buying the tickets, you have to go pick up your seats or actual tickets to an agency. Luckily there is one in Larcomar. I am staying in Lima. When I went, the agent was kind of cold and not very friendly. She gave us the tickets, sent us on our way and I just didn't know if the seats were close or not or where they were. I don't understand why we needed to do this. I paid for my tickets online, why can't I just get everything there instead of having to go to an agency. What if you do it late? You just get terrible seats?! Makes no sense. Once we were in Cusco, I went to the PeruRail office and the person there was lovely. I just have her my name and said "I have a feeling we got terrible seats, please could you give us better says?". This also happened just randomly btw. I just happened to stumble upon their office. Anyways, I WAS RIGHT! The person in Lima had just given us terrible seats. We were not sat together. Due to covid, people could only sit every other seat so we were given completely separated seats. Luckily the person in Cusco fixed this for us. I actually saw a couple who got the seats that were originally assigned to us and they requested a change! Another terrible disappointment is that they no longer offered luggage storing. I wanted to arrive early and visit Ollantaytambo and then get on the train. When I arrived at PeruRail, their luggage storage was CLOSED. They didn't say this anywhere in their website. For comparison, IncaRail did offer storage!!! This was just ridiculous. I asked what we could do and the person from PeruRail said we could "beg" someone from the restaurant next door (which at that time was closed). Everything was closed on the way to the train station in Ollantaytambo. Luckily we found one open hostel and offered to pay for having our bags stored. They agreed. Now we could visit Ollantaytambo! Boarding the train to Aguas Calientes was easy but there was no signage at all. The Vistadome was beautiful. We boarded almost a full hour before departure and just waited inside. I loved the train ride. It arrived a little bit late and it was made even later by requesting we all went through a little room that would disinfect us. This created a super long line because there was just no communication about this when we were about to leave the train. On the way back there was just no signage at all. We got at the end of a line that we thought was the line to board the train. It turns out it wasn't, it was the line for people who were waiting to buy a ticket. This was a less than subpar experience. When we finally were in the train, the ride was lovely.

The worst service Ever ! We came to Cusco because our dream was to experience Machu Picchu, we arrived to the train station in Ollantaytambo and only saw a Sing on the train station tht says "Operations are cancelled and no date for reopen due an strike" . We tryed to figure out about the strike and acording to the locals is because they do not want to put more trains for peruvians, they are one of the most expensive trains of the world, ther are chargins us USD 58.00 for 1 hour 45 minutes. the worst is that they never called us about the "cancellation", They said they sent an email, but we are on vacations!.. we were not into our emails. It is a pitty that we could not visit machu picchu because this company is only looking for his money and not for the peruvians rights. We have our tickets and they say they will refund, we do not wnt a refund guys, We want you to be honest and we want to visit Machu Picchu, you are the only way !! !
