We (my partner and I, aged 31) chose Quechuas Expeditions for three reasons:
1. They were recommended as a totally local provider who treat their staff well
2. They had an option to do a joint package of inca trail + tambopata
3. They had incredibly responsive communication via whatsapp (which helped us shape our trip to the whole of cusco)

They were not the cheapest provider, but by using Quechuas Expeditions we managed to guarantee an exceptional trip which proved to be the highlight of our 4 months travelling so far.

Being a small provider and the fact they have their own hotel in Cusco meant they could be incredibly flexible with us and even managed to help us whilst we were stuck in the road blocks/ protests.

The guides we had for both trips were flawless (inc english language) and we felt we had great value for money.

Thanks!

My wife and I completed the Inca Trail 3 day trail challenge and experienced a journey of a lifetime in the Andes mountains. Thanks to our guide Fernando ("Illapa"), we were treated to a physical and spiritual transformation on our three day walk that culminated at Macchu Picchu, one of the seven wonders of the world. The depth of Illapa's knowledge of the Inca people and traditions and his patience and warmth guided us along a grueling and rewarding - yet overwhelming beautiful - walk in the mountains. When we reached Macchu Picchu on the third day, Illapa gave us a private and informative tour of the site . When you throw in the bountiful and delicious Andean cuisine prepared by chef Armando, it was an experience we will remember forever. I think I ate and slept better on the trail in the mountains than in any hotel or restaurant in the rest of Peru. Every night we came into camp and our diligent team of porters had our tent and sleeping pads prepared for us and the hot tea ready! This trip with Quechuas Expeditions was worth every penny and I would heartily recommend it to anybody who wants to get to know the mountains, the history of the Incas, their companion(s), and themselves like never before.

We had an amazing time hiking the 4 day Lares Trek with Quechua Expeditions.
Thank you for the memories and for all the work you have done to make this a special experience. We were lucky enough to walk the trek at a really quiet time of year with literally no other tourists on the trail.
Our guide Hendrik was INCREDIBLE. A truly kind and wonderful human being, as we trekked through the rural communities he spoke Quechua to the locals, bought them coca, gave chocolates to the children. His love and admiration for nature was forever apparent and his knowledge was fantastic. Thank you Hendrik.

A huge thank you to Armando the chef who made us fantastic vegetarian feasts all throughout our trip. The horsemen - Gregorio and his 12 year old son Boris were incredible too, so helpful and friendly.

If you are looking for a tour company to trek with in Cusco, I cannot recommend Quechua Expeditions enough!

Good experience with this agency; well priced three day tour that lived up to our expectations. We appreciated the nice meals the cook prepared and also the information shared by the guide; also logistics (train, tent etc. ) were well taken care of. We had a three day track which was medium intensity; enough to get a good hiking experience, see Machu Pichu and explore some sights in the sacret valey. Would recommend this trip!

We went on the 4-day classic Inca tour to Machu Pichu. Our guide was Fernando with the chef Armando. We had a wonderful experience- the hikes were challenging yet amazing. Fernando provided valuable information about the Inca sites on the way as well as about the Inca civilization and Machu pichu in an interesting manner. The food provided was very tasty, had very good variety and was all from the local produce/ local dishes- that were adapted to a vegetarian and vegan palate. Fernando provided realistic estimates of the length of the hikes and their difficulty. This helped us prepare for the hikes and complete the hikes to all of our satisfaction. Fernando also clicked lovely photos of us during the trip. The trip ended with an Inca Expeditions train ride back to Ollantaytambo with a car ride back to our hotel. The train tickets and car ride were included in the original fee. The only thing not included was the breakfast on day 1, and water for Day 1 and Day 2. The camping tent was very comfortable, so were the campsites. The toilet facility was also very good (compared to general campsites). Carry toilet paper and wet tissues; and sanitizer- some spots may not have this. In day 2, we were able to get a cold shower in extremely cold water- it was cold, but felt fresh after the shower. Overall, we really enjoyed this journey (travelling on the same route as the chaskeys of Inca time) as well as the destination- the wonder of the world.

Booked the 2-day Humantay/Salkantay glamping tour through Quechuas Expeditions for January 9-10, 2023. It was cancelled due to the protests in Cusco. We paid for the tour in advance and was promised a refund if the tour was cancelled. The agency stopped corresponding with me and I have not received a refund. Beware of this dishonourable agency.

We booked the 4 days Manu JungleTour. Already during the Breaving the night before the tour we had a bad feeling. We got almost no information and also on questions we were asked with the sentence: This can be discussed with the guide on site, put off. The guide was nice but without experience and really interested us something to offer he was not either. In addition, a sick cook was taken in the car, which we then had to leave behind because of his poor condition. For us, that was extremely irresponsible of Quechua's Expeditons.
We saw a few monkeys and birds, but mostly we had to alert the guide to the animals/birds. He saw his job only as showing us the way and for him resting was more important than watching animals.
The accommodations were very basic, and partly we had neither electricity nor water. We were aware that we would have simple accommodation, but an appropriate info would have been good so that we could have prepared according to the circumstances (power bank, batteries etc.)
The price for this tour is very high by Peruvian standards and is disproportionate to the quality, extremely poor value for money.
We advise against booking a tour with Quechuas Expeditions.

We did a 4 day hike consisting of 2 days Salkantay, a days Inca trail of which 1 night was in a really nice dome.

The itinerary was really well planned - from the briefing where we met our guide at our hotel, to the food provided, tickets, hotels. It was a very enjoyable hike.

Jose luis our guide was well prepared for just about anything. The altitude in south america wasn’t something I could comprehend. Jose luis was patient, and was also open to sharing just about anything as well.

The only downside was our last hotel we stayed in. It wasn’t Quencha’s arrangement im sure but there was no toilet paper or towels when we checked in.

Jose luis actually went beyond to find us a separate hotel. While we didn take up the offer as we were too tired to move, I was very grateful.

To end the trip, we had a long ride back to Cusco and barely had time to pack etc as we were departing the next day early in the morning.

As part of the trip, Jose luis organised to have some of our dirty clothes to be brought back to Quencha’s office so that we could have a lighter hiking load. He saved us so much time and was such a sweetheart, he had our dirty clothes delivered to the hotel so that we didn’t need to go back to the office to pick it up at all.

Jose luis went above and beyond to help us with the little things. Often checking in on us to make sure we were well taken care of.

I highly recommend the tour too as most of the other tour groups seemed to be really crowded and busy as well.

We were lucky we were the only ones on the tour for this too.

We did a 5 day tour - Salkantay. Peru is absolutely beautiful! I took so many photos! Our guide was the best; very experienced and kept everyone informed of the trek and what to expect. He gave options, based on the needs of the group, and explained everything very clearly. We enjoyed hearing about the history of Machu Picchu as well as the nation of Peru. Luckily, the weather was great the entire time. He worked very hard with the chef and assistant chef to make sure any dietary needs/preferences were addressed and the food was so good! The horseman was professional and helped the group on the day we rode. Many had not ever been on a horse/donkey before but everything was well prepared. Aguas Caliente was such a fun place to visit and we enjoyed a mice meal together. We want to come hike again, the INCA trail, but we MUST have the same guide and support group as this trip!

Highly recommend Quechuas Expeditions for the 4-Day Salkantay Trek with Camping. Fernando was our guide and he was outstanding! He took time to get to know each member of the group and he did a great job of explaining the “plan” for each day to us. Moreover, he enhanced the experienced with detailed explanations about the history, culture, and ecology of the region. The trek was well-paced and included breaks at appropriate times. Armando (Taco) was our cook and all of the meals he prepared were hearty and delicious. Overall, it was an incredible week of learning Incan history and seeing stunning sights ranging from Lake Humantay to Machu Picchu. We hope to come back in the future and do the Inca Trail. Thank you, Fernando and Taco, for going above and beyond!
