What a great company. Wayki Trek and our team of porters and our personnel guide Franklin exceeded our upmost Expectations. My boyfriend and I did the 3 night/4 day Inca Trail hike to the Machu Picchu ruins. The porters carried out extra gear and also set up and broke down our campsite daily. We were welcomed back at our campsite after a hard day of hiking with applause and a happy hour. Which consisted of fresh brewed coffee, hot chocolate and a variety of hot teas. We also got fresh popped popcorn and a variety of cookies and snacks. Two hours later we were served A freshly prepared dinner, which included fresh soups, rice, chicken, beef, pasta, veggies and then dessert. The food on out trail was just as good if not better than the restaurants in Lima and Cusco. I can’t say enough good things about Franklin. He was very Knowledgeable, made sure everyone in our group was comfortable and let us go at our own pace, checking on all us through the day till after dinner. He had a great sense of humor and just made the trip very fun and enjoyable. I would highly recommend this tour company, I overheard other people on the trail that was not getting the same treatment as us. I’m not sure is Wayki trek is more expensive than other companies, but I’d say it was worth every penny spent and than some. If your planning a trip to the Inca Trail you must check this company out:)

Wayki Trek organized a two-day Machu Picchu experience for us and it was just wonderful. Everything was well organized and the Wayki Team was very flexible and accommodating.
Our very friendly guide Domingo shared his rich knowledge of the Inka culture and guided us safely through the rocks and stairs of MP. He even seemed to have the weather under control, stopping the rain, lifting the fog and bringing out the sun at the perfect time.

My experience with Jose and his crew on the 4 day Inca trail to Machu Picchu was amazing, one that I will always remember. I went for my 40th birthday with my friends and had an unbelievable experience. Jose and his crew were so wonderful and kind. They were very friendly , the meals that were made for us everyday were wonderful and so creative and delicious and so much food for everyone. They made me a birthday cake which I am forever grateful and they sang in Spanish happy birthday to me, made me feel very special. I would tell anybody who is interested in doing the hike to do it with way trek, they are awesome and very organized and give you an experience of a lifetime. Our tour guide leader, Jose, was so knowledgable and was with us supporting us every step of the way , thank you always Jose :) I just cant say enough about wayki trek, so if your thinking about doing it, do it and book with them you will not be disappointed. Cheers :)

Our trip in the Inca trail was beyond great going through Wayki Treks, and would highly recommend them. They provided all essentials: warm sleeping bags, comfy ThermaRest sleeping pads, camping pillows, blankets, hiking poles, and a toilet tent!
Our guide Franklin was very friendly and passionate about teaching us about the Inca culture and did everything he could to make it the best experience. He also doubled a great photographer and knew the best places we could get photos! He had an incredible knack for being able to predict exactly how long it would take us to get to the next stopping point or for when the weather would clear up.
Our porters and Chefs and waiter made this as easy as they could for us. They would always greet us with smiling faces and provided incredible service to us- we felt so spoiled! The food was absolutely amazing and plentiful, be prepared to overeat! Also The popcorn at happy hour was clutch.
While we had a few hiccups related to rainy/windy weather, we were with a great group that could laugh about it and turn it into a positive. So many great memories thanks to Franklin and the Wayki Treks crew!

If you're looking for a tour company to trek with to Machu Picchu, I highly recommend Wayky Trek; they're amazing! My husband and I did the 5 day/4 night Salkantay Trek with Luis as our guide and Sanome (not sure on spelling) and Elias (again, not sure on spelling) as our chefs for our three year anniversary trip. Our entire trek was AMAZING. Luis was really fun and he is very knowledgable on everything from the history of Machu Picchu and the local culture to the orchards growing along the lower parts of the trail. And the food was delicious! I have no idea how the chefs made such delicious food on a tiny little camping burner, but they did. Each meal had an appetizer, soup, main course, and desert! The best part was how kind everyone was and how much the entire crew went out of their way to make us feel special, welcome, and shared their culture with us. They also really care about the environment and local traditions and customs. Sanome and Elias met us (and Luis) on top of the Salkantay Pass and did a special blessing to bless our marriage and taught us how to give an offering to the mountain and Pachamama. It was a really beautiful and special moment for us and I don't think any other tour company would have done that. It really showed how much Wayki cares about their culture and they invite you to share in it with them. Also, our luggage was lost in Lima before the trek and Wayki went out of their way to help us. Jimena, who works in the office, spent her entire Sunday trying to track down our luggage and it was thanks to her that we finally got it. Wayki took us to the airpot to pick up our luggage and rearranged our trek because of the delay the luggage caused. Again, I don't think another tour company would have done that. Wayki really went out of their way to teach us about their culture and to ensure that we had a wonderful time. I wouldn't trek with any other company.

Our family ventured into Peru with uncertainty about the restrictions of the pandemic, and we were relieved to find that it was not as restrictive as we thought. We went with Peru For Less and they chose Wayki Trek for the 2-day trip up to Machu Picchu. Our guide Wily ("Willie")Jones was the best guide you could ask for. With 25 years of guiding experience, and a personality that inspires and makes you laugh, we had the most amazing adventure. The first day hike from the train stop at 104km took us about 7 hours of hiking the Inca Trail up past Winaywayna, the Sun Gate and into Machu Picchu. Each vista was even better than the one before.
We could not say enough good things about our guide, Wily. He knew everyone along the way, was always cracking jokes and made other tourists jealous that he wasn't their guide. At the end we were sad to say goodbye, but we knew we made a friend.

Everything about my experience with Wayki Trek on the 4-day/3-night Inca Trail to Machu Picchu exceeded my expectations! My guide was personable and very knowledgable, the cooks made delicious 5-course dishes for every meal, and the porters seemingly effortlessly carried my belongings along the journey. The hike was exhilarating while I have never seen so many stars in the night sky. This is a once in a lifetime event so do it right with Wayki Trek!

We just completed the 3 night 4 day Inka trail trek with Wayki travels and had a fabulous experience. Frankie was our guide and the group was small. We had 7 porters and 2 cooks and they were awesome. Everyone interacted with each other seamlessly and they were enjoying themselves while working hard to take care of us. Being backpackers it was overwhelming to be catered to. The tents were set up along with sleeping bags, hot water available for us to freshen up when we arrived. The food was unbelievably great. Fresh food (not packaged) local recipes and presented beautifully. There was a dining tent to hang out when it rained. All this was a luxury to us!
The trail at 9000-14000 ft was difficult to me especially due to altitude sickness even after attempting to acclimatize. Frankie constantly watched to make sure I was doing alright as I was the last in the group. He encouraged me on patiently and kept me interested by showing me the beautiful variety of flora . He was very knowledgeable with the history and culture and explained the ruins along the way.
Wayki trek is an organization that I highly recommend to anyone. Now that I have experienced them I would not hesitate to use their services again!

Wayki Trek provided us an unparalleled experience during our time in Peru. We did the four day inca trail package and Wayki also secured us tickets to climb Huayana Picchu in addition to our Macchupicchu entry. The whole organization is highly professional and helpful, they made the booking process stress-free. We appreciated the small group sizes and the level of customization that Wayki Trek provides.
Once on the Inca trail, we couldn't have asked for a better experience. Our guide Jose was so knowledgeable and booked/organized the best camp sites for our overnights. The porters and chef were simply amazing, they worked so hard to make us feel comfortable and prepared such delicious meals.
In addition to our four-day inca trail interary, Wayki Trek also organized two day-trip experiences for us, one to the Sacred Valley and the other to the Rainbow Mountains. Willy Jones was an amazing tour guide and our drivers, Enrique and Kenny, provided safe and reliable transportation.
We felt we got great value for all that we paid for and highly recommend Wayki Trek to anyone looking for a memorable experience in the Cusco area.

Wayki Trek was amazing. Every person on the team from the booking agents to the guide, chefs and porters on the trail provided great service. Our guide, Franklin, was extremely knowledgeable and was able to answer every question whether it was about botany, history etc. Our chefs, led by Andreas prepared phenomenal local meals and our porter team led by Torribio and Sanon worked so hard to keep us comfortable and safe. I would recommend this company to anyone planning to hike the Inca Trail without question!!

Hi there -- I am looking to do the Salkantay Trek. The price is $780 for an adult, but I am confused on the extra costs -- on one page it suggests a tent & camping equip IS included in the $780, for another it suggests a tent might be extra. Does anyone have experience with this? Thank you!!
Written September 18, 2022
Yes, we had the same confusion, but when we did the trek, the tent, sleeping bag, pillow, and poles were included, so we went thinking we had to spend extra and brought money for it, but ended up using that money for the Tip. Make sure you to calculate your tip ahead. They had a recommended tip, but verify the tip recommendation with the company when you are booking!

Has anyone taken the 4 day trek with Wayki that is vegan? I only see comments on their page regarding vegetarian. Any insight would be appreciated
Written October 9, 2021
Hi! Our guide, Sonia, told us that they have catered to vegans and vegetarians before. They made us a lot of corn and potatoes and in a lot of different ways. Plenty of rice and bread as well! Just let them know and I'm sure they can help you out.

Thank you for the wonderful info. We will be going May 13, 2020 and had a few questions. The mattress pads, are they enough or do we need to pack in a better one? Did you use a sleeping bag liner and area the bags mummy or regular style?
Thanks again,
Laura
Written November 6, 2019
Yes, I believe the sleeping pads were good enough. The sleeping bags were also fine in experience: good quality mummy bags.
There's a good "what to pack" section on the Wayki Trek website that I recommend reviewing: just add this to your homepage: /wayki-adventure/inca-trail/4-days.html

Hello there,
Hope you are well. I am hoping to do a tour from Cusco. We would like to start on 6/21 and have until 6/23 around 11am-12 pm to be back at Cusco.
We would like to see some glacier lakes, Ausungate Lake, hot springs, and Rainbow Mountain. We would also like all food and drink accomodations, tent rentals, and possible horses/etc. to carry our luggage. Please let us know what the minimum kg is for luggage or if there is one. Would all these sites be possible in that short amount of time. Please let me know how much for 2 women. Thank you.
Written May 31, 2018
Hi,
I did not do any of the areas you are planning on doing so can't really give you any advice on them.
The weight the horses carried was 8kgs per person, you could pay extra to get more horses. Some of the roads are really slow going so sometimes a journey takes longer than normal so you need to think about that.
The trekking companies supply all the tents and sleeping mattresses, food etc so that's something you don't have to worry about.
I would look at the various trekking companies and see what the duration is for doing the areas you want to do. There are plenty companies and hopefully one does all the places you want to go to.
Good luck! Peru is a fantastic place!

What is an average backpack weight for 4-day Inca trail (including the sleeping pad and sleeping bag)?
Written May 3, 2017
The porters carry all of that if you pay for a porter. If you do not pay for a porter the porters only carry food, tents, and gear they use to provide their services. Hikers carry all their own equipment including sleeping bag, sleeping mat, clothes, water, camera, etc.

Our daughters and a friend (ages 22 and 23) are looking into the 4 day Inca Trail hike with Wayki Trek. It sounds like Wayki may have availability for the small window our daughters can go. They had been looking at a Contiki tour which filled up before they could book it. It was nice that we could book the Contiki tour through a local travel agent where as with Wayki Trek we cannot.
Did anyone who has used Wayki Trek have issues with the company and have a difficult time since they are out of Peru?
Written January 9, 2017
Hello! We may have availability depending on what time frame you're looking for... the times that have sold out as of today (January 12) are the month of May, all but the first week of April, and the first week in June. We do have a chat function on our website where you can chat with someone live during our office hours of 9am-1pm and 2pm-6pm. Thank you!!

Hi Jason, I am thinking of making arrangements for the 4D/3N Inca Trail and I'm in between three companies Wayki Trek being one of them. They are a little over $100 more than two other companies which have similar good reviews. Even with the increased rates, do you still recommend them? Why do you think their cost is higher? Thank you
Written December 24, 2016
I was so incredibly impressed by Wayki Trek I think they are worth every penny.
Written January 15, 2017
Is Christmas time considered too rainy to do this trek at that time of year?
Written September 9, 2016
Hello! December is technically in the middle of the rainy season, and so can be very, very wet. That being said, the weather in Cusco and the surrounding area is also very unpredictable, so you never know if and how much rain there will be. You can absolutely do any of the treks in December, but you will want to be prepared for wet weather- a good poncho, something to cover your day pack, rain pants, waterproof shoes, and quick-dry moisture-wicking clothing, including plenty of socks. Actually, some people say the Andes and Machu Picchu look more mysterious in cloudy, rainy weather as the mountains do get up into the clouds.

Hi Guys, thank you to everyone that has posted.
I am attempting to book on the Wayki web-site but am not able to choose a date before leaving a deposit, is this normal, am I missing something?
Are there still available hikes for Mid-Late June?
Written March 3, 2016
Also, I see there is a minimum 2 person on many of the bookings, how should I get around this if I am traveling solo?

My parents are going on the 4 day Inca trek and my sisters and I wanted to get them some stuff for it. What type of things will they need? Headlamps? Lanterns? Fabric Repair tape?
Written July 24, 2015
The headlamp for sure, the buff was really nice to have, probably hand and foot warmers depending on time of year. One item I'd never thought about but loved was sock liners. They make them from a few different materials, a friend who had done the Inca Trail recommended them to us and they were amazing. They help your feet feel dry and I didn't feel like I was getting a blister ever! Dry sacks might be another idea. Makes sure you have something dry when you get to camp and helps keep packing organized.
