My friend and I signed up with the Incatrekkers based on a friend's recommendation and we had a great experience! I'll use this review to focus more on Incatrekkers themselves. Our guide was Bernabe and he made us feel safe and regularly encouraged us. Gave us mental tips and encouragement. Let us go at our own paces but hovered around us in case we needed help. Also bought this oil from a flower to help us during the areas of higher elevation. From a safety perspective, he's trained in first aid and carried oxygen in his back, which made us feel better. The porters and Bernabe were all very useful, friendly and helpful. Food was fantastic and you eat all your meals in a pretty fancy tent considering where you are. Every meal was 2-3 courses and the porters even set up hot water for you to wash up. A few tips for those considering using Inkatrekkers: - We were a small group of 3 and all of us had some watery poops so bring diarrhea medication! Other useful things to bring include cold medication, magnesium for sore muscles, electrolytes for hydration, pain killers, and blister bandages. - Bring a small lock for your bag ... I had fancy waterproof socks that I stupidly mentioned over dinner and they were missing from my bag at the very end (for the last part of the trip, the porters take your bags as your explore MP and you are not reunited with your bag till you reach a reservation meet up point); originally thought I misplaced them but that's when I also realized that some food and snacks (very specifically, an apple) were also missing from my bag and I don't accidentally misplace apples normally ... people from other groups also mentioned finding money missing from their bags - Waterproof everything is a must. I went with a rain jacket, rain pants, rain boots (for around the tent, not to hike me), water proof hikers, rain bag for my backpack and rain poncho. That said, I hate the rain.

My wife and I selected Incatrekkers to guide our 4 day Inca Trail hike based on their glowing TripAdvisor reviews. We can safely say this organization exceeded our expectations in every aspect of the trip. This is a locally owned and operated company that prides itself in providing a unique, personalized experience for small groups (1-8 people). Since we visited in the shoulder season (late October), my wife and I would up being in a group by ourselves and yet we paid a comparable rate to what we would have with a larger organization. Our Inkatrekkers guide (Frank) grew up in the region and is expert in all things flora, fauna, and Inca—he gave thorough descriptions of each magnificent Inca site, pointed out details we couldn’t have found, and answered all our questions. Being a small group enabled us to get out in front of the thundering herd of hikers every day (some other groups had 15+ members) and set our own pace—often we felt like we had the trail to ourselves. Inkatrekkers has clearly forged local relationships and know-how to secure the best, out-of-the-way sites to camp and eat, and our guide was able to guide us thru Machu Picchu and other sites to avoid the crowds. The food was wonderfully delicious and prepared by our cook with a flourish (the reports of cake are true!!), and our porters who tirelessly scrambled up and down the trail with all our gear serve with joyful smiles. Inkatrekkers definitely fine-tuned the trip to meet our individual needs and it all came together seamlessly. I would give this group as many stars as I could, and can’t emphasize enough how happy we are with the service they provided.

It was truly the experience of a lifetime! Our guide Juve was knowledgeable, professional and above all, patient and encouraging with a couple of older trekkers who were pushing their physical limits. Every detail was covered, which allowed for us to concentrate on the amazing scenery around us. Our time at Machu Picchu was enriched by Juve's incredible knowledge of the site and of Inca history. We did a lot of research before choosing Incatrekkers and we couldn't have been happier with our choice!

Once we decided we are going to Peru, we did a lot of research in travel agencies, to pick the best one. We didn’t want big, heartless companies, and also reasonably priced. Came across the Incatrekkers and couldn’t be any happier! Fabiano, who we were first emailing with, was very helpful, professional and responded very quickly to every email. We decided to take the 2 days/1 night Inca Trek. We booked very last minute, but were quickly scheduled a ‘briefing’ in our hotel to be updated with the most important information and also to check, how we were coping with the altitude sickness. Juve came to our hotel at our convenient time. His English was great and he was a lovely person. He also was our tour guide throughout the next few days. The day of the trip we got picked up, exactly on time and were drove to the place we were taking the train from. The train was middle range (was actually great!) and the views were amazing. From the starting point of our trek Juve was stopping from time to time to explain us the fauna and flora of the national park, tell us about the birds and answer all of our questions. We made a few minutes stop at Inca sites on the way, we were checked on our fitness and comfort frequently. Juve’s knowledge about the Incas, Peru and the descendant generations was incredible! We were truly amazed! The packed lunch from the Incatrekkers was also very yummy! We stayed in ok hotel, had dinner included (set menu with plenty of choice!), breakfast as well. Juve kept all tickets with him at all times, reminded us about the documents, bathrooms, suncream, drinking water and all simple things all the first- time hikers would forget about. We went to Machu Picchu the following day again, to explore the site and had good 3 hours of pictures (he knows the best spots- that’s his secret hobby!), history and explanations. Also, they organised the special tickets that only some tour guides can, we didn’t wait for the morning bus for hours like the other people! We cannot wait to book with them again, Juve and his team are very reliable, passionate and proud about their history and what’s very important, they would do everything to make you remember Peru with a big smile on your face! Incatrekkers, we will be back!

2 day inca trail tour = best decision we made with our visit to machu picchu. The walk it's self is incredible and has many sites to see along the way including some inca settlements. And we got to see machu picchu twice which was great as on the first day it was late afternoon which provided a nice light and not many tourists in your pictures. Then the next day we got to see it again but as it rained overnight it was covered it scattered cloud which gave some interesting different photos. We got the best of both worlds. Our guide was also amazing as he grew up in the highlands and was genuinely dedicated to learning about it's true history from the locals in their native language. We felt like we learned alot about machu picchu and enjoyed every second of the tour. I would very highly recommend this tour company to anyone!
