I recently visited Cusco after a long-overdue trip since early 90’s. I was highly recommended by my sister to use Apumayo Expeditions since she has known them for almost 3 decades. From the moment I started discussion of my plans with Jackeline “Jackie” Atao to the end of my trip, I was taken care of every step of the way. Since I had not been to Cusco in many years, I wanted to ensure I was guided properly. I also took my boyfriend for the first time and we had a tight schedule. Despite of the rainy season and flight cancellation, we still made it to our trip. Our flight to Cusco was cancelled while on the gate and LATAM put us on the first flight a few hours later. Knowing that we would miss the first stop in our tour, Jackie was very accommodating and gave us the chance to rest before meeting the rest of the group. Our driver, Fidel, was very professional and accommodating throughout our trip. The welcome amenities in the car added a nice touch after being sleep deprived and sensitive to the altitude. He ensured to pick us up and drop us off on time with all the pertinent information. After our first day in Pisac and Ollantaytambo, we had a restful night and woke up the following day feeling more acclimated. Machu Picchu was absolutely stunning and a very different experience from 20 years ago. I was pleased to see the organization to ensure that the ruins are preserved and protected from the vast number of visitors. We had two different tour guides who were seasoned and accommodating. Throughout the trip, Jackie and Fidel were very responsive and attentive to our needs. My boyfriend and I are very pleased with the service and highly recommend this company to anyone visiting Cusco. They work with all sorts of groups and preferences. I’m looking forward to our next trip. Clearly, we need to return to explore the city and surrounding towns for a longer period of time.

Apumayu put together a very well-planned trip to Cusco, the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu. Every hotel was totally handicapped accessible as were all restaurants and conveyances. William, Marco and our driver, Aurelio evidenced remarkable attention to detail. William could not have been more knowledgeable about the various sites as well as being very detailed about our itinerary and what to expect for weather. They carried my wheelchair around Machu Picchu for a more extensive tour than I ever expected! I highly recommend Apumayu to anyone traveling through Cusco whether handicapped or able bodied! This was truly a “trip of a lifetime”!

I went on the 5 day Inca trail trek with Apumayo, as well as booking a couple custom sightseeing tours with them before the trek (around the Sacred Valley). Setting up the tours was easy - the staff were friendly and easy to communicate with via email. The Inca trail trek itself was an amazing experience. Our guide Franklin and the team that traveled with us were top notch! So knowledgeable and friendly - I feel like I received a full undergraduate lesson in Inca / Peruvian history, not to mention an extensive education about the flora and fauna that abound on the trail! One thing to know if you go with them (and you should!) - the service we received was excellent, but you should expect to be on top of your own itinerary. For example, do you know if you want to climb Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu mountain as part of your experience? Figure that out yourself and then tell them, and they'll book it. Don't expect them to proactively ask about add-ons like this. Similarly, get copies or otherwise confirm the exact dates of passes that they'll get on your behalf for Machu Picchu and the Inca trail. The Peruvian government is adding additional restrictions to Machu Picchu (it's a good thing) and you want to make sure you have the right passes on the right days to allow you to see everything you want to see. I highly recommend Apumayo for your Inca Trail / Sacred Valley adventures.

Nothing but high praise for the staff on our trek. Yamil was so kind, attentive, passionate about his country and shared so much information. Mario ,wow his culinary skills are fantastic. Juan Alfredo and Rojer were so attentive and worked so hard to assure our safety comfort and enjoyment. This was a dream trip for our group. Thank you Apumayo for making sure the dream was met.

I can't say enough about Apumayo and the excellent job they did with our group. Our main contact was Alberto who always answered his emails quickly and thoroughly. Once the trip began we had Wilson and Jesus as our main guides along with Marco as an assistant.. This trip became tricky as our train bound for Machu Picchu was blocked as there were protesters blocking the railway and then 2 trains crashed into each other after the delay. It was world news. We had to scramble at this point as we were not getting into Machu Picchu where our hotel was. Jesus got on his cell phone and found a hotel in Ollantattambo that had the 21 rooms I needed. Then he found a way to get our group to Machu Picchu the next day involving vans going around the back way. He even got our group on the local train for the last 7 miles instead of walking, which we were all planning on doing. It was just excellent scrambling and working so hard for our group. I just had to write a review.
