My friend invited to go to Inca trail 4-day trekking tour, I had never done any trekking in my life before but I am glad I said yes, it was AMAZING! Our tour guides Elisban and Tom were so friendly and helpful. I had a bit of high altitude sickness and stomachache since I landed Cusco, so I couldn't keep up with the team, Tom would stay behind and accompany me to make sure everything is ok. And they would always check up on me to make sure I am ok as well. AND THE FOOD! my god, I was so impressed, everything tasted really good, even better than restaurants in my opinions! and the chef even made us a cake to farewell us!!! That was so sweet!!! They also care so much for the local children and built a library for them, I do recommend you to bring maybe some stationaries or toys or Spanish children books even to donate to them. I highly highly recommend this company to anyone who is interested in doing trekking tours.

We booked the Inca Trail Express to Machu Picchu, 7 days, although, we cut the tour down to 6 days and swapped a couple of itineraries and TreXperience was very accommodating. Especially for planning just 3 weeks before arrival. Overall, the trip was amazing! Efrain was the perfect guide! He is very knowledgeable, encouraging, and patient. Efrain kept us on a schedule, alerted us of what to expect next throughout the day, and helped us prepare for the next day (as far as different gear needed), which was invaluable. We really lucked out on the timing of visits, both with the amount of other tourists and the weather. Some sites we were some of the only people there, which was really nice. We only experienced rain/snow on the descent of Huayna Picchu and Rainbow Mountain/Red Valley, so we lucked out on perfect weather and views for each site, thanks to Efrain! He also knew the best spots for photos and helped take several of ours. And the drivers (Victor and Oscar) got us to each place safely and timely.

Day 1: we acclimatized in Cusco and toured some of the city on our own.
Day 2: Efrain greeted us at our hotel and off we went! We got more than we expected on the Sacred Valley tour, which was amazing.
Day 3/4: short Inca Trail hike to Machu Picchu. Breathtaking in more ways than one! We added on Huayna Picchu, which gives you another perspective of Machu Picchu, beautiful! Efrain knew some extra details other guides didn’t seem to know, along with spending a moment to create a ceremony, where other guides just breezed through (like at the sun gate and on the top of Huayna Picchu).
Day 5: our Rainbow Mountain/Red Valley day. We felt like royalty with a picnic breakfast and lunch before and after the hike at a quaint spot next to the river. The chef and sous chef (Celso and Leonardo) were fantastic and put special details into each meal. We opted for the horseback ride for the first part of the trail, as the most challenging part is the hike to the summit. So beautiful, but not for the faint of heart!
Day 6: Cusco city tour, where we visited more Inca sites and a couple of other areas. A great way to end the trip, especially since we were flying out that night.

Overall, our experience with TreXperience was great and Efrain was fantastic!!!

The trek was so well-planned, detailed, and organized! The views speak for themselves, but TreXperience and our guide really thought of everything to make sure we enjoyed our hike. Each campsite was set up effortlessly, the food was delicious, and the entire team was very supportive the entire way. Our guide, Vidal, was so kind, personable, knowledgable about the Incan culture, and quick to share facts about our surroundings. He led us at the perfect pace, and understood when we needed to pause for a photo or breathing break. I would highly recommend booking through TreXperience for any treks you're looking to do while in Cusco!

If I could rate just the tour guide himself, I'd give him 5 stars for being funny, informative and all-around pleasant to be with throughout the tour.

Unfortunately, due to the poor planning (whether intentional or unintentional) carried out by Trexperience, it unfortunately worsened the experience. Hopefully this review can act as some constructive criticism for them.

The first day tour of Chinchero, Moray, Maras and Ollantaytambo went pretty smoothly. But the food at the designated restaurants was not that great and very sneakily did not include drinks.

The included accomodation at Machu Picchu Town was absolutely shocking and was one of the cheapest hotels available, clearly assigned by Trexperience just because of its low price. The hotel was also actually rated below the three-stars that it said it would be on the summary.

The second day, it was a great idea getting up early in order to be one of the first to visit Machu Picchu on that day. The tour of Machu Picchu was great but I definitely did not enjoy having my restaurant being assigned to me and then having to pay for it myself; If I'm paying for a restaurant, I want to be able to choose myself where I dine.

The cherry on the top for poor planning came where Trexperience assigned me to Seat 2 and assigned my girlfriend to Seat 26, the other end of the train.

Clearly Trexperience do not put much thought into planning which leaves the guide having to fight a difficult battle to leave to customer satisfied.

All in all, a great experience disturbed by poor organisation.

Dear Jake, Thank you so much for taking the time to write this valuable review, we always take very seriously our customer's feedback: We have contacted you to verify the places you went to during the tour and also to get some information about the second-day restaurant that we do not include (you are free to choose any restaurant) but we didn't get a reply. During the Maras Moray Tour, we provide transportation, a private guide, entry tickets, meals in local restaurants, 3-star hotels, and panoramic trains to return. For lunch, on the first day, we work with the best local restaurants like Tika Wasi, Pukapunku, they serve local food in a buffet style, and some drinks like beers, coffee, this is in general all restaurants in Cusco region will not include drinks. In Ollantaytambo dinner is served in a menu style, you can choose appetizers, main dishes, and drinks are not included. The Hotels, we work with the best hotel in Aguas Calientes in the 3-star category, like Susanna INN, Intipunku, Waman Machu picchu. Form this the preferred hotel is Susanna due to the river view and wider rooms and good service. After researching, your hotel assigned was Susanna INN, but due to overbooking the hotel was changed to Adventure House, a new hotel that is next to Susanna, same category, same services, of course, this was not authorized by our company and we will not be going to this hotel anymore. All hotels in Aguas Calientes are located near the railways, or the nightclubs area, is a very small town and noise could be always a problem no matter which hotel, we choose carefully our hotels according to our customers feedback. On the last day, we don't include lunch, you are free to go anywhere you prefer, we don't know how or why your tour guide or we don't know who suggested or take you to a specific restaurant, this is why we contacted you to have more information, please we would highly appreciate if you can give us more information because we don't include lunch and we do not suggest a specific restaurant. We are really sorry that we met your expectation, we will work harder with the suppliers to avoid future disappointments with our guests. Thank you for traveling with us. Best Carlos Coronel

The last five days have been great. Doing the Salkantay Route, there are ups and downs. But the TreXperience team always managed to keep us motivated. A small group made the trekking more individual. We avoided big crowds by camping always a little bit further ahead than every other group. The organizing, including pick up from hotel went flawless. The transport of the tents, the dufflebags and everything else, were perfectly managed by the horseman Manuel. Chef Raimundo and his assistance Mercedes kept us motivated by providing five star breakfast, lunch and dinner during the complete tour. And tour guide Nilo did a perfect job by being well organized, helpful and funny. He managed to lead us through the ups and downsof the last five days. He was able to answer any question about Machu Picchu, the Inca empire and was always well prepared for the next days challange.
I would love to repeat this experience one day.
I can only recommend, spending a little bit more money, for this awesome team of guides, chefs, horsemen and porters.
Thank you for the awesome experience!

What an amazing experience it was to walk the Inca Trail with Trexperience! This local tour operator offers Impeccable, personable and high quality service. We were only 8 people in our group, including our family of 4.. We were all picked up from our different hotels in a new van a taken to the starting point; we were also dropped off at the end. Our guide Elvis Roque spoke excellent English, had vast knowledge of Inca history (he held a degree in tourism) and was extremely considerate of our needs as well as the porters’. Our second guide Maribel Tumpay Quispe was the group’s kind caretaker. She would wait patiently for any hiker who would lag behind whilst taking photos, made sure we were warm enough, had enough water, etc. Our chef Carmelo would bring out delicious meals every time. We never understood how he could produce such masterpieces in a camping tent. Our porters were incredibly hard working, attentive and well mannered. It was so nice to arrive to a perfectly set up camp at the end of the day, even under torrential rain, hot drinks and all!
Additionally, we got to witness the projects Trexperience has created to support the local community.
I have no doubts in recommending these guys. They are AMAZING.

We had an amazing time trekking up to machu pichu over 4 days. The porters from trexperience were amazingly helpful and friendly while carrying what appeared to be their body weight on their backs. Elvis was also a super helpful guide who really helped to make the experience enjoyable. He taught us about the Incan sites and you can tell that he is a real fan of history and cares deeply about Incan culture with a desire to stay up to date on all of the newest developments from archeologists and scholars. He actually corrected a few things that other guides had taught us incorrectly. The Inca trail is a quite difficult trek at times and the trexperience team helped to make things easier. The lunches and dinners that were provided were also amazing considering they were cooked in the jungle at a camp site. Our chef Rolando seemed to be top notch, even plating things beautifully which was surprising given we were hours from civilization. The Inca trail was an amazing and incredible beautiful experience that I would recommend to anyone to do before they die and I would recommend trexperience to anyone who was thinking of doing it. Elvis and his team really were incredible!

We did the 5 day Slow Inca Trail hike and don’t regret choosing this itinerary for a single moment. The trek covered around 45km and included 3 nights camping in the most stunning remote campsites and one night in a mid range clean hotel in the town at the end.

The team at Trexperience were truly marvellous. We weren’t aware but the trek was only the two of us and a team of 9 just for us; 7 porters, 1 chef and a guide. Our head porter Maximiliano was very helpful and patient helping us organise our luggage (only 7kg). His team were incredibly efficient at setting up camp, even with a toilet in a tent for us! Our tents were always set up for us with our luggage ready and an inflatable mattress ready for a great night’s sleep.

Our chef, Alejandro, produced the most impeccable food which was without doubt of restaurant standard, and all prepared in a tent on a camping stove. Incredible. We had 3 meals a day which were all substantial and with snacks and water always on hand. Wilfredo had his first season as a porter and at only 19 worked so hard and never stopped smiling. Mario, Temptation, Juan

Finally, our guide, Katia, made the trip so memorable. She invoked such feeling and passed her Quechua heritage and Incan culture to us with heart. The trek became not only informative but provided so much more. We began to understand the importance of the trail for the Quechua people and the history of their civilisation. The trail became a crescendo for the ultimate reveal of Machu Picchu.

Our eyes were opened to another way of living through meditative techniques that we were introduced to at sunrise on mountain tops or in the sacred place of Machu Picchu; all down to Katia.

Thank you to every one at Trex and we hope to have another adventure with you again! I cannot recommend our team on our trek and the company enough.

I hiked the classic Inca trail guided by the excellent Elisban in early January. This wonderfully organised and well priced four-day tour is an absolute no-brainer if you are looking for something truly authentic and an experience that you will never forget. The staff, made entirely of locals, is absolutely outstanding. You will be looked after from start to finish, as Trexperience go out of their way to deliver the best possible experience. A special mention goes to the chef Leonardo and his sous chef wife Margo, who did nagic cooking amazing food to delight our palate. In conclusion, I can't recommend Trexperience highly enough.

I have travelled around the world (40+) countries and experienced a lot of tours and I can say that this is one of my best experiences with a tour group ever. The 4 day hike to Machu Picchu is a experience not to miss and Trexperience has delivered a perfect tour.
There were 6 of us in the group and our guide Juvenal Sutta was very attentive and supportive of us. Sutta is one of the best guides I’ve ever had as he explained the important details of the whole tour. He was also very engaging with the group as he would also ask questions and explain in detail everything. Sutta also brings his experience and wisdom with him, he has been to survival and first aid classes. He has a satellite phone, oxygen, and first aid with him all the time. He always asks us if we are ok and reminds us of how to survive the high altitude and the grueling hike. Juvenal Sutta is the best!

Our cook Oscar was one of the best cooks I’ve ever seen considering how and where we were whenever he cooked for us, he delivered 110%. He is very creative and very thoughtful to all of our requests including allergies and certain food restrictions. Our whole group never had any complaints and we were full of complements as we were able to experience all of the best Peruvian cuisine has to offer. Chef Oscar is a young and promising chef that would be very successful in the future. I wish him all the best.

Our porters led by Santos were awesome. We could never imagine how they could all do it. They always had a smile on their face and never complained. I have never seen so much dedication and hospitality to their customers. Their skill and endurance is unmatched considering how old they were compared to our group.

Our 4 day hike was perfect. The weather agreed with us, the time we left for our hikes everyday were perfect which means the guides and the company has a lot of experience. We were one of the first ones to get to the Sun Gate and to Machu Picchu just in time for the sunrise. Everything was perfect! Truly an unforgettable experience!
