My family and I did the classic 4 day Inca trail to Machu Picchu in August 2017 and had such a fantastic time with Jaime that, when we were in the area again in August 2019, we booked to do the two day Inca trail to Machu Picchu with Jaime. We found Jaime to be a very knowledgable guide with lots of interesting insights. He was also very good company and he got on very well with the entire family. Having Jaime as our guide was a huge part of what made the trip so successful and enjoyable. Jaime was very supportive when we struggled and motivated us to keep going in a way that made the hardest parts feel manageable - I would never have got up Dead Woman’s Pass without him! Jaime always stayed with the group, going at the pace of the slowest, which made us all feel safe and looked-after, something I know from previous experience not all guides do. I would 100% recommend Jaime and look forward to trekking with him again next time I am in Cusco!

So in August 2019 we did the 2 day Inca Trail with Jaime.
We did the classic Inca Trail with him in August 2017.
Because the 2017 trip had been so amazing we booked with him again in 2019.
It is hard to explain what an amazing guide he is.
Both treks but in particular the first are very challenging. Jaime is massively supportive and encouraging. He helped us when we struggled - he is very patient and helps to dispel moments of self doubt. He is also very good company, has a good sense of humour and makes the treks fun. He is very knowledgeable.
We were trekking with our adult kids and Jaime was great with my husband and me(in our early sixties)and our grown up kids(in their twenties). He was a great hit with all of us.
He has the ability to make you feel safe and to make it fun too.
Our kids speak Spanish and they spoke to Jaime in Spanish at times. His English is excellent.
We hope to return to Cusco soon and do the Choquequirao trek with Jaime.
I simply cannot recommend Jaime as a guide too highly.

When Machu Picchu first reopened in Nov 2020, my friend and I did a 2-day Inca Trail trekking tour with Jaime. He was well-organized, knowledgeable and easy-going. We learned a lot about the Incan culture from him as well as interesting facts about the Sacred Valley as he is a native from Ollantaytambo. He gave us great encouragement when we felt tired on the trail, and was extremely patient when we were running late.

All in all, highly recommended guide and company. Would love to do other treks such as Lares and Salkantay with him again!

Jaime Zuniga is 5 Stars. My wife and I recently when to Machu Picchu, did the 12km hike of the Inca Trail and viewed several amazing archaeological sites in the Cusco area. Jaime is excellent - he showed us so many wonderful places, had excellent historical knowledge of the area and often went out of his way to accommodate our interests and show us a little more of Cusco, Aqua Caliente and the Sacred Valley. He made our trip.

I was a solo traveler having completed the 4 day 3 night trek. There were 11 (5 women, 6 men) in the group with 10/11 having English as their 2nd language. Everyone spoke English at meals. The guide came to the hotel the evening prior to introduce himself, presenting a map of our route and campsites, and gave me a bag for my belongings for the porters to carry no more than 22 pounds, mine was 15 pounds. We were one of three groups who hiked further on the first and second day and less on the third day having the third afternoon to tour the agriculture site to MacchuPiccu. Our group was always the last to leave in the mornings which gave us the beauty of hiking the trail as if no one else was there. The other groups were hours behind us. Each of our group hiked at their own pace. I hiked solo, I could not see anyone ahead of me nor anyone when I turned around, solo hiking was wonderful. Bathrooms are available along the trail when we camped at night and lunch. There are male and female entry ways with individual stalls, tile floors, and a porcelain hole going into the ground with a high tank and a long string to flush the contents down the hole. You have to squat to go to the bathroom. Practice your squatting especially if you are a big person. I saw an attendant at each bathroom with an available hose and broom. Toilet paper and soap is nonexistent. I carried my TP in a plastic bag in my side pant cargo pocket, always there when needed. I replenished my TP supply at night. I wish I had a small bar of soap in my pocket I could reuse. There was always running tap water available, hand gel is good, soap is better. I used my hiking poles while several others in the group did without. It was a matter of preference. The food was good and abundant, we even had happy hour every night with tea. The lunch meal was as big as the evening meal having rice at every meal. I had a tent to myself with a subzero sleeping bag. The first two nights were down to 45 degrees with no wind - pleasant sleeping weather. On the second day it rained before we got up and rained until we stopped for lunch. The group later talked about how miserable they were hiking in the rain because they were cold and wet or sweating. They either wore thin ponchos or only a rain jacket. I had a Marmot precip jacket with open zipper vents under the arms and Marmot rain pants. I was comfortable hiking and perfectly dressed for the rain. I also used a 26 liter airlite Deuter for my day pack with attached rain cover. The guides (Jamie & Jonathan) were personable and always watching out for each of our welfare as we hiked. They shared much information about the trail. There were people in our group that did not prepare for the trail and it showed. They did struggle at times. I ran 5 miles twice weekly and swam one mile twice weekly plus hiking every week. I was physically prepared and enjoyed the trek. I was the oldest (60 yo) in the group. What I brought and used: 2 pairs zip (never unzipped legs) hiking pants, 2 long sleeve shirts, 4 short sleeve shirts, 2 bras, 4 panties, fleece jacket, Mountainware 650 fill puffy jacket (able to fold up into a pocket), buff for neck, comb, toothbrush/paste, bug spray (never used), lip balm, sunscreen, 3 pairs socks with liners, hiking boots/poles, day hat, stocking hat/gloves, sleep socks/pants/shirt, tennis shoes, toilet paper, hand gel, camera/extra batteries, snacks, and my day pack. I wish I brought a soap bar rather than the sliver soap in a small case, glad I did not bring my binoculars. I saw many people carrying their own gear which is okay but do you really need all the "just in case stuff". Hire a porter and really, really enjoy the trek and the beautiful scenery. Thank you to the guides and all the wonderful people in my group who made my trek AWESOME!!!

Elias was our guide for 4 days. He took us to a lot of historic sites/ruins around Cusco, met us at Machu Picchu and guided us there.

It was clear that Elias was very passionate about the history of his native Peru and went the extra mile to give us a thorough understanding of what we were seeing.

He had a very positive attitude and cheerfully led our team through some pretty long hikes. Also, navigating the labyrinth entrance requirements for the various sites was very helpful and we not have done it ourselves.

He absolutely made the trip worthwhile and was well worth the price we paid.

His guide services included transportation, some box lunches, entry tickets to everything we saw (except Machu Picchu…those tickets we bought ourselves). He was very good. Well studied and prepared. Good English. Highly recommend him.

We did a back to front 4D3N Lares trek with Elias, starting in the Sacred Valley, ending in the thermal springs of Lares. I could wax lyrical for pages and pages of all the things we experienced, but you'd need a couple of hours, so I'll put it in dot points ;).

1. Elias is well read, knowledgeable about flora and fauna and a passionate bird watcher. He is patient, warm, friendly, super organised, highly experienced and fun!
2. His team were fantastic. Gido the cook was jolly and kind and what he could cook up on a camp stove was exceptional.
3.The walk was challenging and we all hit hard spots, my husband really struggled with the altitude (oxygen was on hand), my daughter pulled a muscle and found uphill super painful (a mule was available just at the crucial moment), my other daughter struggled with altitude (we slowed our pace until she felt better), I twisted my kneecap (a knee brace was supplied and then a hail storm provided a nice ice bath!). We were well looked after.
4. The scenery was absolutely, breathtakingly beautiful. The sound of running water accompanied us always.
5. Every detail was well planned and executed, including the hotel in Aguas Calientes, and lunches we had there.
6. The drive from Lares to Ollantaytambo was eye mistingly spectacular and our driver had the biggest, warmest smile that felt like a hug each time he picked us up.
7. History came alive as we walked through ancient sites and peeked into life hundreds and at times, thousands of years ago.
8. We're a bilingual family (Spanish/English) and we found ourselves slipping in and out of both languages with ease with Elias - his English is great.

Big thanks to Elias and all at Peru Sensations for an unforgettable journey!

My sister and I travelled together for the first time together to celebrate my birthday by climbing Machu Picchu. We did the 2-day Inca Trail, spending a night in Aguas Calientes. Jaime Zuniga was our guiding light throughout the entire journey, starting from an orientation meet-up the night before our trip to provide an overview of what the trek would like, right to the end by escorting my sister and I back to our hotel once we returned to Cusco.
The 2-day trek was incredible and perfect for our needs and comfort levels. Jaime was always ready to answer whatever questions we posed about the history of the train and Incan civilization, sharing anecdotes about his own family allowing us to get to know him a little more. Jaime was always making sure we were traveling at a comfortable pace, checking how we were feeling and providing tips on how to breathe properly while hiking. Neither myself nor my sister are big experienced hikers, and Jaime was extremely patient with a great sense of humor and kind heart. Peru Sensations and Jaime also prepared delicious lunch boxes for us, which were a great mid-trek reward! We would highly recommend this company and especially Jaime!!!

My friend and I booked the Inca 2 day trail with Peru Sensations. She is living in Cusco and studying Spanish and recommended Jaime with the company. The trekking was absolutely fantastic. I am glad that I took the recommendation from Jamie not to come end of Feb as the end of the raining season may work against our outdoor plans.

The scenery of the trail was breathtaking, and we were very well taken care of during the whole trip. The guide was very experienced and knowledgeable about the flora and fauna, and thoughtful on the history of Peru, in particular the Inca empire and the colonial era.

By the end of the first day, we were close to Machupicchu, and we were led to pay our first visit to it by sunset and it was stunning. Since there were less visitors around by then, we could enjoy the site in quietness, and with a few lingering llamas who took no notice of us at all.

On hindsight, we could have reduced the size of our luggage as the walking time could vary, and in our case longer than expected - this leads to my recommendation to future travelers - you need a good pair of hiking shoes albeit it's only 2 days. I couldn't find what I need in Cusco the day before the trekking. It is therefore recommended to spend proper time shopping around before flying to Peru to get a good pair of trekking shoes if you plan to hike seriously.

I am very grateful to Jaime as his recommendations on Nazca Lines and the Amazon jungle in Puerto Maldonado both worked out marvelously. Despite the unpleasant incident to Asian tourists early this year, the Amazon forest in Peru remained attractive with abundant wildlife. Glad I made it.

I have no reservation to recommend Peru Sensations/Jamie for anyone who wants a great experience in Peru.
