About
This is Jose Martinez. I was born in the town of Cusco. I'm excited to walk with you through downtown Cusco, sharing stories about the history and legends of the Incas, as well as current facts about Peru. We'll visit the Sun Temple and other unique Inca remains, explore the Spanish-style neighborhood of San Blas, and enjoy the panoramic views of the city. Please don't get confused! I will be waiting for you in front of the "Inca statue" in the middle of the Main Square (Plaza de Armas), downtown Cusco, always wearing a red T-shirt that says "Cusco Guide," every day at 9:45 am, 12:30 pm, and 3:00 pm. I am also available at 8:00 am and 6:00 pm, but only with confirmed bookings. For more information, visit freewalkingtourcusco.com

We took part in the free walking tour with Jose and enjoyed it very much from the beginning on. Jose started with a great introduction, he knows a lot about the history of Peru, Cusco and the Inkas and especially about the architecture and the details within thw city. There was always time to ask any kind of question. Very good tour, worth it!

Jose was very knowledgeable and brought us all around the main center of town. Beautiful architecture and it was great to have a local guide us and explain both the history of the town. Fluently bilingual in English and Spanish, I would recommend this tour to anyone wanting to know more about the nice city of cusco. Gracias Jose!

Erick, our guide, seemed like the most popular guy in town, knowing different people around every corner. We toured through the major plazas and sites around Cusco, where he offered interesting history of both the city, the country, and how the Incan capital evolved with Spanish traditions and architecture. We toured local store fronts and artisans and ended with the traditional Pisco Sour. Fantastic tour, well worth the time and tip.

I can say that Alex Robert did knew several facts about Cusco and the Incas. The walking tour wasn't by far good. The worst part is that at the end of a "free" walking tour, our tour guy specifically told us to be benevolent with the tips. The group (we were about 10-12 people) gathered the tips and handed the tips to the guy. He came back to us saying that the tips we gave him were not enough (he expected at least $10 USD per tourist) and that in this case he may better return the tips back to us.
Besides this being a bit insulting, the company needs to really work on their wording as I would much rather know this is a paid tour than being told that I'm on a free tour and tips are voluntary.

Mr alfedopty.
Please, we never set a price of our walking tours, the other teams always do it, we are the the red T-shirt team which is explicit about "on tip-basis only".
The only tour guide but leading in English these last days was "Josè", we do not have a guide called "Alex Robert".

Jose met us at our hotel for the private tour that we booked before we left for our trip. He was very friendly and easy to understand. He took us on an extensive 3 hour tour of Cusco showing us many cultural, historical and educational highlights of this beautiful city. There was never any pressure to purchase and the pace was at our discretion. Visitng San Pedro Market was a highlight! Highly recommend.

The guide took us to all important places of Cusco and gave a lot of information. However, we did not really like this tour as the English of the guide was not really good and it was hard to understand him. He was not really involving the group and it felt like he was talking to himself. Not really enthusiastic nor motivated. Furthermore, he did a joke about someones nationality which was not professional at all. There are a lot of free walking tours in Cusco and the guide was always talking bad about other tour providers (not in a funny way).

Dear 635ramonai
This is Jose Martinez, the founder of "Free Walking Tour Cusco", you sound fake so let me point you to a few details:
-You do not give the name of the tour guide, myself: A person willing to show the best places in Cusco town.
-I already got many "living people" reviews about my level of English, stories told, etc so you are the first person to find me "unprofessional" in two years, I mean after the pandemic at all.
-We leave in a free world, you could have chosen another walking tour guys, but I have enough excellent reviews to have some "authority" to explain my birthplace, so I feel like a blessed person just to be born in the capital of one of the greatest ancient civilizations in the world!
-Two, and a half hours of walking time is not enough to tell more stories to my visitors about Cusco downtown, I think I would not have time to talk about the other walking tours guys.
By the way, I always try to say something new about Cusco city, so I invite everyone to book the "Cusco by night tour" every day at 6:00 pm to show a different topic walking in the upper part of my home town for instance.
Do not get confused. We're only waiting for you by KFC, Plaza de Arma (Main square) every day at 10:00 am, 12:30 pm, and 3:30 pm always wearing a red T-shirt of "Free Walking Tour Cusco".

We really enjoyed our tour with Felix - not only did he keep us engaged with facts and history of the historical centre of Cusco but it was so interesting to find out more about him. He used to be a porter on the Inca Trail which definitely deserves a medal! He was happy to answer all questions, was very knowledgable and was great at keeping the group together and engaged. Recommended!

The guide was more concerned about badmouthing the government than actually showing the city. Not to mention that he gave a lot of incorrect information, saying that there was a time when Cuban communism was implemented in Peru. However, Cuba (and nowhere else in the world) was never communist, but socialist.

My friend and I were on the April 7th tour with Jose. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. Although this was my third time in Cusco, I learned things that I never knew before such as sacred symbols that Jose explained in detail. I loved the part where we had to walk up over 100 steps to the top to get great views of the city. I highly recommend Jose's free walking tours, if you're in Cusco for the first time. You'll learn so much about this beautiful city.

The experience with Felix and the agency was terrible.
First of all, he was late but in a hurry and bad way.
To contextualize, from the beginning we shared with the agency our tour to Machu Pichu (including tour 1 or 2 + Inca bridge). However, once inside Machu Pichu and before starting the circuit, we told Felix that the route we were starting did not contemplate the Inca bridge his answer was clear: we had to give up that part of the route and adapt to the group (despite having paid for it and shared it with the agency quite a few days in advance).
We tried to explain that we wanted to go all the way and that for that we had paid, however, instead of looking for an alternative or returning the money, it left us lying around with no alternatives.
Added to all this is another important detail: he tried to record our conversation without consent.
