In June 2021, I joined the Killa guided Ancascocha 4 day trek in Peru with a small group starting near Mollepata and ending near Chilica. I had initially “signed” up for the traditional Machu Picchu trek in 2020. That trek was cancelled and I was offered the opportunity to join the Ancascocha trek in June 2021. Some key points. The Ancascocha or “Hidden Inca Trail” is a VERY strenuous endeavor. 56 km trek over 4 days crossing 8-9 high altitude passes (4000-5000m). To have an enjoyable trek, It’s important to take high altitude acclimation seriously. The Killa support crew (2 guides, 2 cooks, and 2 horsemen) were beyond helpful and professional. They were almost superhuman in their abilities to get ahead of the trekkers to break and set up camp, make amazingly good food and drinks in the middle of nowhere. The food prepared on the trek could rival a well-run restaurant. Delicious. In addition to the support crews technical abilities, they were fun to interact with. A mixture of Spanish, English and Quechua was spoken among the “team”, yet these language differences didn’t impact our conversation nor the ability of the group during the trek to develop friendships. Further, upon the end of the hike, the main Killa guide, Franklin, shepherded the trekkers via train to the village of Aquas Caliente to overnight at a pleasant hotel lodging and to enjoy a Killa provided dinner at a local restaurant. The Killa guide and trekkers arose early the next morning for a brief bus ride to Machu Picchu to capture a stunning sunrise upon Historic Inca site.
Bottom line. Traveling internationally is still a work in progress, but Killa Expeditions did so much beyond my expectations in providing a “bucket list” experience at an affordable price. Five stars.. Including the "Southern Cross"

Hi Gordon
Thank you so much for your lovely review! We are so pleased that we were able to provide you with an experience beyond your expectations :) We are glad that you had such a memorable time with us. As you know, the Ancascocha Trek has been named one of the World's best top 20 treks by National Geographic, so that is quite a significant bucket list achievement! Well done!
Again, thank you for taking the time to submit your review, and also for choosing us to host you during your visit to our country. We wish you all the best :)

We did the 8 day trek, Choquequirao to Machu Picchu, and it was the trek of a lifetime. Killa staff went above and beyond our expectations, everything was perfect. From the beginning, the email communication was very easy; Nicole was very responsive and gave plenty of details, thoroughly answering all our questions and dissipating our doubts. We had initially booked for April 2020 but we had to postpone it to October 2021 due to covid. When we finally made it to Cusco, we had a briefing with our guide 2 nights before the departure, and Aldo showed up perfectly on time at our hotel - we had a great first impression, and our 8 days together confirmed how great a guide he is. Very friendly, knowledgeable and interesting, and he also paced the hike and adapted to our level. It was a tough trek, getting us out of our comfort zone (some days involved 10h hiking at 3000m), but the staff were amazing and made it as smooth as possible. Besides Aldo our guide, there were 2 horsemen with their 5 mules, as well as a cook chef and his assistant. Each night when we arrived at our camping site, our tents were already set up with our bags inside, and we were literally waken up with a steaming hot cup of freshly brewed coffee (mind you, no instant coffee!) in our tent every morning. Food was DELICIOUS and plentiful; there was always a starter (often soup, every day different) and a main, and on top every evening we had happy hour with freshly popped popcorn, as well as a desert. We also rented the sleeping bags from them: they were clean, warm and comfy.
Killa is a small, locally owned agency, which provides top notch service. I can only urge you to book your trek with them, they are truly fantastic.

The team at Killa is top notch - from the communication before the trip, the guiding during our trek, and after we said our goodbyes, everyone made sure that we had the best possible time. Guido our guide took us on the Ausangate Trek, Rainbow Mountain, to a few other sites, and we ended our week at Machu Picchu. The food was amazing - three or four course meals at high altitude was a true luxury. The tents kept us warm and dry. And the porters were always helpful and smiling. I cannot wait to explore more of Peru with these guys. Do not hesitate to book with Killa; you are in good hands!

We completed the 4 day/3 night Inca Trail.
Killa Expeditions was recommended to us by a friend and boy did it not disappoint. The whole experience exceeded our expectations 10 fold. We can't express enough gratitude and appreciation for the staff that accompanied us: porters, chef, and guide! Our guide, Aldo, was phenomenal, his knowledge of the Trail, fauna and Inca history was extremely informative and he clearly has a passion for the culture. The porters ensured we had a comfortable setup at each campsite every night. And the chef prepared food that was better than some restaurants we had previously visited. On one days notice, in the middle of nowhere, the chef managed to whip up a birthday cake for my boyfriend which was mindblowing when you saw the size of the kitchen setup he was working with.
Most importantly Killa Expeditions recruit staff from local villages so the money goes locally rather than to a corporation. Its a challenging few days walk, covering the trails of their ancestors so it's what we own them at the least.
Could not recommend more!

I can not say enough for the exceptional team and services provided by Killa Expeditions for our 4 day Ausangate trek to Rainbow Mountain. Jose was incredible helping to organize our dates and other tours within the region (New Rainbow Mountain and Las Salineras de Maras) both before and after our trek. For our main expedition, we met our guide and went over the itinerary the evening before which helped us feel well prepped, organized and prepared for the journey ahead. From start to finish, we enjoyed the incredible expertise, knowledge and patience of our guide Americo. The in depth spiritual and cultural history he shared provided us with a deeper understanding and connection to the land and the people who lived there. Our expectations continued to be exceeded by the variety of captivating vistas, incredible local cuisine prepared by our amazing chef Justin and the comradeship from our two local horseman Rocky and Sebastian. I highly recommend Killa Expeditions for any tours and adventures of interest during your time spent in Peru. Their attention to detail and dedication to providing an unforgettable experience is evident - Jenna Dixon

Me and three friends did the 4 day 3 night Lares Valley trek to Machu Picchu with Henry as our guide. I couldn’t be more pleased with our experience, I’ve never been so spoiled while out on a trek! The cooks and horsemen were phenomenal, their food preparations absolutely blew me away, they even had a cake for our last day. Henry was exactly what I hoped for with a tour guide, he was very informational, helping, and all around a good human being, we shared many smiles and laughs together. I wouldn’t hesitate to do another trek with him! I heard many good things about killa before this trek and I was not let down, the professionalism was top notch, and it’s also a huge bonus knowing that you’re supporting a business that gives back to the local Andean communities. 10/10 I highly recommend this company and most importantly Henry for a trek!

I would like to strongly recommend Killa Expeditions for your treks and adventures in the Sacred Valley and the Inca Trail. The office staff at all times was courteous, prompt, and extremely helpful. Because of Covid our trip was delayed by two years so we actually had to work with the staff more than normal and at every turn, I was astounded by how thorough and accommodating theyvwere.
We were able to arrange an excellent half-day Sacred Valley tour through KE once in-country. Very convenient! But, it is the bigger trip-the Classic 4 day/3 night Inca Trail trip was exceptional. Our guides were informative and kind. The cooks worked hard to prepare lots of good food and even managed to keep all the different dietary situations in mind. (I don’t know how Miguel created a beautifully decorated, delicious cake for our last night but he did. Amazing!). The porters were hard working and encouraging. They took great care of us.
Thank you KE and Peru for a trip of a lifetime!

We did 2 two days treks with Killa, the Machu Picchu & Inca trail 2 days and the Rainbow mountain 2 days treks. Both were amazing and will stay memorable experiences. The staff was super professional, the team very responsive, the guide great, we enjoyed our time a lot, it really worth the money. They were also super helpful with extra things like organising a cab, dropping our bags, etc.
Rainbow trek 2 days: we passed amazing lands and communities already at the car drive, then we did full day hiking, saw the Ausangate mountain, learned about the highlands, had amazing food in the meantime cooked by chefs. Hygiene was top and also the tent, sleeping bag very confi with heating bag for the night. Waking up at 4700m in the morning was incredible and we were one of the first to visit the Rainbow mountains without any crowd. Only the altitude was thought.
Inka Trail & Machu Picchu 2 days
We hiked the Inca trail for one day, learned a lot how they lived and in the afternoon arriving from the sun gate and seeing Machu Picchu from there was special. The evening hotel and dinner was also super and then we explored Machu Picchu the day after, was good to have less people around in the morning.
Overall would highly recommend both treks and to do it with KILLA!

Did the 5d/4n salkantay trek with Killa and loved it! Had Guido as a guide who was a local from the area which made the experience even better. Also want to mentols the food, which was absolutely delicios! Would recommend to anyone trekking around Cusco - the slightly higher pricepoint is worth every dollar!
