Get the private tour to access the roof!
Feb 2020
I bought a semi-private tour of the cathedral. The guide was was very informative and the tour included viewing the interior of the church, their art collection on two floors, and the roof and bell towers of the cathedral. It is a beautiful church and definitely worth a visit! Also, tours are offered in English.

Located in the heart of the Old Town in Arequipa. A beautiful historical architecture in Plaza de Armas. A must see when in Arequipa.

Great photos and photo opportunities.

As I wrote about another place, here you have a church where you can have loads of information about colonial art in Arequipa, they have good and friendly guides, do not miss this place.

Nice Church and great view of the city

I definitely recommend visiting the church on your visit here. It takes a about an hour and requires a tour guide, but mine was very good. You also get to visit the bell tower which provides a nice view of the plaza.

Group tour of Peru
Oct 2019 • Friends
Had quite a long morning when we reached the cathedral. Hugely impressive from the outside in a marvellous Plaza. The inside was surprisingly plain compared to other cathedrals and churches. The part of the tour that takes you on the roof us good for views and the story of the bell tower collapsing due to an earthquake. Shame the interior is uninspiring.

Night time in Arequipa's Plaza de Armas
Sep 2019
Our favorite place for a Friday night date overlooks the Catedral. We are then at a higher elevation than this pic. We can see the lights of all of Arequipa including the Plaza and the Catedral. Another time for what the Catedral's Museo has. Ciao.

Nothing unique.
Jul 2019
I think we just tired of the all the churches and cathedrals that we had already seen. We started to struggle to tell the difference between them. Yes the stone colour is "pretty", looks good in sunshine and sunset but it is just another overly large cathedral. Built when the country was extremely poor. Nothing unique. You won't need long to visit. Closes during services.
