This cathedral is very pretty and the tour was very informative. I’m glad we decided to visit. The guide was required, but we found she did a great job. We would have missed so much interesting history and information without her.

Located in the heart of the Old Town in Arequipa. A beautiful historical architecture in Plaza de Armas. A must see when in Arequipa.

Great photos and photo opportunities.

The cathedral is stunning. It sits right in the Plaza de Armas and is massive. Its impossible to miss. Take pictures of the outside with Misti in the distance. Worth going inside to explore as well.

after a recent earthquake, this huge cathedral has been renewed and , in my opinion, has lost its old and colonial charme. a bit disappointed

You can visit at any time during the day but between 7-10am the cathedral is open to all visitors free of charge.

Any time outside of this costs 10soles, however... you cannot enter without a guide which they say costs 5soles per person even though there are no official signs stating this.

Luckily it’s very cheap but it would be nice to visit without being hauled around and paying for a service you don’t want.

This cathedral is the only (or one of the few) in South America to spam across a whole main square. The interior though mainly restored is still worth seeing, especially the organ. Additionally is holds an impressive collection of very intrinsically elaborate pieces of metal church art.
The roof top provides good views over the central square and of the volcanos surrounding arequipa.

The cathedral is not that nice inside as it is from the outside. But what is really great is to get to the roof and whatch the whole city from ther.
