Located in the Old Town of Arequipa. it's about a ten minute stroll ,roughly northwards, from the Cathedral. Another beautiful historical building with a plaza in front of the church.
Another must see for lovers of architecture and history and of course the Christian faith.
Highly Recommended!

I was happily able to visit the Plaza and Church, but the Monastery is closed on Sundays. The plaza is cute and appears to be popular either the locals vas Mass was going on, I was only able to pop into the church for a couple of minutes to take a couple photos and to glance around.

This monastery is very peaceful and rarely visited by tourists. It has excellent collection of art, esp. paintings and vestments. There is a room devoted to a Mexican pop singer, Mojica, who became a Franciscan monk later in his life. The chapter house has one truly excellent painting, covering the entire wall, one of the biggest paintings in town, representing the genealogy of the Franciscan order. The inside of the church can be seen from the choir. The cloister is very atmospheric and the guide very friendly. Some of the paintings are copies of paintings that were robbed from this monastery in 2010. 5 monks still live on the premises.
Entry fee is very low.

Very old building, full of character and shops perfect for a lazy day. This is a hugely photographic building.

It's only PS10 to visit the church museum and it's really worth it. You do need a guide to take you around the various sites inside the complex as all the areas are locked down. This is seemingly quite daft until the guide shows you the gallery where all the paintings were stolen just 8 years ago. Much of the artwork is in very bad repair, but it's still interesting. Visiting the church tower and choir is also included. Photos are only allowed outside, with the exception of the choir area.

This is a nice little plaza close to lots of great restaurants. We paid entry to see the monastery and cringed a little bit when we were approached by a guide inside the doors. We'd already done several lengthy, non-kid friendly church tours already. Our concerns weren't warranted. Out guides English wasn't perfect but she had lots of enthusiasm. It actually would have been a waste to see it without a guide. She pointed out lots of things we would have missed. Of note, the tour does not include the church. For that you have to wait for the church to open for mass and go early.

If you go to the craft market, you just about have to walk thru this plaza, I didn't enter the church, I did stop and catch my breath in the plaza. Nice shade, good people watching, and well maintained. To arrive at the Museo Historic Municipal, you walk thru this plaza. That museum isn't listed on TripAdvisor, but I enjoyed it.

i passed through here again today (3 Sept 2019) on my way home. This plaza and church is related to the Juanita (ice Maiden) story. Also the Plaza has a unique archaeological museum explaining Arequipa's ancient and 1800-1900's history.

We took a tour of the convent in Spanish. The paintings and lifestyle is very interesting. I returned at 5 pm for the. Mass and to see the beautiful altarpiece. The courtyard is beautiful. Climb the stairs to capture a great photo of 2/3 volcanoes.
