About
This museum’s main attraction is Juanita, whose ritually sacrificed and frozen body was unearthed in a volcanic explosion. This young girl’s miraculously preserved DNA has provided priceless insight into the Inca civilization.

The visit lasts between 1-1:30 hours and it’s very interesting! We bought the tickets in the entrance and the price already included the guiding tour (at the end you must leave some tips for the guide). I would recommend this even for children, at our...More

So what the place doesn’t clearly advertise is that you must take a tour. Tours run infrequently so we had to wait about 25 minutes for the next one. It was 20 soles plus a tip for the tour guide, which isn’t optional. You watch...More

I visited the museum today and took the guided tour, I ended up doubling the amount I was going to tip the guide because she was so informative about the ice maiden Juanita and the other sacrificial children. The collection is small but fascinating how...More

My partner and I visited MUSA after it was recommended by a friend. The short film at the start of the tour gave a really good introduction to the exhibits, and the museum tour that followed was excellent, and very interesting. Highly recommend for a...More

Guided tours in English or Spanish - whatever you prefer - give you an impressive look into life in this area of the country at the the time of inca culture. The mummy of the scarified girl takes of course an important role in the...More

Ok but I found this a bit creepy. The museum is well put together with interesting artefacts. It is not very big and you have an introductory film show followed by a tour so you should finish in an hour. Our guide was very good...More

The museum is not big. It takes you 30-40 minutes to see everything very carefully. You can take a guide at the museum to get the excursion.

The museum forces all customers to take a guided tour. Our guide rushed us round the exhibits, giving little information. Upon completion of the tour he demanded tips from me and my wife, as well as 2 other guests. We decided not to tip as...More

This would have been a great museum to visit had it not been for the extremely pushy, rude tour guide who practically chased us around, yelling at us to tip him after the tour. He was aggressive and made me very uncomfortable and a bit...More

Thought this may be a bit creepy, but not so. Absolutely fascinating. In the small museum you are shown an introductory video and then you can opt for a guided tour or walk through yourself. As well as this amazing mummy you see artefacts from...More

From what i can see in Google, the hours are 9am to 6pm. With Juanita, I would check first as they do remove her for a few months of the year and replace her with one of the other Ice Mummies. Hope this helps

When you are in Arequipa, stop by and confirm if Juanita is there before you buy your tickets. They might have other mummys or attractions in May. The museum is in downtown Arequipa, so do this as you are walking through... More
