We happened to be in the company of a Professor of Architecture at the local university, and was blown away by the historical significance of the stone carvings and ancient artistry. Also the week of Peruvian Independence, there were white and red rosettes everywhere and...More

Lovely place night and day entry to the cathedral is just 5 soles. There's hot cocoa for sale in the evening as well. The photo touts are a bit annoying though!

This is a gorgeous square to visit - lots of balcony restaurants to sit in whilst taking in the stunning views of El Misti behind the beautiful cathedral. It's just a shame that the city doesn't crack down on businesses hassling tourists. When I went...More

This plaza has a great vibe and has a unique backdrop with el Misti volcano towering behind the cathedral. The enormous palm trees and arched walkways provide shade from the midday sun. The square is lit up beautifully at night.

Very calm compared to the rest of the city, and beautiful. Good place to rest in the sun and read a book or relax

Very happening at all times of the day. Filled with locals and tourists alike. Always felt safe. Visit at night for a different perspective.

We walked around the plaza and it is very simple and good and safe. We saw tourist police too. The vendors selling tours is lil annoying but ok. Overall loved the concept of plazas here.

The cathedral has been recently restored. The Plaza is a large green space in the middle of the colonial section of Arequipa city, sorrounded by historic buildings.
