The Plaza de Armas in Arequipa is very nice. Traffic is forbidden so, only pedestrian can walk around. The cathedral in front is quite impressive and in the middle of the Plaza you have a small water area, with a green garden around. The houses surrounding the plaza are also very nice.
It's a touristy place, so you'll find lots of people and lots of people trying to sell you things.

We absolutely loved Arequipa and the Colca Canyon regions in Peru. Probably our favorite places in Peru. Arequipa was more relaxing, loved the backdrop of the Volcanos, the white volcanic rock used for all the buildings and it was a peaceful place with great weather. Loved the hot springs in the Colca Canyon.

We were lucky enough to have our hotel overlook the cathedral. Really lovely city with little street off the main square. Some parades and dancing troupes performing in the square. Great restaurants and found little bar/pub down from St Francis Church. Great wee place and sat by the open grilled window downing Pisco Sours at the Happy Hour! Loved Arequipa.

Plaza de Armas is a very cool place to visit. It’s the heart of the shopping district, a place for people to congregate, eat, talk, and just people watch. The beautiful and historic Catedral de Arequipa is also located here which is definitely well worth the guided tour. This plaza is full of happy energy. Lots of restaurants and shops shoot off it.

The tour let me see so much of this spectacular place, and it really is not even $3 US. I was overcome by the beauty and spiritual feelings while there. Even though raised Christian, I study Buddhism, Yoga, Druidry, and more, and I don’t care what your faith is, you will feel the presence of what I call The Force and most call God while in this place if you let yourself.

I found the Plaza de Armas here to be perfectly quaint and like most of the Peruvian cities I visited a good place to start exploring. There is a pretty decent grocery store on the side opposite of the church, which made getting supplies easy. There are far fewer barkers and pan handlers in this plaza than others I experienced on my visit. It had an almost family like feel. Definitely, spend a few sols and visit the church, that’s worth it too.

I am so glad that we stayed in a hotel on the Plaza de Armas. It is beautiful, lively and safe. Compared to the rest of Arequipa, it is the jewel in the crown. The only downside are all the tours trying to get you to eat in their tourist restaurants.

we had planned to visit the city center of Arequipa only for 2 days with our little girl of 16 months of life. We saw that the park was less clean than we had thought to see because of the many doves

We don't know why people are rating this place and love it so must, that it has to be a 'must see'. It's beautiful, but it's nothing special, just trees, benches and birds, takes 5 minuts to walk around. Yeah, it's a nice little hole in centrum, but seriously, it's just a little plaza

The town is in comparison with forexample Lima or Ica more calm and cleaner, but the smell of cars in this town is terrible. We did not get in any castle, all were closed. But there is nice view to the volcano and mountains.
